Courtesy of The Tennessean:
Responding to a mass shooting at an Oregon community college that left 10 people dead, Tennessee Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey on Friday encouraged fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to consider getting a gun.
Ramsey, R-Blountville, made those remarks in a Facebook post Friday, one day after a shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Ore., left 10 people dead. The suspect, 26-year-old Chris Harper Mercer, reportedly asked victims to name their religious affiliation during the massacre.
In his Facebook post, Ramsey links to a New York Post article with the headline "Oregon gunman singled out Christians during rampage." Ramsey groups the Oregon shooting with other recent mass shootings in the nation. "Whether the perpetrators are motivated by aggressive secularism, jihadist extremism or racial supremacy, their targets remain the same: Christians and defenders of the West," Ramsey said.
"While this is not the time for widespread panic, it is a time to prepare," he later adds. "I would encourage my fellow Christians who are serious about their faith to think about getting a handgun carry permit. I have always believed that it is better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have it.
"Our enemies are armed. We must do likewise."
You know I wonder how ole Ron Ramsey would feel if Islamic clerics were to give similar instruction to Muslims in this country? After all they are targeted for violence far more often due to their religion than are Christians.
More guns. Why do these idiots always think that more bullets in the air equals fewer people killed?
Personally I don't think that anybody who sees the world in stark black and white, who believes that morality is a gift from the sky gods, and who thinks that the End of Times are just around the corner, should EVER, and I mean EVER, have access to any kind of gun, sharp object, or pointy stick.
I'm just saying.
I am sure he got a message from the NRA = The check is in the mail". Idiot. Imagine a group of armed idiots, all shooting at the same time? Carnage.
ReplyDeleteIf time was available, I'd type out what I can't copy paste....."how to solve gun violence" is truly what we SHOULD be doing. https://twitter.com/ravivullman/status/650338519639048192/photo/1

DeleteSo true!!!
If this knuckle dragger believes that, then his religion has failed.
ReplyDeleteI have heard a few news stories that say that the Oregon shooter did NOT ask about religion, and that it was a made up story.
ReplyDeleteWill have to research that and post later if I can find the references
One victim seems to be at the center of this statement.

DeleteI think it was a made up story also! I can't find any sources to add to "The man whose daughter told him" Yea, right, and the shooter was a BLM supporter who hated whites....that's another made up story.
If you get verification of this story being false and I think it is, please post here. Thanks
I had a discussion with someone last night and they said "Well why would he make up this story"? I said why wouldn't he? Its all over CNN & FOX.
I have heard no other verification of this Bullshit.

****
Yep! ONE person and her father. All the rest of the victims haven't said anything. Oh and this "victim" has a gofundme account!
I call Bullshit on it. She or her dad made up this shit. Anyone who watches faux news knows what will fly over there.
I'm surprise the BLM thing didn't get traction b/c that was another lie.
Funny how none of the other students have step up to collaborate her story?
10:14, i am dubious of the "shooting Christians" story and don't like the idea of a gofundme account, but the fact remains that this person is still a victim of gun violence. It doesn't help your case to use the word victim in quotation marks.
DeleteMy question regarding the supposed 'targeting' of Christians:
ReplyDeleteThe shooter reportedly asked the victims if they were Christian and, if they said they were, he told them that it was good because they would see God in about one second. Were all of the victims Christian? If not, did he choose to NOT shoot anyone who wasn't Christian?
I suspect that, if I were in that situation and heard the gunman shooting people who said they were Christian, I might deny that particular religious affiliation when it came to be my turn. So, did he specifically target Christians or did he just shoot everyone and merely mention their impending meeting with God if they happened to be Christian?
Obviously, the right wing is going to exploit this situation to prove the discrimination of Christians they love to claim is so rampant in our country. However, it seems that it's a bit premature to make those claims without all the facts regarding the shooter's actions.

