Final images of the day, just because.

Caption: First Lady Michelle Obama snuggles against President Barack Obama before a videotaping for the 2015 World Expo, in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House.

Caption: President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama hold hands as they listen to Rep. John Lewis during an event to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday and the Selma to Montgomery civil rights marches.

I saw these over at The Obama Diary and I just felt the need to share after suddenly feeling a wave of emotion over the fact that we only have these two incredible people in the White House for one more year.

I don't think it dawned on me just now much I would miss them until I saw these photos, and now it is literally all I can think about.

We've come so far in these last seven years and I truly believe we could not have accomplished half as much if any other candidate had been elected in 2008.

Here's hoping that the person who replaces President Obama stays true to his vision, and continues to move us in the path he set before us.

And that of course means it most certainly cannot be any of those clowns on Republican side of the aisle.

Thank you so very much for sharing these photos and your comments! I have so much respect, admiration, gratitude and affection for them.

I tend to push thoughts of his no longer being our president out of my mind as soon as they are created. I just can't bear it; it makes me too sad.

So proud to have been part of the shivering, but excited crowd that night so long ago when we caucused and supported him at Begich M.S.!!

What a wonderful way to end today's blog! Thanks, again!

There will never be another president and First Lady like the Obamas. People will remember how President Obama got our country out of a depression.

Yep, he saved the economy. He accomplished SO much. Even did what no other U.S. president was ever been able to accomplish, The Affordable Care Act. And many other accomplishments.
I get so sad thinking about January of 2017. I will miss him terribly.

And may I say that I am MORE than happy to have part of my tax dollars contribute to their $3.7 million Christmas holiday in Hawaii!

    Explode, RWNJ's heads, explode!
Best damn President of my lifetime.

Yep, it's the best 3.7 million I ever spent!

I'm going to miss them terribly. As much as he has done, imagine what this man could have accomplished with cooperation from the right, it makes me sick at the waste.

Thank you Gryphen! Looking forward to
President Obama's first book after his term
is over and First Lady Michelle's first
book at the same time. By the way Palin,
no ghost writers for them. They will write
    every word!

Yes, G., seeing those photos makes me feel teary-eyed, because there's something about a couple finding the true mate and sometimes people don't find that true one. Even then, it's about commitment and endurance despite the odds. But when the odds are overcome, it inspires us and gives us hope and strength.
I haven't seen as devoted a Presidential couple as the Obamas, and before anyone says it's fake, it's proven in how they act towards others and how they stay faithful to each other through all the odds.

I don't think there's been another couple like this except the Carters, also a deeply loving duo. There is definitely a special vibe with these two..and they are so cool. And I will miss watching Sasha and Malia grow up to be the wonderful women they will be...we have been blessed with this family.

    1. I agree with you regarding the Carters; they have been happily married for 69 years!

The Obamas are indeed a very special family as well.

Agree with all the comments earlier PLUS: no scandals during his term, no gauche moments, no crooked doings, no showing off his belly surgery scar (like LBJ did), no being mean to his dogs by ear-pulling (LBJ again), no inappropriate response when there's a disaster, no infidelities like Clinton -- only solid dignified work I really really respect. History will show both of them to have been a shining example at a v difficult time made far harder by ill-willed Repubs.

Given the malice of the Right wing it was important that any black president should be a strong man with a strong wife in a strong marriage, and that's the Obamas exactly.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

And no unpaid-for and mistaken wars that cost thousands of American lives and tens of thousands (or more) of lives of people from a land wrongly invaded, no near total economic collapse, no constant denial of climate change, and so many more things that the previous president and his political party wrought upon this nation.

  9. Here's something to ponder, over the respite of the holiday season:

Imagine just for a little while, how much better off every single American would be, if the traitors who tried to sabotage each and every thing this President tried to do, had instead done what they were elected to do (faithfully represent the interests of the citizens who elected them.)

Things like record unemployment; soaring stock markets (even more than they are now); full withdrawal of forces from the Middle East; equal pay for women, and a badly needed hike of the minimum wage...

Reform of healthcare so that insurance companies were no longer involved; the tax credit for shipping jobs offshore, rescinded and turned into a stiff, retroactive PENALTY.

I'm sure everyone can quickly think of several other things we SHOULD have been able to enjoy--had obstructing progress not been the the number one priority of the right wing.

Has anyone, including Sarah's dysfunctional offspring, ever seen Sarah and Todd Palin in any romantic photos together? My guess is that they can't stand each other. Sarah can only dream of being like the Obamas.

I know how you feel. I'm looking forward to seeing the Obamas and the Bidens back on the campaign trail in 2016 for one last blast where we can relive happy memories of 2008.

There are too many superlatives to describe my respect for this first family. I love visiting that site, and think Sousa has done an excellent job at capturing the respect and love these two wonderful people have shown each other, and the love they have for their girls. We've got to GOTV like there's no tomorrow, too much is at stake.

  16. No matter what else I experience in this miraculous, painful, wonderful, difficult life, I thank God that I was privileged to have President Obama and his First Lady in office in my lifetime. They have set new standards for strength, intelligence, leadership, and perseverance in the face of unprecented bigotry.
