You know I really need to start reading Doonesbury more often.

Garry Trudeau is the master of combining humor with cutting political commentary.

Unfortunately, this seems only to happen when a person is intelligent enough to want to learn reality - and I DON'T mean the same kind of reality crap they plush on TV!

    Thank You, for reminding me!

I've been remiss in my reading this treasure since I've stopped wasting paper with the daily fishwrapper here, which is the oldest continuously published newspaper in the US, but spiraled into decline when it was sold to Tribune.

I've bookmarked http://doonesbury.washingtonpost.com/ and will hit it regularly.

Thanks for the wake up call Gryphen, I really appreciate it.

Doonesbury is current only on Sunday now. The rest of the time our paper has reruns from decades ago. I can remember the events shown during the week, but the strips must be hard to understand for younger people.

if you ever run across a Doonesbury compilation book entitled:

"Action Figure!: The Life and Times of Doonesbury's Uncle Duke"

Buy it. Uncle Duke modeled after HST was always the funniest character. This is a compilation of Uncle Dukes greatest hits so to speak, going way back... you probably won't be able to stop reading it until you finish it.

Me too. My husband has a lot of collections and compilations from several cartoonists. My FIL's most cherished memory was meeting Charles Shultz at a wedding. He gave him a signed drawing of Charlie Brown and snoopy on a napkin. All that's left is dust, he framed it himself and didn't use acid free matting, but we still have a photo of them at the same table, my MIL "dutifully" lighting his cigarette with her trusty zippo lighter and white gloves.
