Kim Davis released! And this happens just as Presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz were scheduled to showup in Kentucky to show support and raise those poll numbers.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

U.S. District Judge David Bunning ordered Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis freed on Tuesday, five days after he held Davis in contempt and sent her to a Kentucky jail amid an escalating standoff over marriage licenses.

In Tuesday’s order, Bunning said he is satisfied that the county clerk’s office is now complying with the court’s ruling. He also ordered that Davis “shall not interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples” in Rowan County. If she does interfere, Bunning wrote, the court will consider “appropriate sanctions.”

Of course this could not happen at a more inconvenient time for two GOP presidential hopefuls.
Courtesy of the New York Times:

As most members of Congress return to Washington today for what is expected to be a very busy session, Senator Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican, will be flying down to Kentucky to visit with Kim Davis, the jailed Kentucky county clerk who refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses.

Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas, is also holding an event outside the Carter County Detention Center in where Ms. Davis is currently being held. Mr. Huckabee announced his visit last week, but the two Republican candidates will not be holding a joint rally, according to the Cruz campaign.

Mr. Cruz, instead, will fly down early and then take questions from the press around 1 p.m. Mr. Huckabee’s event will start around 2:30, and feature Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Mathew D. Staver of Liberty Counsel.

I can only imagine now pissed off Cruz and Huckabee are that this happened before they could use this pathetic woman's situation to reinforce their fundamentalists bonafides.

And the sad fact is that nobody is really going to care if they show up or not since currently Cruz is polling at 4% and Huckabee at 3%, and it is unlikely that this is going to move those numbers one iota.

Which I think tells you pretty much all you need to know about how desperate these two have become.

Update: Speaking of desperate, take a look at Huckabee trying to steal a little of the Kim Davis limelight.

Oh yeah, like I'm sure a judge is going to let Huckabee go to jail on behalf of Kim Davis.

What a buffoon!

Yes, "for me AS A CHRISTIAN". Not "for me as a government employee who feels free for personal reasons to not comply with the law of the land, as it was decided by the Supreme Court."

Get the difference there? No one is denying Ms. Davis the right to hold her personal Christian beliefs. And when those conflict with the requirements of the job she is paid to do and took an oath to perform, she is perfectly free to quit that office.

Her stupid attorney actually said the supreme court doesn't have the authority to pass the same sex marriage law.Even Fox (believe it on not) said her attorney is incredibly stupid). This attorney for the Liberty counsel is extremely ignorant of the Law.They are from out of State and are being financed from RWNJ orgs but Not Kim DAVIS.

OP here. Frankly, my thoughts are why does the government involve itself in marriage laws and the definition of marriage at all? Gay, straight, or other? It is an unnecessary involvement on a societal tradition. (not looking for answers that have to do with inheritances, hospital visitation, etc... legal reason- these elements can all be handled legally and justly without the government defining 'marriage').

Do marriages cease to exist when governments fail or topple? Does a marriage cease to exist if a couple moves to another country under different government?

11:31 AM For Kim Davis, marriage is between 3 men and a woman. Divorce is her remedy when she tires on each man. Didn't she find out that she was pregnant by a previous husband while married to another husband, so she divorced him and remarried the previous one? You don't find this stuff on Days Of Our Lives, what a joke.

In this country and in many others, "marriage" is a legal status. That is what it's called and the government defines it. If people want it to be called a "civil union" for everyone (same sex and opposite sex), they should start a petition. Until the legal name changes, every consenting adult has the right to enter in to this particular legal union and to label it "marriage" because that is what it is called under the law.

I believe her office has a stamp for any documents created and approved. Said stamp probably has her name on it as the current County Clerk.

I would bet that will be her next step in her claiming the right to refuse to issue marriage licenses.

"It's MY name on that stamp! Since I do not condone SSM, I won't let that stamp be used."

      Any bets?

I think Davis is happy to be home fornicating with her 2nd/4th husband than sitting in a jail cell. I'm sure she is getting pressure from her shitheel lawyers to commit another act of so-called "civil disobedience," but I doubt she will. She may have already been told in private by some of the legislators in her county that she needs to cut it out or she's going to find herself impeached. Not because they are in favor of gay marriage, but because they don't like the negative attention or the risk of law suits or fines.

      Delete
    6. She'll order the clerks to cease issuing licenses and claim all issued so far are invalid.

She'll confiscate the stamp and destroy any stamped licenses so her name cannot be used.

So the deputy clerks can comply with the judge and sign them themselves or they can shrug and whine they can't do their jobs and it's all her fault.

She'll go back to jail until she resigns or is replaced one way or another.

She will be incapacitated by incarceration or religious rabies. One way or another she'll be out.

I only hope they dock her pay for every day she doesn't do her job. She doesn't deserve $80,000 a year.

