Mike Huckabee is pissy because the evangelicals are not backing him. Accuses them of not wanting to end abortion because it financially benefits their organizations.

Courtesy of Right Wing Watch:

Huckabee recently spoke with Fox News pundit Todd Starnes about his feelings toward the leaders of the Religious Right establishment who, he feels, abandoned him and he did not hold back as he accused them of not actually wanting to see an end to abortion or gay marriage because they raise too much money campaigning on those issues.

"As I've often said, 'I don't go to them, I come from them,' but because of that I do understand them. And a lot of them, quite frankly, I think they're scared to death that if a guy like me got elected, I would actually do what I said I would do, and that is I would focus on the personhood of every individual, we would abolish abortion based on the Fifth and 14th Amendment, we would ignore the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage decision. And you know what the result would be?

A lot of these organizations wouldn't have the ability to do urgent fundraising because if we slay the dragon, what dragon do they continue to fight? And so, for many of them, it could be a real detriment to their organization's abilities to gin up their supporters and raise the contributions, and I know that sounds cynical but, Todd, it is what it is."

You know Huckabee is really talking out of anger and disappointment here, but he's not wrong.

There are indeed a number of these anti-abortion groups who would have no reason to exist once abortion was made illegal.

However they also realize, as does Huckabee, that it is very unlikely that abortion is EVER going to be made completely illegal again, even IF he were elected.

Personally I never tire of watching these conservative idiots beating each other up.

I actually agree with Huckabee in this instance. There's a LOT of money being made on these issues. Without these issues, they might have to actually come up with a coherent policy to govern rather than grandstand.

Just like Palin. The "god" in their head told them they were all that and a ham sandwich.

    "Let Allah sort it out."

Huckster-bee is the same guy that said that all US citizens should be made to watch "instructional" videos by pseudo-historian David Barton.

Barton is a discredited Christian Dominionist fanatic, who insists that the USA was founded only by Christians, and that we should be ruled by the bible.

This article warms my heart. Fuckabee is correct, they need abortion to stay legal to keep getting money from fools. But it's obvious that he isn't upset that the "pre-born kids" will suffer, he is just pissed that the cash isn't flowing down to him. Oh, how I love to see the Huckster's scam fail.

Put every last one of 'em on The 700 Club and leave the good of this country and its citizenry to the intelligent who TRULY understand the Constitution.

Let's face it. It's not just the Religious Right, but also right-wing talk radio, Breitbart, World Net Daily, Sarah Palin, and Fox News who have a vested stake in never actually realizing the fantasies they rant about every day

If the tea party ever took over both houses of Congress and won the White House, and finally got that conservative wet-dream they say they always wanted, their entire reason for existence would cease. The cash teat would dry up and fall off, and they'd be left with nothing.

I honestly think they spew this shit 24-7 (and that goes for Huckabee as well) both to fire up the right-wing rage machine, and simultaneously with the full knowledge that what they're spewing sounds so completely off-the-wall to the sane majority of this country that it will never, ever happen, thus keeping the cash flowing into their soulless pockets forever.

7:49--I've come to think that's why Congress keeps trying to overturn the Affordable Care Act and defund Planned Parenthood.

The GOP in fact knows perfectly well they have no chance of success. The constant defeat is what they're counting on to keep their base frustrated and enraged.

Duh, Mike. I've been saying this since Reagan cozied up to Jerry Fallwell. How will you inspire the mindless Sunday morning masses to vote for you when you don't have abortion to cry about anymore?

There will always be legal and safe abortions for women with the money to pay for them in the USA.

Huckabee, like most Republicans, is always "pissy" about something. For a group of people who claim to know God better than anyone, they are are angry, sad, depressing to be around, and have zero hope for the future. No wonder people are leaving their churches in droves..not much fun to be a Christian in America, is it? Doom and gloom, and wait for the Rapture! Or sleep in on Sunday, spend time with your kids and parents, and relax before the work week begins again.

Poor Mikey's right, must suck to be him, with women having abortions and gay people marrying there's just no room in his heart for love of humanity. Kind of sad way to go through life, if you ask me. Poor Mikey's own people kicked him to the curb.....for Trump LMAO
