The Sarah Palin endorsed new Governor of Kentucky promises to do away with Obamacare. Problem is his constituents don't want that and the law won't let him do it.

Courtesy of the Daily News Bin:

The new republican governor of Kentucky was elected by tea party voters on the promise that he would kill off the Affordable Care Act in his state to whatever extent he legally could. But now that he’s won, reality has set in that large scores of Kentucky residents have only gained access to health care thanks to ObamaCare, meaning he would face an uprising among his state’s mainstream residents if he went through with his promise. Not surprisingly, the new governor has immediately caved and decided to keep ObamaCare after all, resorting to superficial changes so he can partially save face. And he may not even get away with that last part.

The problem is, as former Kentucky Governor Steve Bashear points out, is that Kentuckians kind of like Obamacare:

“All of Kentucky looks forward to the day when our new governor transitions from strident partisan rhetoric and petty name-calling to the real and more difficult business of governing,” he wrote. “Mottos that make good bumper stickers rarely make good public policy. Medicaid expansion was and remains a smart policy move.”

And it remains popular in the state. A poll released this month from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that 72 percent of Kentuckians do not want to change the state’s Medicaid program.

So in response to that Bevin has decided that rather than do away with Obamacare he is going to "transform" it.

Problem with that is that he is not allowed to "transform" anything.

Courtesy of Forbes:

On Wednesday, Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin announced that he was planning to keep Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion, but would seek federal waivers to “transform” the program. But Bevin’s plan is already hitting an a snag: he wants to use a Section 1332 waiver to “transform Medicaid.” The snag: Section 1332 doesn’t provide any authority for Medicaid reform.

Oops!

Sadly for Bevin's supporters that promise was one of the main reasons that he received the backing from the Tea Party and of course Sarah Palin.

And now he really can't do shit.

I guess that's what happens when you live inside the conservative bubble where facts and critical thinking are simply not allowed.

You know for a law that 'nobody read' this one appears to have been pretty well-written.
I realize that there are things the GOP snuck in there, or dragged out of it, that will make it better when we have a Congress that gives a crap about making the program work even better, but for now, it's doing OK.

    2. I will never understand people who vote against their own self interest. If Obamacare is so popular how did this douchebag win? As an eternal optimist I usually give people the benefit of the doubt but I'm just deluding myself cause there are some very stupid people in this country. And unfortunately, they vote!

Yeah, I remember hearing that someone said there were serious discrepancies, but good luck to them getting to bottom of it with the foxes controlling the hen house.

The Republicans tried using their voting machines in this election to see if anyone noticed and balked about the discrepancies (why did the Dems down ticket receive more votes than the top of the ticket?) so they know they can use these same tactics in the big election in the fall of 2016. Be on the look out for these same shady results in the fall. Karl Rove is busy working on a way to steal the next election; he will not be denied as he was in 2012.

My only Kentuckian friend is a lifelong Democrat (virtually the only one she knows). Every time I find it hard to not mention the new governor and how stupid Kentuckians are I quickly think how hard it must be to be her, and how hard it must be to have your whole life governed by dangerous morons.

I can't wait to see what happens in 2016 with Beth Clarkson, the Wichita State University statistician who is suing the state of Kansas for their paper election records.

She (and others) found evidence of statistical impossibilities in the Republican elections in several states. They all seem to be states where the republican candidate is a wealthy businessman who never held elected office before, but won anyhow in a close race.
Like this guy from Kentucky. In fact, KY is named as one of the suspicious states.

If you haven't followed Dr. Clarkson's case yet, I think you will find it very interesting. There is trouble ahead for many republicans if she is right.

I really would like to see all elections done using hand counted paper ballots. The TV networks love making the first prediction of the winners but I don't trust the lack of a paper trail with many of the voting machines. I'd rather wait 2-3 days to find out who really won.

This season .I’ll enjoy a lot more music, a lot less plugged-in tech time. Passing on that online time that enables broken people to try to break others is a way to live life vibrantly without inviting their hate to cloud my home. More music, less blue light, less white noise = refreshing." After all, posting on the internet pays nothing.

But when you write that Alicia "stalks us all" on FB, does that mean she knows who you are? Personally I'm not that good with computers..

In fact, I recently set up a blog that is named so it shows up in searches for our local Tea Party. On that blog, I am firing heavy artillery at my local Tea Party, including naming names of the dingbats who make up their membership. Already it's having an effect -- they are complaining on their Facebook page about my blog and the impact it's having on them. Seems that even their own members are questioning their leadership based on revelations on my blog!!!

Given the level of poverty and low-incomes in KY, I would have thought that ObamaCare would have been a great gift to a large number of KY residents.

I guess my thought was fairly accurate. Once people got the health care for free or very inexpensively they would not want to go back to being without.

A perfect example of "voting against your interests". If, of course, the voting results are legit. If 72% of the people want their health care left alone, why would they vote for the guy who said he was going to take it away? Either they didn't vote, they didn't do a bit of research on the guy they voted for, or somebody is cheating. Or all of the above.

Poor snaggle-toothed $elfish $arah can't take a hint or buy a clue. Her problem is that she takes the Nation's pulse by jamming a finger up her own nasty butt. Then when her ideas turn out to be crap she gets all puzzled and pissy.

  12. How pathetic that so many fools fall for the idiotic promises to make abortion illegal; to ban Mexicans from America; to repeal Obamacare; to force uppity darkies and mouthy women to know their place, like in the good old days; to ban Sharia Law; to prevent gays from marrying---and all the other ridiculous campaign rhetoric that Republicans spew on voters.

I thought that when such malarkey didn't happen after the 2010 ushering in of the criminally insane Tea Partiers, people would get wise.

Instead, they say they HATE congress and the government in general...but still vote Republican, anyway.

Is it a "Well, maybe THIS time" type of delusion?

The real problem is that many Democrats are not showing up to vote for each and every election. We have the tea party because the Democrats did not show up for the 2010 election. The R's did very well in the House and the Senate in 2014 because the Democrats did not show up.

The turnout in Kentucky this past November was pitiful. Bevin won in a walk because the Democrats did not show up.

On the hopeful side, it seems that a lot of folks going to these Trump rallies are not regular voters. Let's hope those folks don't show up in Iowa, New Hampshire or South Carolina.

My 2 cents, which is worth exactly that. Two copper pennies.

    1) I think she means computer or other electronic screen when she says "blue light." It rings a bell as to what it used to be called ages ago.

Or she could mean she'll be hitting the Blue Light Specials at WalMart, K-Mart etc. now that PAC funds are drying up.

    2) I think she's trying to give us a shout out and a warning--IM regulars, those that check in regularly, and those who come straight here when "Something Sarah" happens in the news.

It seems that she is trying to say we don't matter and what is said on this "defunct blog" doesn't matter either. Won't get under her skin.

Not the first untruth Sarah's told.

You know what they say, most people break their New Year's resolutions within the first week.
