Such a good point.

And before all you Christians start getting all riled up, keep this in mind:

Paul, the earliest New Testament author, never mentions the virgin birth. For someone who we rely upon for much of Christian theology, it is an odd omission. Paul refers to Jesus’ birth twice (Rom 1:3; Gal 4:4) and never says he was born of a virgin or of different means than anyone else. You’d think that would be important.

The virgin birth is also not in Mark, the earliest gospel, or in John, the only other gospel not based on Mark. Why is such an important story left out of all the early sources? Probably because it hadn’t been made up yet.

Why would the story be made up? Perhaps to fulfill an old prophecy of a virgin birth, which the Gospel of Matthew cites:

Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)

Some scholars say “virgin” was a mistranslation in the Septuagint (the Greek translation the gospel writers used), and should have been translated “young woman.” That means the story might have been based on a mistranslation!

It seems likely the virgin birth was created to boost the authority of Christianity through prophecy and compete with rival gods who were born of virgins.

When I was younger I used to love to trot this out to my Christian pals just to see how red they got in the face.

I am a little less combative these days, but it is still something that I like to introduce into the conversation once in awhile.

You know just to keep everybody on their toes.

According to the History Channel. We are the products of Aliens. Our DNA is of aliens. We are a experiment of alien beings. Its freaky. And makes the case with a long series of explanations to current affairs. Check it out. it will blow your mind.

A little deeper and we "learn" the small greys are asexual clone/slaves. It's the tall nordic looking aliens who will help us speed up our frequency as to enter 5th and beyond dimensions.

I was watching and reading some of this new age stuff for entertainment and guess what? About half way through the "one source" comes up. They just don't call her god. So in closing, multidimensional, time traveling, spirit channeling, immortal aliens are full of shit too.

Zechariah Sitchen wrote sever books about this. He used actual quotes out of the bible. Like"the daughters of Man lay with the sons of god" Mentions the "Chariots of fire" and talks about how Noah's ark was really a big laboratory of DNA of all the animals. Really interesting stuff and taken from the bible. Anninuki & Enil one god was vengeful and one was compassionate. That is why in the bible is so full of light and dark.
The DNA mistakes that were giants that roamed the earth.
Noah who father a child at 900 yrs when the starseed was still fresh.
Pretty wild. You can call it bullshit but some things in the bible if you ask, they just can't be explained, like how Mary conceived.
I think she was seeded by a alien. Its also not widely known that the "blue blood" was from Jesus himself and he was married to Mary Magdalene and they had a child, the holy grail.I also Krishna was blue there was a race of blue men. Its just wild. LOL!
One of the authors of several of the grail books Laurence Gardner who mysteriously died after writing 5 Grail books? Reading these makes alot of sense and I'm not talking about the retards that spew bible shit. That is beyond stupid. There were encoded meanings, numbers symbols.
These posers of today have no fucking clue. Thank goddess.
Very interesting books to read. Makes you wonder about that movie... DaVinci Code.
Native American have their stories about the 7 sisters the Pleiades All cultures have these stories. But the church doesn't want the truth to be known. That everyone is a god in themselves if they so choose to be. Some times I hate what is going on but our "new" science is able to now prove some of these ancient mysteries which is pretty exciting whether you believe in the watered down bible or not. Some things just can't be explained.

Do that now, and you may just get shot (red) in the face.

Were guns always ubiquitous in America, or being in the internet age we hear about them being left in church bathrooms, on bedside tables, etc., etc.?

Great post. Just wish there was an "on-ramp" for facts in these brainwashed minds...

None of this means anything, just a means for power, money and influence for the likes of Franklin Graham, the Palins, Huckabee, and whatnot.

Many virgins conceive. But after the act of conception, they are not longer virgins. This is kind of a no-brainer. Well. So to speak...

I always wondered if it was more of a "parable" type story where Mary got herself in a situation (whether voluntarily or maybe not) and Joseph was a good guy and made an "honest" woman out of her. GG Joe, kinda like Todd Palin helping out a certain girl who found herself the same situation.

Speaking of abstinence, has anyone seen Bristol lately? After all, she does claim to have a job in Anchorage, so she should be visible, coming and going to work. Doesn't she ever visit the supermarket or take out food places?

