"You will not have my hatred." Message from a Parisian man to the terrorists who murdered his wife.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

YOU WILL NOT HAVE MY HATRED

Friday night, you took an exceptional life -- the love of my life, the mother of my son -- but you will not have my hatred. I don't know who you are and I don't want to know, you are dead souls. If this God, for whom you kill blindly, made us in his image, every bullet in the body of my wife would have been one more wound in his heart.

So, no, I will not grant you the gift of my hatred. You're asking for it, but responding to hatred with anger is falling victim to the same ignorance that has made you what you are. You want me to be scared, to view my countrymen with mistrust, to sacrifice my liberty for my security. You lost.

I saw her this morning. Finally, after nights and days of waiting. She was just as beautiful as when she left on Friday night, just as beautiful as when I fell hopelessly in love over 12 years ago. Of course I am devastated by this pain, I give you this little victory, but the pain will be short-lived. I know that she will be with us every day and that we will find ourselves again in this paradise of free love to which you have no access.

We are just two, my son and me, but we are stronger than all the armies in the world. I don't have any more time to devote to you, I have to join Melvil who is waking up from his nap. He is barely 17-months-old. He will eat his meals as usual, and then we are going to play as usual, and for his whole life this little boy will threaten you by being happy and free. Because no, you will not have his hatred either.

You are a better man than I Antoine Leiris.

    Good Grief! What a HEART!

Antoine, you are a better man than I. May you carry that love with you all your life and help your son spread it throughout the world!

I sincerely hope that whatever YOU consider holy spreads farther and faster than that which those who did this wish for theirs.

Obama Takes Down GOPers' Refugee Rhetoric: They're Afraid Of Orphans (VIDEO)

President Obama on Tuesday night tore into Republicans' recent focus on barring Syrian refugees from the United States following the terrorist attacks in Paris, mocking conservatives for suddenly being scared of "three-year-old orphans."

During a press conference with the president of the Philippines, Obama was asked about lawmakers' concern about the U.S. plan to admit additional refugees from Syria.

Obama said that the U.S. is "not well-served when, in response to a terrorist attack, we descend into fear and panic. We don't make good decisions if it's based on hysteria or an exaggeration of risks."

...When candidates say, we wouldn't admit three-year-old orphans -- that’s political posturing. When individuals say that we should have a religious test and that only Christians -- proven Christians -- should be admitted -- that’s offensive and contrary to American values."

"I cannot think of a more potent recruitment tool for ISIL than some of the rhetoric that’s been coming out of here during the course of this debate. ISIL seeks to exploit the idea that there is a war between Islam and the West," he continued. "And when you start seeing individuals in positions of responsibility, suggesting that Christians are more worthy of protection than Muslims are in a war-torn land, that feeds the ISIL narrative. It’s counterproductive, and it needs to stop."

Obama then criticized politicians who describe themselves as "tough," noting that they are now afraid of women and children fleeing terrorism.

"These are the same folks oftentimes who suggest that they’re so tough that just talking to Putin or staring down ISIL, or using some additional rhetoric somehow is going to solve the problems out there. But apparently, they’re scared of widows and orphans coming into the United States of America as part of our tradition of compassion," he said. "First, they were worried about the press being too tough on them during debates. Now they’re worried about three-year-old orphans. That doesn’t sound very tough to me."

That's my president, the adult in the room, as usual.

    1. This is why Bush II was the worst U.S. President ever. It was 8 years of bad decisions made in a state of fear.

It's why history will deem Obama one of the best U.W. Presidents ever.

And it's why we cannot allow Trump, Carson, Cruz, Rubio and the rest of the clown car to be elected to the Oval Office. Because decisions made in fear and panic are always bad ones. And these clowns are nothing but terrified chickens with no heads.

The World Recoiled In Disgust As American Conservatives Gleefully Politicized Paris Tragedy

...While world leaders expressed support and empathy for the carnage, and French media put on a “master class in how to conduct responsible, measured journalism,” right-wing pundits dumped their sewage on the pages of Facebook and Twitter and on American news networks.

As French journalists made note of the many tweets and messages of well wishes from across the globe, conservatives competed with each other to say the most offensive idiotic things they could about the attacks, even while the violence was still unfolding in Paris streets. Mother Jones compiled a a list of some of the worst offenders including Newt Gingrich, Judith Miller, Monica Crowley, Hugh Hewitt, Ann Coulter, Rob Lowe, James Woods, and Rep. Jeff Duncan, among others. Even Liz Cheney got in on the act.

One of the worst tweets of the night came from the nasty Michelle Malkin, who was DESTROYED on Twitter over her tasteless tweet on the Paris attacks and Obama:

Refusing to take any refugees from Syria wasn’t enough for some Republicans, many of whom have floated the suggestion that we take only Christian refugees from Syria.

The political benefits of this are obvious; you get to simultaneously make irrationally panicked people feel like you’ve got their safety at heart, pander to the “good” Christian people in your base by identifying them as the good guy, while also pandering to the Pamela Geller types who hate Muslims even more than they love Jesus. Meanwhile, you force Democrats into a position where they’re defending an easily-demonized group of people.

The success of this plan, though, depends on never uttering it within earshot of a reporter with more than two functioning brain cells, a feat which former Florida Governor and current Republican presidential wishful Jeb Bush couldn’t quite pull off. I’d like to give Kasie Hunt credit for making this look easy, but it actually was easy:

This is what grace under pressure looks like. By denying his hatred, he's taking back his power while paying tribute to the life and love he lost. We all laugh and cry in the same language. Where does his strength come from? I doubt I could do it.

  17. The page appears to be down now.

But I expect it's already gone viral. Wouldn't be surprised if it appears on Colbert tonight.

BTW I loved James Taylor's version of the Marseilles last night.
