Bernie Sanders' fundraising comes within two million dollars of matching Hillary Clinton's. Perhaps now is the right time for Hillary to start worrying.

 Courtesy of MSNBC:

Hillary Clinton raised $28 million in the campaign finance period ending Wednesday night – but Democratic challenger Bernie Sanders came within striking distance of the front-runner with his haul of $26 million, according to their campaigns.

But that is only part of the story according to the Washington Post:

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton technically beat Bernie Sanders by $2 million in the chase for campaign cash over the past three months. But that isn't the story — not even close.

Clinton held 58 fundraising events to raise her total; Sanders held seven. As of the end of September, Sanders had brought in 1.3 million total donations from 650,000 individuals since he began running. Clinton's campaign did not release how many total donors she has. And Sanders ended September with $25 million in the bank; Clinton did not release how much money her campaign had on hand.

Read between the lines, and you get this: Sanders is drawing huge amounts of small-dollar donations via the Web. That means two important things: (1) Sanders has been able to concentrate on meeting and greeting potential voters rather than spending his time courting donors, and (2) He has been able to conserve money because he isn't spending cash on lavish events for donors.

Some are beginning to suggest that ultimate Sanders might have more cash on hand than Hillary, and therefore more to use for his campaign. (This seems to be backed up by another Washington Post article which claims that Clinton has blown through 90% of the money she raised over the summer.)

And since Bernie does not believe in negative campaign ads, and is a man whose reputation appears to be above reproach, that also means less money spent on opposition research and less money spent on damage control and spin.

Ultimately this might prove to be one of the more important facts about this nomination progress.

It is no longer reasonable to discount Bernie Sanders' chances of emerging victorious.

Told ya so months ago... Bernie connects with a wide cross-section of Americans &... conservatives and gives them hope somebody has plans to deal in concrete ways with the issues
His campaign has changed the way Democratic campaigns are being waged.

I feel he is running not for personal power but to help the country, unlike the feeling I get from any other candidates running so far. (He is on the cover to Time Magazine this
    week.

This is the same feeling I got from Obama.

Without a single TV ad–or a single congressional endorsement–Sanders has exposed the weakness of the party’s Clintonian establishment while at the same time spotlighting its hunger for an ideological savior.

Polls now indicate that if the nominating contests were held tomorrow, Sanders would edge out Clinton in Iowa and beat her in New Hampshire by 10 points. Nationally, he has cut Clinton’s lead from an impregnable 46 points to a crumbling 21 points in just two months.

But even those metrics don’t convey the extent of the Sanders phenomenon. At Clinton events, campaign staffers section off floor space before her speeches to make her crowds look densely packed.

Sanders needs no barriers. His audiences are authentically huge–28,000 in Oregon, 11,000 in Arizona, 7,500 in Maine.

His volunteer army, meanwhile, though mostly self-organized online, numbers more than 182,000 people spread out from rural Alaska to the Florida Keys, people who have asked the campaign how to improvise events, knock on doors and spread the gospel from campus quad to living room to farmer’s market.

Kessler's book revealing Clinton's behavior as shared by the Secret Service agents is on the internet today. Can't be good for Hillary but interested in how it might make Bernie Sanders' numbers zoom upward. Hopeful!

Yet she continues to thump him in polls, except for NH and Vermont. After the debates, the money will flow openly to the most experienced candidate. Hillary Clinton.

Unless America really does need a revolution after 8 years of a democrat in the WH. By a socialist no less.

    Yeah, it'll happen. SMH

...Sadly, this isn’t the first time that Clinton has tried to buy the appearance of likeability. In 2013, the Clinton State Department spent $630,000 to boost their Facebook page to more than 400,000 followers — the vast majority of which were located in a “click farm” in Cairo.

More recently, an audit done by Status People showed that only 44 percent of her Twitter followers are real people who actively use Twitter, and more than a half-million of her followers are completely fake. Additionally, her Facebook page has been padded with more than 46,000 followers located in Baghdad — more than in any U.S. city.

By comparison, Bernie Sanders’ Facebook and Twitter accounts tally more than 1 million followers each. More importantly, Sanders’s followers are 600% more active in sharing his message. This level of supporter engagement keeps Sanders trending in a continuous loop across social media platforms while Clinton only appears in bursts.

So how does this translate into actual support from people who will come out to vote?

Honestly, her likability to me is zip. Like Romney and McCain thought the WH was "owed" to them, I feel the same about her.

9:32, I can't stand her either. She's so damn glib and lies so easily and cries at will. She said that she was not subpoena'd, then it turns out she was. If she were only lying about herself, like saying she was named for Sir Edmond Hillary when she had been born years before he scaled Mt. Everest, that would be one thing. Now, as the front runner of the primary, she's tarnishing the entire party. I just really can't stand her and her sense of entitlement.

Great, but how are the small donors going to counter the inevitable hate and lies that will be the basis of the GOP campaign,? We still have CU, and the GOP has plenty of billionaires well versed in dark funding.

The source of the fund-raising is really telling. I wouldn't pull the lever for Hillary even if she were to win the nomination. I hope the party doesn't pull a thug move and disable Bernie Sanders.

Agree with 12:41pm, Hillary is an "ends justifies the means" type person and I can't stand her and don't think that my brain would actually let me push the button for her. She is very driven, so driven that she doesn't care who she tramples on her way to the top, and on top of that she is so lacking in self esteem that she allowed her husband to use her as a doormat for their entire marriage (because he could help her politically) instead of kicking him to the curb and standing up for herself. I will never forget how she and Bill treated then opponent Barack Obama during the run up to the 2008 primary; the whisper campaigns the disparagement of character and outright character assassination. Those two are nasty pieces of shit who do not deserve adoration and respect, much less to hold elected office.
