Texas to allow open carry in mental hospitals. You know because nothing can go wrong there.

Courtesy of USA Today:

As of New Years Day, licensed gun owners in Texas have been allowed to openly carry firearms into restaurants, shops and zoos.

Add a new place to the gun-friendly list: state mental health hospitals.

Visitors to one of Texas' 10 state mental health hospitals will be allowed to openly carry weapons into the facilities, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. Employees and patients will still be barred from bringing in weapons. The hospitals this week pulled down signs banning guns at its facilities and posted new ones asking people to leave their firearms in their cars or conceal them from patients, said Carrie Williams, a state health department spokeswoman.

“While licensed visitors are legally permitted to carry on our hospital campuses, our patients are being actively treated for psychiatric conditions and generally it’s best not to expose them to weapons of any kind.,” Williams said in statement.

Gee, ya think?

So let's get this straight.

The Right Wing has been actively blaming mental health issues as the reason behind all of this gun violence, in order to deflect criticism from the NRA and the gun nuts.

So Texas decides that they should be able to carry their little metal penis extenders in the same place where many of the people they have identified as potential mass shooters are being treated.

Is there something wrong with the water in Texas?

And guess who cut off mental health funding and closed down facilities? That's right, their SAINT Ronald Reagan.

Here's to hoping we can soon make an example of Texas against guns.

Wow. Quite a statement there. Hoping for something bad to happen, to support your arguement.

And if no example happens, then Texas wins the arguement?

Maybe per your arguement, you have already lost. Take a look at the gun violence in long time democrat cities with strict gun control... Chicago, DC, Baltimore...... how is that gun control working?

      Oh so sorry you lose.

But fuck you for wishing harm on your fellow citizens just to prove a point dickwad.

Let's have a discussion about gun control, @7:52. Glad to see you're open to it, take a look at UK gun violence stars. You're welcome. http://www.bradycampaign.org/key-gun--violence-statistics or smartgunlaws.org
Also, why can't we have "smart guns" in The US? That would solve A LOT of issues. It is the wave of the future & we should embrace it now. Gun owners keep their guns but they cannot be used except by the owner. They can't be used if stolen. No infant could accidentally fire it.

And it's "argument", not "arguement", which obviously was not just a typo on your part, since you used the word three times.

I love it when half-literate people get on their little soapboxes.

As a born Texan who escaped asap, I agree. It's becoming a vile gathering ground of ignorants. A few other states are up there too, but really, it's Texas in the winner's circle. Y'all know everything is done bigger in Texas, right? Even the crazy.

Greg Abbot, George W Bush, Rick Perry, Ted Cruz, Blake Farenthold, Louie Gohmert, Ron Paul, Tom DeLay, Steve Stockman, my ex-brother-in-law...

(Okay, that last one is personal, but you get the point)

If Texans want to choose ignorant, incompetent, bigoted people to run their state, they certainly have the right to do so. Unfortunately, those poor choices affect all of us who have to overcome and repair the damage their stupidity causes.

Gryphen does not hate Texas, just the thousands of mentally challenged people who live there. So many of them run for office, also too!! I think they should secede from the country, let them go. They cost the blue states too much, anyway.

Texas is one big mental hospital. If you are not an inmate you are a staffer.

It isn't just Texas. I'm in a band led by a young Army reservist who thinks it will be awesome to have a patriotic concert this year, and invite all servicemen and their families for free. He said he wants to show that there is a price to pay, and that men coming back with PTSD need help. That's all fine, except he also wants to bring in war re-enactors and have pyrotechnics. Somehow I don't think this is a swell idea to have an audience of traumatized vets and pretend our auditorium is a war zone. I think our facility is gun-free, but it's Michigan, so who knows what Snyder has approved lately.

"Is there something wrong with the water in Texas?"

No, not at all; it's all in their minds. Their brain cells are deteriorating fast, and at an accelerated rate of dwindle. The former governor and the current one are excellent examples of that, with the latter seemingly having finally gone over the edge of rationality.

Just wait, Balzafiar, it will get worse. When Cruz finds out he CAN'T run for President, he'll go run for Governor of Texas and the idiots who put him in the Senate will elect him. Then the S**ts gonna really hit the fan. Nothing will get done because he will be reading ALL the Dr. Seuss books into the official records. Over and over and over and....

No, it is that our governor and the Texas legislature are mental midgets and pander to the idiotic right wing, gun carrying weirdoes that populate parts of our state. Greg Abbott is a million times more dangerous than Perry was. I despisse him.

I've been to Texas on business and most of the folks I met there seemed perfectly normal and downright polite. I wouldn't paint anyplace with too broad a brush, there's good and bad everywhere, it's just that the crazies and bad suck up all the news oxygen.
Where do they find people like Abbott in the first place?