I totally agree with you and also, too, the Sheriff up there HE HAS A AGENDA and he is not letting out anything that would confirm or deny that "Christian" BS. Also...HELLO! Remember the days when a news source had to have AT LEAST TWO different sources before running with that "news"? Now they get shit off twitter that may or may not be true and run with it!!!
Oh and the girls father, he had enough time to set up a go fund me account. That pretty much shows me... HE HAS A AGENDA!!!!
I wish someone would call Bullshit on it but like the PP faked videos everyone has already blabbed without checking sources, its hard to put THAT cat back in the bag.
Pam Gellar, blabbing, fox, Cnnn the usual sources. Oh where's mini me? And Mommy dearest? They will be next.
What about the real persecuted people? The wom3n who go to get a abortion. The Sikhs who in RWNJ look like Muslims but aren't, Blacks, Hispanics!? Spare me this bullshit about god being taken out of the square.......gag me! STFU assholes!
"More guns. Why do these idiots always think that more bullets in the air equals fewer people killed?"
ReplyDeleteIt's simple, Gryph, it's all in their perfectly illogical thinking which applies to every aspect of their world view:
Fewer gun laws make the country safer.
Lower taxes for the rich causes more job creation
[when trickle-down economics has been show not to work].
Building walls solves our immigration problem (like prohibition solved our alcoholism problem).
Less access to healthcare makes us healthier.
Removing access to contraception causes less sex, therefore fewer pregnancies and fewer abortions.
Closing abortion clinics results in fewer unwanted pregnancies and therefore fewer abortions.
Upholding religious freedom for one arbitrary group (Christians) [is achieved] by suppressing religious freedom of other groups (Muslims).
Not allowing gays to marry protects family values.
Etc.
(H/T to Norbert Haupt)
Welfare makes people weak.
Widespread black voter suppression prevents voter fraud.
If you don't get caught, it's not a crime.
Do anything to want, god will forgive you.
If you say a lie enough times, it will become the truth.
The list goes on...
And if a fact is contrary to what you believe, it automatically becomes a lie or merely an opinion.
Just forget trying to understand this kind of brain -- VOTE da bums out!
So all blacks should be armed because, you know, the shooting in the black church. And all Jews should be armed because of the attacks on synagogues. And.......
ReplyDeleteAnd all Sikhs should be armed because of the shooting in Minneapolis where the shooter attacked them in their temple. Can't get much more targeted than that
DeleteWe in TN are trying to be as ignorant as they are in TX and FL. You can add MS, AL, and LA to the mix. Glory Hallelujah, Praise the Lord, now gitcha guns and lets go kill somebody. I just read a survey on HP that showed millenniums are leaving religion, primarily because of the evangelicals. That really deserves a Hallelujah. I started out as a Southern Baptist and now I am definitely an Agnostic and moving closer to Atheism every day I hear another poor me Christian story.
ReplyDeleteEven if all the victims, survivors or not, are Christian, it's essentially meaningless in a society that is predominantly Christian. He didn't shoot a large enough number of people to be statistically significant.
ReplyDeleteIOW, it's entirely possible that the people he ran into just happened to be Christian.
And I have read that story is complete nonsense, too. It reminds me of the Columbine shooting, where one set of parents claimed their daughter had, after some troubled years, dedicated herself to Gawd and refused to deny her religion to Harris and/or Klebold.
Witnesses in the room said that no such conversation occurred between the shooter and the girl, but that doesn't matter. The parents still made money off the book.
and the looney clown car weighs in? The very bags full of guns and hate that BELONG to the rnc and gop and the t bags.......now weigh in on the mentally ill? How outrageous is that? the very loons that have promoted, excused, twisted and pushed the extreme. Wake up people and expose these folks for who and what they are. Wake up. and the republicans defunded mental facilities years and years ago. We have empty buildings. Use them. Start with the paranoid trigger happy republican and their kids..
ReplyDelete"Arm yourself"
ReplyDelete"enemies"
...what could be more Christian than that?
Yeah.... isn't it remarkable how they just ignore Matthew 26: 51-52:
Delete"And behold, one of those who were with Jesus reached and drew out his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear. Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword."
This is so great.....
ReplyDelete"How about we treat every young man who wants to buy a gun like every woman who wants to get an abortion - mandatory 48-hr waiting period, parental permission, a note from his doctor proving he understands what he's about to do, a video he has to watch about the effects of gun violence, an ultrasound wand up the ass (just because). Let's close down all but one gun shop in every state and make him travel hundreds of miles, take time off work, and stay overnight in a strange town to get a gun. Make him walk through a gauntlet of people holding photos of loved ones who were shot to death, people who call him a murderer and beg him not to buy a gun.
It makes more sense to do this with young men and guns then with women and health care, right? I mean no woman getting an abortion has killed a room full of people in seconds, right?"
This is brilliant. It needs to be broadcast far and wide.
DeleteWhy is this in quotes -- did you get this from somewhere? or did you write it?

DeleteRon Ramsey is a jackass.
ReplyDeleteWhat never ceases to amaze me about these "good guy with a gun" types is that they ALWAYS assume that they are the good guy and it's inevitably the OTHER guy who is bad (or the other guy who is wrong, it often comes to the same tragic end in gun incidents).
DeletePride, self-delusion, deadly weapon---what could go wrong?

Oregon Shooter’s Father Speaks: ‘How On Earth’ Did He Have That Many Guns? (VIDEO)
ReplyDeletehttp://www.addictinginfo.org/2015/10/04/oregon-shooters-father-speaks-how-on-earth-did-he-have-that-many-guns-video/
I feel badly for him, he's a victim of the same lax laws his son took advantage of to get guns. Once a person;s of age, even if diagnosed as mentally ill, can't be forced to take the meds that would help them, they can sign themselves out of psychiactric hospitals.
DeleteUntil we get stricter background checks, close loopholes and straw purchases, nothing's going to change. Defund the NRA, Tax bullets like we did cigarettes and gas, and we're starting in the right direction.
When Jesus said, "The well-armed shall inherit the earth," he was so right. I especially like those passages in the Bible that describe him carrying a sword and spear.
ReplyDeleteLol !
DeleteTheir extreme black and white thinking is the major problem.
ReplyDeleteDiscussion to recommendations for gun control is taken and twisted to intent to take ALL the guns away. There is no reasoning with people afflicted with all or nothing thinking.
Kill for Jesus....Isn't that in the holy writ?
ReplyDeleteAnd for the next magic act, he'll turn water to wine, walk on water, and make a salt lick out of a woman who didn't obey.