The early Xtians wanted converts, so they stole the mythology of the pagan religions and made it their own. "See, our story is very like your own, but OUR god is stronger than your god..."

It was the Catholic Church that promoted the virginity of Mary toward it's own agenda. You are right the original text and word simply describes a young unmarried woman. Has no bearing whatsoever on sexual experience. Our pastor preached this on a Christmas Eve sermon in a Presbyterian Church in the 1970s and a third of the older members of the Congregation walked out. Just sayin Mic Mac

The people from any religion who claim to believe that God allowed/produced a virgin birth were saying that God superseded the laws of biology to do so. This is why the saying in the above picture makes no sense. Those of us who advocate abstinence as a way of preventing unwanted pregnancy are talking about the human realm where divine intervention is not expected to occur and won't be assumed to have occurred if an unwanted pregnancy happens. Even Bristol doesn't claim that she abstained from sex and ended up pregnant from an immaculate conception.

This is like people who think there was a contradiction in Christianity because Jesus was a single, childless man and the Old Testament says to "be fruitful and multiply." Jesus was, according to the faith, both man AND God, and therefore would be an exception to any rule. His ministry ran 3 years and he died at age 33. A wife and children would have just been a drain on his time and taken away from the important work of spreading the gospel.

Maybe we should ask why so many people feel the need to belittle abstinence. Are they afraid the central tenet of the sexual revolution might be threatened (that is, "Eros first, humanity second?")

I wish the pedophiles the Catholic Church nutured were a little more abstinent.

Maybe we should ask why so many people feel the need to belittle a healthy sex life with intelligent use of birth control. The alternate of "abstinence only" sure does end up creating a lot of abortions.

Because abstinance is a fable. Ask Bristol.
Jesus was not childless. He was married to mary Magdalena and they had a child. Mary went to France with the "Grail" note that the Grail looks like a "womb" Jesus is supposed to have roamed and studied with many different religions. There are Buddhists/Tibetans that guard a cave where he stayed. You can say its bullshit but its more real than you abstinance...that's for sure.

      ****
"But, says Paul, a special dispensation was granted, and he tells that "for the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law". As a result of this express "change of the law", it is explained that Jesus was enabled to enter the Kingdom of Heaven in the priestly Order of Melchizedek.

So, in September AD 33, the first child of Jesus and Mary Magdalene was born, and Jesus duly entered the Kingdom of Heaven. There is no reference to this child being a son (as there is for the two subsequent births), and given that Jesus returned three years later, in AD 36, we know that Mary must have had a daughter.

By following the chronology of the Acts, we see that in September AD 37 a second child was born; and then another in AD 44. The period between these two births to the second restitution in AD 43 was "six years", which denotes that the AD 37 child was a son. This fact is also conveyed by the use of cryptic wording, the same cryptic wording afforded to the AD 44 child, so we know that this third child was also a son.

In accordance with the scribal codes detailed in the Dead Sea Scrolls, everything cryptic within the New Testament is set up beforehand by some other entry which explains that the inherent message is "for those with ears to hear". Once these codes and allegories are understood, they never ever vary. They mean the same thing every time they are used, and they are used every time that same meaning is required."

    From 3:52pm:

"Even Bristol doesn't claim that she abstained from sex and ended up pregnant from an immaculate conception."

Hardly anyone understands the concept of immaculate conception. It doesn't refer to the conception of Jesus, but Mary. The RC church believes that Mary was born without the stain of original sin, making her own conception immaculate.
    Just in case anyone cares.

As for the history channel, most of it these days is a heaping helping of BS liberally seasoned with way too much BS. Entertaining, slightly, but still total BS, much like the old and new testaments and every other religion around.

Yes 1:39 a.m., you are right. I WAS referring to the virgin birth and not the immaculate conception. Thank you for the correction. See? "Wingnuts" can accept correction when they are wrong.

Thanks 9:10am. I wasn't really correcting you as much as using that quote of yours as a launch pad for one of my favorite rants about religion and especially the "history" channel. By the way I didn't automatically assume you were a "wingnut" as you say.

  15. The Virgin Birth is also mentoned in "The Gospel of Mary" which, though influential, didn't make the cut for the New Testament. It is also referenced in the Quran.
