Russia now lists the United States as a risk to its national security.

Just a not so subtle message to the United States from Vlad.
Courtesy of Yahoo News:

A new appraisal names the United States as one of the threats to Russia's national security for the first time, a sign of how relations with the west have deteriorated in recent years.

The document, "About the Strategy of National Security of Russian Federation", was signed by President Vladimir Putin on New Year's Eve. It replaces a 2009 version, endorsed by then- President Dmitry Medvedev, the current prime minister, which mentioned neither the United States not NATO.

You know if this were the 1980's the Republicans would see this is a badge of honor.

Of course now they see Vladimir Putin as some great leader and President Obama as a wimp. Clearly Putin does not share that sentiment, since wimps are rarely listed as national security threats.

It should also be pointed out that we ALSO list Russia as a threat to our national security, so I guess we're even.

Besides who wants to be friends with a guy who invaded the Ukraine while actively denying he was doing so and who kills journalists like some people swat flies to see us as non-threatening?

Having said that the idea that both countries list each other as national security threats makes those of us who remember the cold war more than a little uncomfortable.

    1. We're not seen as a direct threat--yet. It's fallout (you should forgive the expression) from misguided American actions which terribly damage Russian (not to mention our own) national interests--security foremost among them.

      Uh, you worded that wrong.

      Much better now. You're welcome.

In the meantime, Palin’s “SarahPac” just keeps motoring along — asking for mo money mo money mo money, according to my email the last three days of 2015:

Sarah Palin is keeping alive rumors she may run for the U.S. Senate from Alaska.

Former Governor Sarah Palin, yes we really are talking about her, keeps raising questions about whether she plans on running against U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski. First she said it was a possibility in a radio interview, then she put her Arizona home on the market, now we’re hearing murmurs from Washington D.C. that she is seriously considering the possibility.

Our favorite story of the “will she run?” rumor mill that is starting to get traction is how Palin has a favorite new yoga spot in Anchorage. That yoga studio must be popular among politicos because I hear nothing but talk of her and her apparently newly “enhanced” physique. According to those who overheard the conversations, when fellow yoga practitioners told Sarah how much they miss her and ask whether or not she’d run against Lisa, she tells them “I’m thinking about it.” Well, there you go, all the confirmation you need.

Is Palin really gearing up, exploring, or some other political verb for ”maybe” with regard to Murkowski’s seat or is she just stirring the waters for another round of attention? Its Alaska, so you never know.

Putin isn't giving us the finger, he's smelling it. He just had it in his butt checking to see if he forgot to wipe again.

And, who wants to be a friend with a jerk that is so publically giving the finger in that photo!

President Obama is treating him correctly!

Feel for Americans living on the west coast of the USA - too damned close to Russia and their missiles! (Putin has been noted bragging about the number they have - to include their arsenal of nuclear ones!)

I'm more uncomfortable with Putin. He's the one acting like Khrushchev.

How many comments on right-wing sites have I read comparing Putin to President Obama, where they lifted up tough-man Putin to peace-loving wimpy Obama (their words).

They love war and especially when they can swagger with bloated heads filled with gun-warfare fantasies of them winning and everyone else losing.

Have wondered what the Russian government and leaders think when they read the gullible comments of the rogue cowboy redneck crowd? They must be laughing themselves silly.

Looks like your promoting the US Neocon line about the take over of the Ukraine. Perhaps if you went a little deeper in your searching this matter out you might find we are the problem not the russians when it comes to the Ukraine.

Why are you still referring to the area as "the Ukraine"? It's been "Ukraine" since 1991.

  19. The United States isn't a threat to Russia (except for our refusal to accept climate change and work to mitigate it.)

The United States is a threat to the United States. We are so busy destroying ourselves from within we don't have time to bother with the likes of Russia. If we did, they wouldn't be occupying Ukraine.
