Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey
I'm a commie, atheist hooligan and I ADORE him. When I read his bio I knew he was going to be great. An ex-bouncer with a chemistry degree who decided to be a priest??? I'm in love!
It's relatively easy for him to make progressive pronouncements on things like social justice, evolution, the Big Bang, and climate change, because these are areas where the church either has said the same thing for centuries (social justice), or areas that are so relatively new that the church as a whole has not had a chance to set out any fixed position on them yet.
In areas like women's issues, the priesthood, things like that, he is dealing with hundreds if not thousands of years of tradition within a huge, geographically vast institution. One single man cannot possibly change these things by himself, virtually overnight.
He did say that for himself personally "who am I to judge", regarding gays; that non-Catholics, non-Christians, and even atheists can go to heaven; and that in his opinion women "should not have to bear children like rabbits".
So in fairness, please give the guy a (small) break.
Best pope yet... however the catholic church does not walk the talk. Their uncounted billions, more probably trillions still sit in the vault. As John Lennon said, "Imagine"...
How many refugees has Vatican City contracted to take in from Syria? When will they realize that women are more than breeding stock?
I'm a Jew and I love this Pope! He is amazing and I hope uniting.

He speaks up for everyone but women
ReplyDeleteSo true, 5:50. Pope Rockstar is strangely silent on women's rights, just like a good Catholic misogynistic boy should be.