All of us can come up with endless analogies to Kim Davis's predicament. None of us would consider ourselves as being persecuted if our religious beliefs were in conflict with our job requirements. The flight attendant had arranged for someone to serve alcoholic beverages for her. There are people willing to compromise and trade fairly in respect of coworkers. Kim Davis refused to let anyone else in her office follow the law. No one can get through to her or the likes of Huckabee.

I would imagine that her fellow flight attendants got more than just a bit annoyed at having all that extra work foisted on them. And, what happens when all the other flight attendants on the flight are also Muslim? There's 'reasonable accommodation' and then there's 'crazy'.

WATCH: Kim Davis Emerges, Huckabee Says ‘I’m Willing to Go to Jail in Her Place’

Shortly before 2 p.m. local time, Kentucky clerk Kim Davis exited jail after being held in contempt of court for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses in her jurisdiction.

Accompanied by her lawyer Mat Staver, her husband Joe Davis (donning a fancy straw hat), and Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee, Davis was silent before the bevy of television cameras. Huckabee and Staver did most of the talking, with the former declaring that he is “willing to go to jail” in Davis’ place.

I imagine there are only four gay couples in Rowan county. I can't imagine what their life must be living in that homophobic place.

There are more than that. I checked the M4M Casual Encounters section of Craigslist for Rowan County a day or so ago. There were 877 listings since August 23. Of those, 117 were from the town of Morehead, the county seat. Appropriate name, by the way.

Since 100% of the posters looking for M4M sex didn't give their names, I have no way of knowing how many of them are relatives of Ms. Davis -- or some of her many husbands.

Now she's guilty of copyright infringement; used the song Eye of the Tiger as an entrance theme without permission of the band Survivor.

The Kim Davis Show more like a tent revival held by bigoted shucksters Huckabee and Cruz whose only purpose in using this ignorant woman is to raise votes and line their pockets of the name of their almighty god - $$$. These people are thoroughly disgusting.

Republicans should start their 'other side-show circus.' On tour now, Christ Is Kingapalooza... Come out and listen to (for a fee) Kim Davis, Josh Duggar (just make sure to take away his laptop-don't want him ordering up a lap dance), Ted Nugent and new band, 'Clean Drawers,' Sarah Palin and abstinence preaching daughter Bristol ( if she's over morning sickness) If not, Sarah will bring along her always hard working husband, 'purse-carrier' come out folks and listen to all the heartwarming Jeebus praising. You'll be inspired! To send your hard earned cash to the GOP!

Nothing attracts parasites like a cause to rally behind. Kim Davis is today's Terri Schiavo, And poor Cruz got bullied from addressing the media by Huckabee's henchmen.
She wants "accommodations" for practicing her faith of hatred and bigotry. I wonder if she'd defend a Muslim in similar circumstances? My guess is "hell no".

Rock group Survivor blasts Kim Davis after ‘Eye Of The Tiger’ plays at rally: We wouldn’t grant her ‘rights to use Charmin’

Rowan County, Kentucky clerk Kim Davis could face another court battle, this time over the use of the song “Eye of the Tiger” during the rally celebrating her release from jail, Variety reported.

“We did not grant Kim Davis any rights to use ‘My Tune -The Eye Of The Tiger,'” Survivor lead singer Frankie Sullivan posted on Facebook. “I would not grant her the rights to use Charmin!”

The song could be heard playing as Davis was walked to the stage by her attorney, Mat Staver, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R), who has advocated for her since news surfaced of her refusal to grant marriage licenses to same-sex couples, stating that it would break “God’s law.”

“C’mom [sic] Mike, you are not The Donald but you can do better than that,” Sullivan wrote, a reference to the GOP front-runner thus far, Donald Trump.

TMZ reported that a spokesperson for the band said it is “determined to protect the integrity of their music.”

She isn't finished wasting taxpayer money yet:

Kim Davis says she has answer to Marriage Dilemma and Seeks Emergency Injunction AGAIN

.............Now, in the latest news Kim Davis Counsel, Mat Staver from Liberty Counsel is asking for an Emergency injunction from the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The lawyers sought emergency relief from the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, asking it to grant Davis an exemption from the "governor's mandate that all county clerks issue marriage licenses," the non-profit legal advocacy group Liberty Counsel, which represents Davis, said in a news release.

Isn’t this the same 6th circuit court of Appeals that denied their last request to extend a stay on the District Court order to issue the Marriage licenses? And the same emergency request to the Supreme Court which was also denied?

What makes them think this time will be any different?

"The governor’s refusal to take elementary steps to protect religious liberties has now landed Kim Davis in jail," Liberty Counsel founder and chairman Mat Staver said.

Why should the Governor spend hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars to convene a Special session just to allow one County Clerk to violate her Oath of Office?

After all the Governor certainly cannot implement a change like this on his own authority or doesn’t Mat Staver realize this?

Kim Davis should simply perform her Constitutional duties as required by law and which she swore an Oath to do.
