Once again among Americans Hillary Clinton and President Obama are the most admired man and woman in the world. This makes twenty years in a row for Hillary.

Courtesy of Gallup:

Americans again name Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama the woman and man living anywhere in the world they admire most. Both win by wide margins over the next-closest finishers, Malala Yousafzai for women and Pope Francis and Donald Trump for men.

This makes the twentieth time that Hillary has claimed this honor and the eighth time for Obama.

I have to admit I am more than little saddened by the fact that Trump is so close to the top and completely puzzled by Palin's inclusion at all.

Palin isn't too surprising. The incidence of serious mental illness and low-IQ can more than account for not only her 1%, but Trump's 5%, also too.

6:25 PM Bastard is used in your Bible to describe the child of an unmarried woman like Bristol Palin. Your Bible also states that the unmarried woman should be stoned. Bristol and Sarah Palin would have had hard lives in Biblical times.

Oh, now we should censor words and remove them from the dictionary and common usage simply because some find them distasteful? That's a rather slippery slope, my dear.

      Bastard
      1. person born of unmarried parents; an illegitimate child.

But it seems rather fitting in Bristol's case, for both children, so if the shoe fits.

Palin must be a cat, because she certainly has nine lives. It does not make one bit of sense that with all her nonsensical wisdom and word salad, and succession of political and social blunders, that she continues to prevail in the eyes of Americans. So sad.

I take breaks as often as any of you. If you can't listen to the other side of an argument, you're a toadie at best. If you just want to hear opinions that agree with yours, you are no better than a pee ponder.

For your info, my point was, there are just as many people who hate Obama and Hillary as there are that love them. It comes with the territory. Donald Trump is another polarizing personality. And that is what we have become and the reason our country is becoming so dysfunctional. We have been divided and conquered. You can imagine that I'm your enemy because I don't agree with all of your or Gryphen's points of view and that's what the powers that be, want. The want us fragmented and looking at each others' differences instead of our common ground. Continue being part of the problem. Good day.

Hillary is a famous female so that's not surprising but surprising she's at the top. And the sitting president would be. Even though the media gave him a huge pass on everything. And honestly, it's not surprising a famous name like Sarah is on it. One cannot deny she has inspired people to stand up for themselves and work to fight against the status quo. 1 reason Trump resonates. He answers to no one, unlike everyone in DC except Bernie.

Yes, one can deny that she has done any such thing. She has inspired people to bring their nastiness, racism and hate into the open. Hardly praiseworthy.

How is Trump praiseworthy? He has a lot of money so can be as puerile, racist, vicious, and misogynistic as he likes with no consequences? He can express his contempt for American working people and engage in junior high mean girl twitter tantrums with anyone who dares to not worship him and that makes him praiseworthy?

Your entire comment is droolingly stupid.

Turn off Fox news and take a look at the stock market, the unemployment numbers, the housing market, the jobs report, the median household income, the number of our young men and women at war in the middle east and compare to 7 years ago. If facts can't change your mind you're just, well, stupid.

Anonymous 6:27, you are making things up out of whole cloth and have not even a scintilla of evidence to back up your statement. Obama and Biden do not hate each other at all. The two couples are in fact friends off the camera and work very well together as a team (both Barak and Joe, and Michelle and Dr. Biden), unlike Bush and Cheney and Reagan and Bush and Eisenhower and Nixon. If you were to read theobamadiary.com on a regular basis and see all the photographs of the body language between these two men, and if you realized that they frequently have lunch together and consult and meet together on a daily basis, you might realize how silly your statement is.

    4. Anonymous8:02 PM, I see your point but I don't think these people who say they are inspired by Palin are ignorant of her true nature at all.

I think at heart, whether they even know enough to admit it to themselves, they are just as nasty as she is and they are responding to someone who allows them to bring their darkest thoughts into the light of day. They wrap it all up in republican gun-toting jeebus and call themselves good.

Anyone being given a '1' could have had just one vote, therefore they should be discounted. The others are a laudable bunch with the notable exceptions of Carly Fiorina and Donald Trump, who are the only representatives of the Right.

There is a differing number of candidates by gender, so it would be really interesting to see the male candidates that were discounted.

These numbers reflect well on majority American values. All in all you done good, America. :)

An interesting historical view of the poll from 1946. Usually the most admired man is the sitting president while the first lady or a former first lady tend to be the most admired woman. I'd like to know who is polled and how the poll is conducted, but am having trouble finding that info.

Any poll that lists Ben Carson and Trump as most admired is suspect, to say the least. Jimmy Carter, who I think is the most honorable, humble, honest and worthwhile man on earth, isn't even mentioned. Carly Fiorina and Condoleezza Rice? Please. Obviously they had 23 seconds to think about it. I'm still trying to think of my most admired woman. And I'm a woman. At least Kim Kardooshian didn't make the list. That's something.
