I hope people will email this meme to every Republican governor that opposes taking refugees.

    3. And Gov. Maggie Hassan of New Hampshire. A Democrat. 32 states in all, at the moment, are trying to close their borders, but The law is clear: States cannot reject Syrian refugees.

The women refugees should just say they are pregnant & will have to abort unless they can stay here. Then the phony Christians won't be able to get them here fast enough.

      Deni -

Before birth they are to be referred to as 'sacred, precious, unique, human angels-on-earth'.

After delivery, that designation changes to 'lazy, good-for-nothing takers'.

      It's all in the name.

As long as we have ignorant shits like the repubes running for President and spouting hatred and fear, accompanied by the Fundie preachers teaching hate and intolerance, statements of this sort - while extremely true! - will fail to do any good.

Those who understand the sentiments like this are already convinced and this sort of stuff is merely "preaching to the choir".

This heartbreaking photo only serves to bring home the point that many people who claim to be pro life are not. They are pro forced birth.

After the birth, they really cannot be bothered.

I call it "Abortion After Birth."

Just to let them know what they are really doing...

Because they have no individual conscience. They simply do whatever their leaders tell them, and then feel very pleased with themselves.

      Just following orders, right?

They've somehow convinced themselves that their Christian beliefs only apply to a select, monochrome group of like-minded people.

Anyone else is an 'other' so they just don't count.

  9. It is the moment of truth for America and she is failing -- with states shutting their borders to refugees... what does the Statue of Liberty stand for? She might as well be replaced by a grieving woman, her head in her hands.

The statement above this picture is a non sequitur (Latin for" it doesn't follow" -see? "wingnut" Republicans know some Latin!) No one ever denied that refugee children are people. All refugees are. But that doesn't change the fact that there's a limit to how many people you can take into an entity before you change the entity into something very different( a nation, a community, a family, etc..) Also, I'm wondering: if these refugees were white socially conservative Christians would Gryphen be so eager for America to welcome them? Or would he be concerned with what effect they'd have on American culture? Somehow I don't see him advocating a move that would give America more Rick Santorum fans.

And it isn't true that because you oppose legal abortion you should be willing to support the children who others give birth to from the moment of conception until they are adults. Unless you created a child you aren't responsible for a child's living expenses. The society already has welfare, food stamps, and unemployment benefits. Children whose families are truly destitute are not without societal and governmental help. Sorry, but this argument fails. It's like saying that one is "anti-education" unless he's willing to support state-funded schooling for everyone from kindergarten through the last day of graduate school.

5:28 knows one term for a logical fallacy then proceeds with a rant full of 12 more of them! Hilarious, and confirmation of a wing nut mentality on full display. Your point really bothered him, Grypen! He's a Trump supporter.

There is so much wrong with your convoluted thinking; you have only proved your wingnuttery and assholery.
Please don't try to say you are Christian unless you add "fascist" after it.

      1. Ten thousand people being assimilated into a national population of 320 million - NOT going to change a damn thing about our culture (which, incidentally, was CREATED BY IMMIGRANTS!!!)

      2. I suspect that Gryphen, like most people at this blog, would welcome people from ANY religion or political persuasion if they were fleeing from war-torn countries and fearing for their lives.

      3. Conservatives are trying everything they can think of to ELIMINATE welfare, SNAP programs, unemployment benefits and every other governmental support program (as well as fairly-funded public education).

Actually, I'm a she, not a he. And no, I don't support Trump. I'll probably support Ted Cruz. I was planning on supporting Scott Walker.

As for being a Christian, yes I'm one. And I've done very extensive Bible reading and study. Although I'll admit that the level of Bible knowledge among evangelicals is embarrassingly low. This is a problem that the evangelical community needs to address.

And no need to tell anyone to "fuck off." We're all adults here. Shouldn't you be glad that a "wingnut" would even give Gryphen's blog the time of day? Every time I read this blog I'm giving Gryphen, and those who think like him, the chance to influence my thinking. Isn't this the kind of open-mindedness you want to see?

@5:28/11:04 - hi again from 6:09. I didn't tell you to do anything; unlike "Christian you," I don't use swear words on blogs. Also, I understand that if you truly "support life," you'd support children of refugees. In fact, you already do if you support Rafael Cruz' kid. You're a hypocrite, honey, and I think you're here to troll. You don't know the Constitution, either, or you could never support Cruz. I find you hilarious, truly. You are the epitome of wing nut--knotted up in pretzels trying to explain why an unborn fetus matters more to you than helping living children from a war-ravaged country.

There has been unrest in Syria and other areas of the ME for quite some time. What I can't figure out is why people would choose to start families when their future is so uncertain. Is it a birth control issue? If there was impending chaos in my region I'd certainly put off having children. It is sad that so many are suffering but perhaps child bearing should have been put off until a more suitable time? Here in the first world we are constantly questioning the wisdom of procreating because our climate future is so uncertain and that combined with overpopulation will certainly lead to food and energy shortages within the next generation. I don't want to seem crass and uncaring but perhaps it is better to wait for children until you are settled in a land less prone to upheaval.

I'll dive in here. I do not care what religion (or no religion at all) anyone chooses. I also do not care about political persuasion. I do care about women and their rights to both privacy and choice. If you don't like abortion, don't have one. If I choose to have one because I do not want to bring a child into this world (for any reason) it is none of your business. Unwanted children born into poverty and often neglected or abused as well as living on the taxpayer dollar are not given the same status as the unborn by many anti-choicers. Compassion is not part of the discussion. The fear and loathing being disseminated by the political and media establishments is abhorrent. May you never have to flee a war torn country. May you never need a helping hand. May your fear always overwhelm your principles. If you believe in a judgement day you will be judged by your actions. Lack of compassion would be very near the top of you do not get into heaven. I would take one of thoae families into my home today. I would feed them, clothe them, open a space for their daily prayers, try to help in any way that I could and I do not identify with any religion. I do identify with compassion and relief of suffering for all on this planet. Give in to the fear and the terrorists win.

Not to belittle what's happening in the world today, but many of those so virulently against the compassion of helping refugees find freedom worship one who's parents drove an ass from town to town and were repeatedly told "no room at the inn". I doubt they'd recognize their own Jesus in their fellow man. FWIW I'm one who chooses not to believe in any organized religion, but I don't go around telling others to do the same. This isn't what America stands for. Had someone not reached a hand out to help, many of us wouldn't be here today. Some of us were forced, abused, and used as slaves, and that's not what America's about either.
