Former investigator for the Benghazi House Select Committee admitted today that the aim all along was to discredit Hillary Clinton .

Courtesy of CNN:

A former investigator with the House Select Committee on Benghazi is accusing the Republican-led panel of carrying out a politically motivated investigation targeting former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton instead of the thorough and objective fact-finding mission it was set up to pursue.

Major Bradley Podliska, an intelligence officer in the Air Force Reserve who describes himself as a conservative Republican, told CNN that the committee trained its sights almost exclusively on Clinton after the revelation last March that she used a private email server during her tenure as secretary of state. That new focus flipped a broad-based probe of the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on September 11, 2012, into what Podliska described as "a partisan investigation."

Podliska, who was fired after nearly 10 months as an investigator for the Republican majority, is now preparing to file a lawsuit against the select committee next month, alleging that he lost his job in part because he resisted pressure to focus his investigative efforts solely on the State Department and Clinton's role surrounding the Benghazi attack. He also alleges he was fired because he took leave from the committee to fulfill his military service obligations, which would be an unlawful firing.

"I knew that we needed to get to the truth to the victims' families. And the victims' families, they deserve the truth -- whether or not Hillary Clinton was involved, whether or not other individuals were involved," he told CNN in an exclusive TV interview that will air Sunday on "State of the Union." "The victims' families are not going to get the truth and that's the most unfortunate thing about this."

Okay I think that should be it. Adding this to what was admitted by Kevin McCarthy back in September seems to signal to me that it's game over for this charade.

In my opinion the Democrats involved with this fiasco should quit, and Hillary should ABSOLUTELY refuse to testify later this month.

At this point if you have any doubts about the legitimacy of this witch hunt you are either a dyed in the wool conservative, or you simply hate Hillary Clinton's guts.

And take a moment to consider this.

Currently the Republicans are spending in excess of 3 million dollars on this "investigation" and that is AFTER they have already spent multiple millions of dollars on past investigations and hearings.

And all of that is to stop ONE presidential candidate?

At this point you have to ask yourself, WHY are the Republicans so incredibly terrified of Hillary Clinton? I mean nobody is starting a House Select Committee to block the Bernie Sanders campaign, or the Martin O' Malley campaign, or the other guy whose name I can't remember's campaign.

And then the follow up question should be, if they are that afraid of Hillary then how can we NOT choose her as our nominee in 2016?

Just thought I'd put that out there.

Simply, they know she would win against any of the candidates they've dragged out. They are afraid of her winning.

Agree with 8:26 -- I also think she will drop out -- she looks tired and puffy often. the previously reported serious brain/eye health problems, wearing dark glasses indoors, something is up. I know, I know a major tabloid last week did a story on it, so it can't be true, but...just saying.

Hey, "Feel the bern", I'm voting for Hillary in the primary but if she ends up not being the nominee then my vote goes to Bernie. Can you and your fellow Bernie backers say the same or do you wish to have a Scalia-Thomas-Alito Court in perpetuity?

I'm not prepared to consider this the smoking gun just yet. The Republicans are vociferously countering Podliska's claims with their own (existing) accusations against him. Since he sounds like as dedicated an anti-Hillary Clinton wingnut as any Republican on that committee is, I don't necessarily believe everything he's saying. He could be just trying to muddy the waters to make himself look better in light of the committee's several problems with him.

They are all on the same page politically, so for this guy to appear to be giving Hillary Clinton any ammunition to use against the committee just seems really, really odd, and I'm not taking it at face value.

I don't get it either. Unless he's dead-set on getting a big settlement and needs to come up with a splashy case against the committee. I'm very suspicious when he says 'the families are not going to get to the truth.' If he is talking about facts, they are known. If he is talking about conspiracy theories, fuck him.

Good point G. I will consider all before casting my ballot for the Democratic nominee on March 6, 2016 here in Maine.

Truthfully, I want as our candidate the one who has the best chance of winning. Be that Hillary, Bernie or even Joe, they are all great choices.

IMO Joe Biden would be a shitty choice and I hope he does NOT run. I'll never forget what he did to Anita Hill who tried to warn us what a piece of shit Clarence Thomas was during his Supreme Court hearings. Instead, Biden kissed Clarence Thomas' ass. He is not reliably pro-choice. And he's in the pocket of the credit card industry. BIden would by far be the one I'd have to hold my nose the hardest to vote for.

So, let me get this right 6:41
You hope Hillary is not the nominee, and that Joe Biden does not run.

You're so good at hating that there is only one name you can vote for: Sarah Palin. Don't fret that she's too scared to run, write her in. You can bet SHE will be writing her own name in.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous8:58 PM

No, you did not get that right, 7:53. Nowhere did I say I hope Hillary is not the nominee. What I said was I hope Joe Biden doesn't run. Name one thing I said about Joe Biden that isn't true. Also point out where I said I hated anybody. What this has to do with Sarah Palin, I do not know. I said I'd hold my nose and vote for Biden if I had to. You seem to have some real reading comprehension problems.

Perhaps you need to keep your emotional problems to yourself. If it's so stressful for you discard what you believe are your principles in order to vote for a Biden Democratic nominee, perhaps you should just take to your fainting couch instead and try to work through your psychological conflict.

The GOP's simple comeback is that any partisan motivation is secondary...yes, the committee investigation would damage Clinton because her actions--Benghazi or the emails--are damaging. They'll say her refusal to testify proves she's scared and covering up.

She needs to show up to testify and prove she's the one on the high road.

Feel the bern, hope you're not drawing social security because if the Republicans take over they intend to get rid of your entitlement. Go over to www.politicususa.com and read what the small (40) Freedom Caucus is DEMANDING from the next Speaker of the House. If they don't get their way (Their Way or the Highway) they are shutting down the government in December. Our economy will really be in a tailspin and possibly the world's. Scary stuff appropriately in time for Halloween.

Did you watch Cecile Richards at the Congressional witch hunt on Planned Parenthood? Would you say Richards was more effective by appearing before the committee and showing them to be fools or should she have refused to appear? How would not appearing have been played in the media?

Kind of OT but I hear that the Freedom Caucus will shut down the government if funding isn't completely cut for PP. Also, Jason Chaffitz (R, pos) admitted PP didn't do anything wrong/illegal but that's not going to stop him from spending more of our abundant tax dollars to set up another select committee to investigate it. It's the new shiny distraction for Republican base voters since they're no longer talking about voting to defund Obama Care for the 63rd time.

I've lived in Maryland all my life. I like MOM (Martin O'Malley) very much and think he will make a great POTUS one day. Hillary Clinton will get my vote this year, but hopefully, MOM will be the VP on that ticket. MOM definitely has what it takes to make a good president, so this would pave the way for him. It is good that the media has not focused on him. He'll slide in under the radar just like Obama did.
