Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee indicated Thursday that if elected, he wouldn’t rule out employing federal troops or the Federal Bureau of Investigation to stop abortion from taking place in the United States.
Though the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against bans on abortion, Huckabee said past presidents have defied Supreme Court rulings.
Yes by all means let's elect a man willing to call in an airstrike to stop a woman from exercising control over her own reproductive organs.

I see a 13-year-old girl, raped by her uncle, with no family to support her -- no one believes that he did it, and no one will take care of her now that she's pregnant.

When the FBI drops by, the advisor tells them the name of the uncle and what he's done to an underage girl.
In the meantime, she prescribes birth control pills for the girl, so that, if a relative, or a boyfriend someday, wants to have sex with her, a baby isn't the inevitable result. The girl has a voice, and she has power over her body.
She also gives her a "morning after pill," in case cousin Cletus
takes after his father.
Did Huckabee just officially declare a war on women? If so, this scenario would perhaps play out much worse for the 13-year old. After all, it would be her fault that she ended up pregnant.

I'm very old, so old, in fact, that I found myself pregnant in the '60s. New York State allowed abortions. I went to a doctor recommended to me: an old woman who had survived Auschwitz because, as a doctor, she performed abortions on the prisoners who'd become pregnant after being raped by the SS.
ReplyDeleteAny Huckabee reference to armed men enforcing the birth of babies takes me back to that time, and back to that doctor's time, and I am always grateful that our Supreme Court made abortion legal, 42 years ago. It's a necessary function of a healthy life for a woman, and is her decision alone.

Eisenhauer also federalized the Arkansas national guard because the then governor had used them to stop those students from entering the high school
