Police warn that there will be armed protesters at President Obama's town hall focusing on gun control. Yeah, I don't like this at all.

Courtesy of The Hill:

Students at George Mason University (GMU) have been notified that armed protesters may show up on campus ahead of President Obama’s town hall on gun control Thursday evening.

In an email sent to the student body, university police Chief Thomas Longo said authorities were expecting protests ahead of the event.

“Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, we will likely see protesters on campus — some of whom may be carrying weapons,” Longo said in the email obtained by The Washington Free Beacon.

He reminded students that it is lawful to openly carry firearms in outdoor spaces on campus.

“Please be advised that it is lawful to carry firearms in Virginia, and this includes at public outdoor spaces on our campus,” he said.

“University police are aware of this and will have officers present to ensure that all protesters remain law-abiding and maintain the safety and well-being of Mason’s faculty, students and staff,” he continued.

Of course there will be no firearms allowed inside the building where the town hall is being held, and there will obviously be metal detectors and Secret Service there to protect the President, but this still still makes me incredibly nervous.

Let's face it these gun nuts are all kinds of unhinged, their rhetoric is almost unintelligible at this point, and it only takes one mistake for some 2nd Amendment nutjob to get inside and do something horrific to the man working night and day to keep us all safe.

Personally I would like to see a gun free zone around the President that extended for about a mile. And anyone caught with a gun would have their shiny metal penis extender taken away permanently and then would be locked up until the President was safely back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

So far the town hall is going well. None of the NRA sympathizers have been able to say anything against the new background checks. They just express fear.

Most of them are not fit to shine his shoes, yet people keep electing them to do more damage. This country is going to hell in a handbasket, mainly because of racism, which is at the base of all this hatred of our President. President Obama Drops A Fact Bomb And Obliterates The NRA At CNN Gun Town Hall

During the nationally televised town hall on gun violence on CNN, President Obama called out the NRA for not showing up and revealed that the Obama White House has repeatedly invited the NRA to the White House, but they have declined to show up.

    The President said:

By the way, there’s a reason that the NRA is not here. They’re just down the street, and since this is the main reason that they exist you’d think that they’d be prepared to have a debate with the President.

(Cooper: They haven’t been to the White House in years.)
    …..

We’ve invited them. We have invited them repeatedly, but if you listen to the rhetoric, it is so over the top and so heated. And most importantly is not acknowledging the fact that there’s no other consumer item that we purchase…There’s nothing else in our lives that we purchase that we don’t try to make a little safer if we can.

The NRA Might Not Hold As Much Sway Over Elections As You Think

A new study casts doubt on the group's strength in influencing which candidate voters back.

The National Rifle Association, often described as one of the groups most feared by lawmakers and often cited as a prominent obstacle standing in the way of gun control, may not be as powerful at influencing elections as it claims.

A new analysis, conducted by Douglas E. Schoen, LLC, found that the vast majority of candidates in races where the NRA spent over $100,000 were unsuccessful in 2012. The analysis also found that while more than half of the candidates the NRA supported in 2012 were successful, over 92 percent of the money the group spent went towards unsuccessful races.

Sarah Palin's BFF, Taya Kyle, appeared on the CNN town hall with President Obama and proceeded to express her opinion that every American should be issued a firearm at birth.

Whothefuck is Taya Kyle? No one in particular. She was married to Chris Kyle, the SEAL sniper whose story was made into a movie by Clint Eastwood. Kyle allegedly is "the most deadly sniper" in US military history with over 200 claimed kills.

He was shot to death at a gun range in Texas by a deranged former Marine who he was trying to help. Kyle's rehab routine was to take former servicemen who were suffering from depression and PTSD TO GUN RANGES WHERE THEY COULD SHOOT UP TARGETS. Smart. Really, really smart.

Well, anyway, Taya Kyle has ridden her husband's story to notoriety among a small clique of loons, Sarah Palin being one. Remember a few months ago Sarah was gushing on her Facebook page about meeting Taya Kyle, leading most observers to say "Who?"

I retired from the Army with 28 years in uniform. I'm a Vietnam vet who spent two tours in the bush in a gunfight almost every day. I have no idea how many people I killed or helped kill. I have a lot of friends who are combat vets from Vietnam. When we get together, we don't talk about kills and body counts. We talk about our friends who didn't survive, hoist a glass to their memories, write checks to a scholarship fund for their grandchildren, then we show photos of our grandchildren and complain about our enlarged prostates. I just don't understand this simple-minded, bizarre fixation on kills and guns.

Sorry, didn't mean to drag Sarah Palin into this.

I'm calling bullshit on this. If every Panthers game can be declared an "Extraordinary Event" that you can't even bring an umbrella or a purse to, so can this be. If Trump has the right to kick anyone he wants out of an arena because he sets the terms of use, so can the White House in this situation.

Declare it "An extraordinary Event", like they do for BLOCKS around Panthers stadium, where it's normally not only legal to open carry on the streets, it's legal to open carry in bars and any business. Or are you suggesting that a football team and their fans are more important than the President and citizens who want to hear what he has to say?

FWIW, what about the good old George W Bush days when if you wanted to protest something he had to say you had to go to a special fenced in pen two miles away? G'day mate, I don't wanna offend anyone here but what's the deal with the gun thing in America? I'm from Australia mate so don't get me wrong, our country's are real close allies and I have nothing but respect for you as a nation, and I agree with all your posts otherwise I wouldn't follow you. But we had 1 mass shooting in Australia 20 years ago and changed the gun laws immediately... not a single mass shooting since... in 20 years. People still have guns, but functional guns, for example no one has stopped farmers from having a gun that suits his purpose, same as hunters or sport shooters. We just don't allow nutbags to roll into the shops and buy semi automatic anti personnel weapons like in America. It would frighten me to send my kids to school not knowing if they're going to make it home bro. Am I missing something?

He ends by shoving a paper at Milo saying, "It's all written down right here", to which Milo responds, "Verbatim". It was funny at the time because most gunzloonz weren't that unhinged. Sadly, the gunzloonz rhetoric today is every bit as incoherent and illogical as the satire of it was back then.

The NRA stands only for a few things now, and among them is that EVERYONE, including convicted felons, illegal immigrants, and the insane should all have the ability to own any firearm of their choice.

THey also apparently believe there should be no restrictions at all, so the average Jane six-pack can buy a rocket launcher, a WWII bazooka, or a case of grenades without even a driver's license.

President Obama is a brave man, because he knows there are thousands of ignorant idiots indoctrinated by Limbaugh, the NRA, and lunatics like Palin who want to kill him.

I disagree with your final clause. I think we WILL reform our gun laws. it's happening. Subscribe to THE TRACE. The NRA is running scared and Bloomberg is funding the Anti-NRA movement. I do agree that the President is magnificent.

There were no obvious guns at the town meeting. I watched the entire thing. You can be sure that since the POTUS was appearing, there were thorough checks done of ALL entering the premises.

I seriously doubt anyone came in hiding a gun or it would have been taken from them!
