Republican Indiana governor Mike Pence launches investigation into state's Planned Parenthood clinics, comes up with nothing.

Courtesy of the Journal Gazette:

The Indiana State Department of Health has cleared Indiana's three Planned Parenthood abortion clinics of any wrongdoing related to a national controversy.

GOP Gov. Mike Pence called for an investigation earlier this month after an undercover video raised concern over harvesting organs for donation from aborted fetuses.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky said from the beginning that it didn't participate in a tissue donation program. But Pence went ahead with an investigation and has talked extensively about it in various interviews.

Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky said this morning it received official notice from the Indiana State Department of Health that its health centers in Merrillville, Bloomington and Indianapolis were found compliant with state abortion clinic licensure regulations.

Gee don't you hate it when you launch a witch hunt and it turns out there are no damn witches?

Oh. THIS can't right. Every other repub gov will have to launch their own investigation, at taxpayer expense. THIS is their new Benghazi, isn;t it?

Of course it is. Don't you find the timing suspicious? They're heading into another election cycle....they gotta have SOME kind of red meat to toss.

It's shocking that Jindal, Brownback, Abbott, Walker, Scott, etc., all, haven't followed suit yet.

Astute observation, this is the new Benghazi, at which they'll be hyping this ad nauseum til something new comes along.

Considering it was backed by big name GOP operatives (Ginni Thomas anyone?) no wonder they are flogging this dead horse.

The Daily Beast has an article titled, "How Fox News Made My Dad Crazy" by Jen Yamato. Worth a read.

A good friend and his mother getting Fauxed here in Toronto. He seems worse when he's not doing as well in the stock market and I think that's part of it as well. A certain amount of self loathing and fear must be present before getting FAUXED.

I'm lucky that my parents, who are both nearing 80 years old, are getting more and more politically progressive the older they get. They've surpassed me, and I'm pretty damned progressive. They're disappointment with the POTUS is that he's way too moderate, not that he's going to take away guns or that he's a socialist or that he's a blah person.

    3. I read that article. It fits my 45-year-old son perfectly. He has been watching Fox since its inception and has been spiraling down into rightwing craziness -- which has now landed him in jail for 3 years.

There is a documentary showing at this year's Traverse City Film Festival called "The Brainwashing of My Father" about losing a parent to Fox News' insanity. We didn't see it preferring not to be depressed at the FF but I'm sure it's interesting.

My two remaining grandparents are 90 and 92. They have become fairly moderate now. My (WWII veteran) grandfather had read both of Obama's books before 08, so he was a fan of his in general- he voted for him over McCain, which was a pretty big deal, as the only other Dem he had voted for that I know of until that point was my aunt's ex for city council. In 12, he was more apathetic, but I'm pretty sure he still voted for him. My grandmother, though she also tended to vote Rep prior to 08, is a little more liberal. She also supported Obama in 08 and couldn't stand Romney in 12, so I know she voted Obama again. She also makes comments about how great it is that women have more options now (she once commented on how her own grandmother was 'women's lib'- her grandfather didn't drive, but her grandmother did! She had a Model A, and the two used to go for rides (this is back in about 1930, so I have to give my great-grandfather credit- couldn't have been easily accepted by society in those days!). If it weren't for her, my grandfather might be susceptible to being sucked into the world of Fox, but with her leading the way, it won't happen any time soon!

My aunt and uncle, on the other hand (their son/daughter, my father's brother/sister) are both super conservative, and my uncle quotes Fox talking points like they're gospel. He's on disability, and his daughter has 4 kids by 3 different guys (including twins) and has never held a job, but it's everybody else who is the problem.

I read that article. It made me realize the same thing had happened to my mother over the past 25 years, though I never recognized it for what it was. I should have realized what Fox, and especially Rush Limbaugh, were doing to her thought processes when she joined the NRA and proudly stuck their logo on her front door. This from a woman who never shot or owned a gun. I now understand where her militant rages against all things liberal came from. She died hating President Obama. Sad.

When Obama launched his initial run for office I became aware numerous relatives were Beck and FOX fans. Prior to that I don't recall politics even coming up in conversations. When they started urging me read anti Obama articles and watch Beck and FOX I had to step back. Unfortunately, we don't see each other any more.

If your mother joined the NRA despite having no guns and no experience with or interest in guns, it may have been senile dementia. The NRA would be happy to have taken your mother's entire estate.

So they did an unnecessary investigation, found nothing illegal, and wasted taxpayer money. Thanks, Obama.

Yes, everything that costs money MUST be attributed to President Obama. BUT President Obama isn't one of the "They" in "They did an unnecessary investigation...."

Launching investigations is all the Republicans do these days. If they get such thrills out of the hunt, maybe they could look into a few of their fellow R's shenanigans. Family size can 'o worms there for sure.

I was born and bred an Indiana Republican and almost always ended up voting that party. But, when they went after Clinton for years, with that special prosecutor Ken Starr and all they could finally hang on him was Monica and how he lied about that --- well, That did it for me. Never again did I, or will I, vote for one of them. Ever!

All they seem to care about is putting more money in the pockets of the super rich, using tax cuts, while cutting any and all services to anyone who is not rich -- most of us. They are horrid horrid politicians, and those who vote for them still, are stupid stupid voters. I worry of our country constantly.

The $ wasted on this BS is staggering, the fact this was predicated on a video a 5th grader could see was heavily edited and doctored. This is not about protecting anybody, but about Pence's pathetic attempt to get back into the good graces of the fundamentalists after the so-called religious freedom act bills he was blamed for botching. Good Riddance, two massive failures all in less than 6 months.

In the local newspaper it was stated, "Probe was meant to 'reassure'."
In related news, last spring there was a spike in HIV cases in southern Indiana. It was determined that the reason for the increase was due to the Planned Parenthood clinics being closed. Evidently PP was the only place that screened for HIV for the drug users in the area. The governor was forced to allow the distribution of free, clean needles to stem the outbreak. The governor did that begrudgingly, however. One of the ugly consequences when Planned Parenthood clinics are forced to close.

    1. You're right, Pence's grandstanding caused a lot of Indiana residents to contract HIV.

This is all republicans can do, they're incapable of governing. They need to be voted out before they destroy more.

I can't recall a democratic equivalent to all these investigations the GOP has done just to keep beating a dead horse or make political points for the evangelical votes.
I suppose Mr. Pence will do the next logical thing..... waste more taxpayer's money and launch another investigation.

The Republican party is being to sound like the little boy who cried wolf one too many times.

Interesting how there isn't any money in the budget to fix roads or education, but they manage to find it to investigate bogus videos.

  12. Obviously Pence didn't learn anything from his last bout with the stupid.
