One of those people was Army vet Kerri Peek:
Her request to veterans and active duty military members received quite a number of responses:
No one should be scared to live in a country because of their faith. #Sofia #iwillprotectyou pic.twitter.com/KjiBKrhh0D

And there were more. You see THAT is the country that we live in.
People like Donald Trump don't understand that. Which is why they can NEVER be its leader.
H/T to Addicting Info and THV 11.
Man, that brought tears to my eyes. WTF is wrong with people? GUARANTEED every single person who spews hateful, bigoted anti-American rhetoric thinks they are "patriots" and "Christian" even as they take a shit on the constitution, the vision of our Founders and everything that Jesus guy stood for.
ReplyDeleteWe know who the American Taliban are,
They put Trump to shame.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me cry. Happy tears. More of this, please.
ReplyDeleteMildred
Me too. There's still goodness in people. We haven't lost that. However I fear it's precious and fleeting at times. Happy tears:)
DeleteThank you all for your service and for standing up and defending real American values!
DeleteAs a veteran, I too stand with you #Iwillprotectyou
ReplyDeleteThree more. These people are heroes. Imagine what the Palin ilk will do to them.

The damage that Trump has done to our country in this exercise in megalomania will take years to repair. The other candidates, in their pathetic efforts to appeal to Trump supporters, have increased the destruction exponentially.
ReplyDeleteMy heart breaks for this little girl and all of the other people from the non-Christian, minority, LGBT, immigrant, female, and low-income communities who have been demonized by the GOP and made to feel that they are no longer valued citizens of the United States.
If I was a religious person, I would be praying that all of these toxic politicians would disappear from public life, never to pollute our environment again.
I don't see tRump damaging the country as much as the republican party, but you never know. tRump must GO!
DeleteI sent this to my son..A Marine..he will post a pick an flood FB with this...Sad day in USA when kids are scared..fuckin sad day!
ReplyDeleteInteresting, you don't see a presidential poll of the military as you would see in the past about how the (the military) support the republican candidate.
ReplyDeleteHow can you not be proud of our military after hearing this story?
Peace.
The post also brings wetness to my eyes. Thanks to current active military and past veterans who would stand up to the GOP/tea and it's hateful rhetoric.
ReplyDeleteShame also on Palin, Trump, the other pandering coward GOP/tea candidates and others who scare children and other people. Including even me.
The wrongly, self-righteous, fundamentalist Christians and GOP/tea have formed an alliance. They are truly evil people who are not in any way really Americans. They are selfish and empowered people with hate. Trying to bring Fascism Theocracy to the USA by combining their Christian cross into the USA flag. Along with a dollar sign.
Their aim is to limit everyone else's freedoms under the cover of how the Christians are being victimized or persecuted. Along with the wealthy being persecuted too.
Every American really needs to watch the GOP/tea and radical wrongly self-righteous Christians. They intend to destroy the USA by making it a USA just for themselves. A small minority of oligarchy of the wealthy and radical fundamentalist Christians.
The amount of malice being proudly aimed at Muslims by Republicans is horrifying. Even beyond that, it is simply reprehensible that the leading candidate for President can call for the extermination of the innocent family members of terrorists and be applauded for it.
ReplyDeleteHow can his supporters call themselves human, no less Christian, when they approve of the blind murder of children? And yet, in their next breath, they demand that all abortion be outlawed because it's the 'murder of innocent babies'.
It makes my head and my heart ache for this country.
ALL REAL Americans (notice I didn't say rill 'Murcans)should stand to protect those who are being bullied. Yes, bullied by the likes of middle school tRump.
ReplyDeleteI am neither military nor ex-military, but I stand with those who are for justice for all.
tRump and his crowd are the 'Murkin Taliban.
Actually, it's orange hair with a yellow streak down his back.
ReplyDeleteI wonder of Wunderkind Track will participate in #Iwillprotectyou? Nah, who am I kidding!?
ReplyDeleteSo moved by this story, I had to post it to my Facebook. I am so proud of these service people! They are what makes this country great!
ReplyDeleteI stand with #IWillProtect you as a Mom and a US Army Vet
ReplyDeleteBut the problem is none of us can protect this little girl or the other little girls and boys, their parents, Aunts Uncles, Grandparents, that Trump has put a target on.
The truth is that little girl or another one will most likely be assaulted or killed by someone due to Trumps hatefilleed Rhetoric.
Assaulta against Muslims or someone assumed to be Muslim have skyrocketed, a place of worship has been bombed, at least one store clerk has been shot, a child was assaulted at school, another asked by a teacher if they were a terrorist, because of the hate so far.
It's not so easy to hold back the flood gates of hate that this has opened.
Posts like this restore my faith in humanity. This is how real americans act. The right's fomenting of hate, and the leadership turning a blind eye out of fear and ignorance is disgusting. Everyone's acting like constitutional scholars, yet they ignore the separation of church and state. It's there for precisely this reason. Trump's got his two fingers up the GOP's nostrils while pounding the drums.
ReplyDeleteI hope this child and her family realize not everyone's ignorant and there are good people who support them.
In fairness to Trump (who I don't support, btw) he didn't say that Muslims who are already citizens should have their citizenship taken away and be thrown out of the country. He's talking about halting FURTHER Muslim immigration. While I don't support Trump's position, it isn't really right to accuse him of something he hasn't supported. I understand why this little girl is frightened. The adults in her life should explain to her, without defending Trump's political stands, what the difference is. As for the idea that banning further Muslim immigration would cause Americans to go after Muslim citizens of the U.S. with bigotry, that is a separate issue. So far as I know, no GOP candidate has advocated that Muslim-Americans be subjected to attack or ostracization (is that a word?) If they do advocate this I agree that they should be strongly denounced.
ReplyDeleteThat's not clear. What he said--"total and complete" ban on Muslims entering US territory--would seem to apply to US citizens and green card holders who are out of the country at the time the order is made. As also to Trump's own rich friends from Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. He obviously doesn't think very hard about the consequences of his words. But I don't blame American Muslims for being frightened by this rhetoric. And very proud of our service people here for raising their voices. Thank you for this service!
