Appearing on Meet The Press, newly elected House Speaker Paul Ryan was directly asked by host Chuck Todd to name one thing he could accomplish in the first six months that “the country will be impressed with.”
Ryan did not answer.
Instead, Ryan went through a litany of Republican talking points. “Working families are falling behind, the economy is stale… our foreign policy is a disaster,” Ryan said.
Of course Ryan cannot answer this question, because the answer is that they will accomplish absolutely nothing. Changing the Speaker, changes nothing about the dysfunction of the Congress.
The only way the Republicans can get anything accomplished, while they are in the middle of such all consuming internal strife, is by winning the White House.
And if they do that, then we are all well and truly fucked.
If the republicans win, I will truly have to decide if I want to live in this country. I love the USA but don't want to live in a theocracy.
ReplyDeleteHow dare they ask such a gotcha question!
ReplyDeleteIt's a "gotcha question". "Liberal Media!" It all boils down to: he's now in charge, and doesn't have a clue as to what he's doing (or wants to evade responsibility).
DeleteIf the republicans win (buy) the presidency and control the house and senate, there is not a singe law that protects women, consumers, the environment, workers' rights, and voter rights that will not be gutted. Of course, the SCOTUS will back the republicans on all of these issues.
ReplyDeleteThe Republicans will not buy the next election cycle if the voters get out there and vote.
DeleteDon't forget, President Obama and VP Biden beat the shit out of 'Republicans' and they were Democrats!!!! Has America forgotten.
Vote, vote, vote!!!! Makes sure you friends and family members are registered, have the proper ID to vote and cast their ballots! Simple as that!
Voters must remember we are voting for the Supreme Court members this go-round. The group has many aged members and it is to our children and grandchildren's future, especially the females, we owe the crucial vote in 2016 to preserve their rights through guaranteeing some progressive voices on that court long into the future.
ReplyDeleteFrankly low brain level Republicans like Paul Ryan and his fellow teabaggers are the reason for the disaster that this Congress, like its predecessor, is. Republicans have not had an original and positive idea for the country in decades now. Maybe it's really centuries. Anyway, since Lincoln freed the slaves.

This is so true, and unfortunately, the republicans think that paul ryan is a budget wonk. In the past whenever he was asked for details about his great budget ideas, he always said the details needed to be worked out. He may have been a good weiner mobile driver but the lack of ideas from the gop does not bode well for the next year.
DeleteOT can we have a contest?
ReplyDeleteGuess the date when Sarah makes her first comment on Bristol's new disappointment.
Winner will have bragging rights on IM for a year.
Should we be guessing the year instead?
DeleteHouse Democrats Waste No Time In Fighting Back Against Paul Ryan’s Lies
ReplyDeleteAssistant Democratic Whip Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) called out Paul Ryan for lying about immigration reform and warned the new speaker that his pro-billionaire economic agenda is dead on arrival.

What Ryan can do for the American people is to investigate SarahPac, Sarah Palin and the rest of the people living off of SarahPac. That charade has gone on long enough.
ReplyDeleteAre you Kidding? He helped design ALL that SHIT...Up to his lying Teeth. He is FULL of it.

Paul Ryan has never impressed me! I wasn't supportive of him when he ran with Mitt Romney and they lost - thank god!
ReplyDeleteThe media hyped him as to Speaker of the House - it was nothing more and nothing less.
He'll succeed at nothing and will obstruct with the rest of his gang! Just watch!
Mr. P90X is our speaker of the house. Seriously, the crying guy was waaaay "better".
ReplyDeleteI agree, 8:46.
DeletePaul Ryan could very well engineer the end of his political career in the next 6 months. His Speaker of the House wasn't overwhelmingly popular. And Paul Ryan glories in a victim role. I suspect the demands of his young family will begin to assume gigantic proportions when his weak intellect begins to stress with the chore of doing day care for the infantile tea party.
ReplyDeleteRyan is just an asshole....that's all I got on him.
ReplyDeleteOh, and never vote for him, his work ethic stinks; doesn't want to work weekends helping run the effing country. That would make for a terrible president BTW.
He didn't say bench press 200 lb?
ReplyDeleteTpdd wouldn't ask a democrat that kind of question. The damn lsm is liberal slanted. Can't wait for the day Paul needs help from Nancy Pelosi and she says "Sorry, I had plans with my family and they come first"
