"13 hours," which is essentially a Benghazi themed hit job against Hillary, stumbles badly at the box office.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Michael Bay’s action movie about the Benghazi, Libya, terror attacks stumbled at the box office this weekend, opening at No. 4 in American theaters.

“13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” opened with an estimated $19.6 million domestically, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“American Sniper,” which opened the same weekend a year prior, pulled in a stunning $107.2 million, while “Lone Survivor” opened to $37 million in early January 2014.

Bay's last opening as a director — for "Transformers: Age of Extinction" — brought in more than $100 million.

“13 hours” was politicized by Republicans who slammed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for the lapses in security at the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi.

Ouch!

According to Gawker explains exactly what is wrong with the movie's storytelling:

Much of what has likely inhibited the film’s performance is disagreement not only over the interpretation of the facts on which it is purportedly based but also those facts themselves. The CIA’s Benghazi station chief—now retired, but identified only by his first name, “Bob,” because his cover hasn’t been lifted yet—rejected the film’s portrayal of his actions. “I thought I would regret it if I didn’t,” Bob told the Washington Post. “So much of this information has been wrong.”

An agency spokesman, Ryan Trapani, went even further. “No one will mistake this movie for a documentary,” he told the Post. “It’s a distortion of the events and people who served in Benghazi that night. It’s shameful that, in order to highlight the heroism of some, those responsible for the movie felt the need to denigrate the courage of other Americans who served in harm’s way.”

Variety reports that much of that 19 million in box office revenue came from, you guessed it, red states:

The action thriller did well in red states, generating 41% of the $19 million it stands to make this weekend from theaters in the South. Those areas out-performed blue states by 25%. Most other releases this weekend made up 33% of their grosses in these regions.

Gee, THERE'S a surprise.

Of course the makers of this movie vehemently deny they were making a politically ideological film, but seriously who are they kidding?

This was no "Black Hawk Down," and the only people who think this is a story worthy of having a movie made about it, are those on the Right Wing who think it will damage or destroy Hillary Clinton's campaign to be President.

So once again let me remind you of just how incredibly aggressive the conservatives have been in their efforts to discredit and stop Hillary.

You simply do NOT go to all this effort, and spend all of this money, unless you are TERRIFIED of a political rival.

Anybody disagree with that?

Today show just had Trump saying Sarah Palin could have a position in hid administration if she wants it and that she was not paid to endorse him.
Leaves room for her to say " no thanks because : family"
And its suspected she was paid.

Two words: Star Wars. Star Wars is still playing and people would rather see a really well-made science fiction film.

    Michael Bay? I'm disappointed.

It had to stumble, too many people involved in the incident have said it's wrong.

I never read any of the Da Vinci Code books because by the time I'd have had time, people were complaining to a priest in Paris that his church was nothing like how it was in the book.

meh, I'd rather watch a documentary any day.

'Entertainment' is one of the 7 mountains of Dominionism. Politics another. Beware their false prophets.

  8. John Krasinski from 13 Hours was on Bill Maher last week and kept talking about the mythical stand down order (and its role in the movie) as if it were fact and not thoroughly debunked. Of course no one called him on it.

    So disappointing.

That is disappointing. I had no idea he was a right-winger! Ugh! Guess I'll boycott his films & his wife's, too.

I don't believe he is. He was a HUGE supporter for Elizabeth Warren and his wife is Emily Blunt - who conservatives now hate. He's left. No need for boycott's. That's what the dark side likes to do.

Terrified of a political rival, G?

    I totally agree.

I find it hilarious that they would spend all that money and time to make a really bad tough-guy movie, because they're terrified of Charlotte's Grandma!!!

That is some weak-ass political strategy. Idiots. Dog willing, they will never learn.

Inspector General: Clinton emails had intel from most secretive, classified programs

Intelligence from a "special access program,” or SAP, is even more sensitive than that designated as "top secret" – as were two emails identified last summer in a random sample pulled from Clinton's private server she used as secretary of state. Access to a SAP is restricted to those with a "need-to-know" because exposure of the intelligence would likely reveal the source, putting a method of intelligence collection -- or a human asset -- at risk. Currently, some 1,340 emails designated “classified” have been found on Clinton’s server, though the Democratic presidential candidate insists the information was not classified at the time.

“There is absolutely no way that one could not recognize SAP material,” a former senior law enforcement with decades of experience investigating violations of SAP procedures told Fox News. “It is the most sensitive of the sensitive.”

So there are 2 emails that were SAP? What percentage is that: .05% of her e-mail?

      Good question!

The declarations cover "several dozen emails containing classified information determined by the IC element to be at the CONFIDENTIAL, SECRET and TOP SECRET/SAP information."

An intelligence official familiar with the matter told NBC News that the special access program in question was so sensitive that McCullough and some of his aides had to receive clearance to be read in on it before viewing the sworn declaration about the Clinton emails.

This is just the tip of the iceberg, wait until her using her position as SS to do favors for those donating to clinton foundation comes out!

I suppose Roman Polanski was too occupied to take part in the fart fest. I'm surprised they even tried a movie like this in theaters. Sounds worthy of a direct to dvd deal under fiction.
