President Obama is about to expand background checks on guns through executive order. Mark this in your calendars as the day the Right Wing goes ballistic.

Shut up, I gave you a chance.
Courtesy of the HuffPo:

President Barack Obama's advisers are finalizing a proposal that would expand background checks on gun sales without congressional approval.

White House adviser Valerie Jarrett says the president has asked his team to complete a proposal and submit it for his review "in short order." She says the recommendations will include measures to expand background checks.

Jarrett spoke Wednesday night at a vigil for the victims of the Newtown shooting, according to a summary provided by the White House.

After the mass shooting in Roseburg, Oregon, Obama said his team was looking for ways to tighten gun laws without a vote in Congress. White House officials have said they're exploring closing the so-called "gun show loophole" that allows people to buy weapons at gun shows and online without a background check.

Holy shit is this going to drive the conservatives around the bend.

But hey it's not like Obama did not give Congress plenty of time to pull their heads out of their asses and do this themselves.

Oh man is Christmas dinner going to get entertaining for those of us with conservative relatives.

I agree on your comment: "Shut up, I gave you a chance", but I'll be damned if I call them the right wing. They are, without a doubt, the "Wrong Wing"!

The majority of the conservatives are already around the bend. There is nothing the President can do to please them, so he might as well get what he can done.

    1. About time. And I suspect this will be the beginning of a year of Executive Orders to fix a lot of things Congress won't. He gave them 7 years...fuck it...that's over.

I already hear them screaming: "But, but, but... He is usurping the power of the presidency! Never before was there any president that has used Executive Orders!" (Cough and gag - because they all conveniently have forgotten that gwb (sic) used executive orders more than any president before him...)

GOOD FOR YOU, PRESIDENT OBAMA! (BTW: What took you so long?!)

President Obama and the Democrats in Congress have given the GOP majority ever chance to do something about gun control. No one, anywhere, can fault President Obama about this matter. Steps have got to be taken and doing something about background checks is a perfect way to start, especially in the quasi-criminal world of "gun shows." I think the straw-that-broke-the-camel's-back here was how blatantly and outrageously the GOP just let people on terror watch lists continue to be able to buy guns. Republicans in legislatures everywhere, including Congress, are wholly owned by the Koch brothers, Grover Norquist, and the NRA. They could care less about the Constitution.

This will burn plain's butt, disagrees with Trump:

"This, frankly, is the last straw in a high stack of ignorant mob panhandling ideas that have come out of his mouth since he announced his candidacy."

I can hear Sowah whining from Oregon. Whatever she spouts, god fearin,' bible quotin' savior that she is, just remember that she went out and bought Tawd a new rifle in honor of Sandy Hook, of which 3rd anniversary is in 4 days.

That, coupled with Tucson, says all one needs to know about Little Miss Priss.

I had a rather interesting short talk with one of the gun nuts yesterday. He started talking again about how Obama was trying to "take away our guns" when I'd had enough. I blurted out loudly, "BULLSHIT!" It shocked him so much, along with a few other people in the group, that he actually stopped talking!

I flat told him he was insane. Then listed all the reasons it wasn't possible to actually do that - first among them being that as an Amendment to the Constitution, it would take Congress, two thirds of the states and the signature of a President to alter that.

Then I hit him with the fact that Obama only wants what over 80% of the population wants and that is sensible laws controlling firearms. You know, like banning people on the watch list from buying guns? Or requiring background checks at gun shows and stuff like that. He started to raise hell about what I didn't know and all the RWNJ rumors and shit like that. He was cut off by the rest of the guys (and two women) saying things like, "Yeah, I can go for that" and "It's about damned time SOMEBODY started cramming their lies down the NRA's throats."

The final blow, I think, came when as he was walking away mumbling about how some people didn't see what the President was and so on, someone blurted out, "Yeah, and you're a racist, too!"

THAT stunned me, since it came from someone who wasn't a fan of POTUS, but at least wasn't a hate-mongerer.

I'm one with some of those in my family, yeah it's gonna get ugly, like Reagen in "The Exorcist" when she morphs into a heavier version of Sarah Palin, and her head turns like an owl as she spews pea soup and her flesh gets ripped apart from holy water being doused on her.
Just bring a barf bag and pass on the guacamole and you'll be fine.

    GO POTUS!!!

  13. The first loophole they need to close is the gun shows and ALL internet/mail order purchases. Guns should never be allowed to be shipped through any delivery means ever.

You have to show up in person at a licensed gun shop.

The next loophole that needs to be closed is person to person, private transfer, either through sale or gift.

This brings us back to cars (mentioned in that Facebook rant).

I can't buy a car over the internet.

If I sell my car, I have to fill out papers with the DMV to transfer title and it has to be within a certain time period.

The buyer also has to fill out papers or he doesn't legally own the car and can't get a registration to legally drive it.

Cars aren't even built to kill people.

So why shouldn't guns have at least as much regulation as cars? They should, by rights, have MORE regulation.

And the second amendment says well regulated. Right now they are piss poor regulated.
