Yep, it's time for yet another debate. This time it is the Democrats facing off in South Carolina.

Well as much as I am feeling all debated out now, I have to say that I am quite a bit more interested in this one than in the Republican debate.

After all one of THESE people will actually be our next President.

Not only that but I think that things are going to start heating up between Hillary and Bernie since they are now almost neck and neck in the first two primaries in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Though nationally Hillary still leads by a large margin.

I would expect tonight's debate to include mentions of Iran, Obamacare, and Wall Street. I will assume that Bill's past infidelities and the much talked about by the Right Wing FBI investigation into Hillary's e-mails will not be touched upon.

As always I will be tweeting about the debate as it goes along, and you can follow me here.

Slow Palin day, huh Gryphen? If youre hesitant to comment on Bristol's latest IG post because there are black people in it, take comfort in the fact that it looks like Piper is drinking beer.

Piper is drinking a Henry Reinhard's Root Beer, the bottle looks like a beer bottle. They sell them at all the restaurants and bars up here and around Pac Northwest.

That being said, I think that Marina has a black boyfriend and has a lot of black friends and this was her birthday some I'm pretty sure she'd have invited her friends, be they black, white, brown, yellow, red or whatever.

So Bristol is breastfeeding (right) and drinking. Nice. Who's watching her kids? Or is Tripp now old enough to be babysitting, putting himself to bed, and able to stay out of trouble while Mommy parties? OR, are the kids in the limo outside?

Having a birthday dinner with friends is hardly "partying", 5:20pm. There are a lot better things to criticize Bristol over, try one of them.

Judging from the time stamp on the Instagram pic, it was posted around 8 - 9 PM, Saturday, 16 January.

Sailor is either 2-1/2 months old, or a little over 3 weeks old. Doesn't EVERYONE drag their newborn infant around to bars? Who knows -- they may have been in the Hummer limo looking for a brawl.

Suite 100 is a decent restaurant in Anchorage. It's a little more towards the Dimond area than I would like to be but it has decent food and really great prices, that's the best part, the low, low prices for some rather imaginative food. You can eat there for about 20 less per person with drinks and food than at Ginger or Kincaid Grill, so it's a nice affordable place to take a group if you are footing the bill. Bad part of town, but good cheap food.

Sorry to be O/T, but I have some questions for MALOE: in the Thanksgiving day photo on B's instagram site linked to yesterday, there was a baby on the floor at Sarah's feet in a carrier. "It" had the same type of pacifier in the mouth than the baby that Willow was holding in another IG photo with her eyes open. The pacifiers sure look the same (in other photos as well.) If they are the same one then that is more evidence that B delivered b4 Thanksgiving. There is another newborn being held on the left side of the photo. Also, is Tristan in that picture? Who is the little girl in the middle of two boys laying face down on a wooden platform on the same IG site?

      Just curious.

I was a Young Republican in High School and in College, back East, prior to moving to AK. Suffice it to say, none of my "old school" republican family can find parity within the party as it exists today. Most of us are now Independents, within our various states, and generally we vote for the Democratic candidate for most offices.

There are still some holdouts within the older member of our extended family; they love themselves some Rush and they believe, in their 80 year old minds, that Donald Trump is going to save the world and put things back "right" again (like when my Grandma had black help that she paid in only food and clothes....). That ain't gonna happen and these people are going to see their idea of "America" pass them by, if they don't just die first.

Also I agree with the other commenter, I do not want to pay more in taxes, since I am about to retire, to send other families children to college.

I have looked over his health plan and no way is it going to get through Congress. As long as the republicans are in control they will not vote to raise taxes on employers or the rich.

Also would like to know what single payer would be taxes since they give figures based on a family of four. From my experience, singles end up paying more in proportion.

If my taxes went up 9% it would cover my healthcare and then I wouldn't have the additional $450/month for ACA (with a huge deductible) and I'd just about come out even between losing the health insurance payment and adding to may tax bill. It's how it works in other countries that have universal coverage, in Scandinavian Countries and in Canada taxes are nearly 30% for the average person and it covers healthcare. I have no problem with this.

You should be able to roll your pension into whatever IRA or 401K that you choose. You simply tell your plan administrator that you want to move your money. Move it somewhere safe if you are afraid that your government organization is not wisely investing your money.

The Election Carnival Has Just Begun

...This could well be the first election since 2000 with an independent candidate. That has happened only four times in the past century, the others being 1912, 1948 and 2000.

And a three-way -- or even a four-way race --would be a wild card. It could take any of several forms, with different partisan winners and losers. Consider:

Suppose Donald Trump is the Republican nominee and Hillary Clinton is the Democrat. Establishment Republicans will be convinced that their party has been hijacked by a bizarre rabble-rouser; GOP elites will be unsure which is worse -- the prospect of Trump losing, or Trump winning.

Result: pressure builds for a "real" Republican to run as an independent -- a conservative but not a rightwing populist. That could be, say, Paul Ryan, or John Kasich, or Mitt Romney again.

    Advantage: Democrats.

Off Topic, but I heard an Ad for the show Mamma Mia that played this last weekend in Anchorage at the Performing Arts Center. It is a story about a girl on the eve of her wedding and her mother's secret, there being three possible fathers, etc etc. I wonder if poor Sailor Grace will relate to this show in 20 years. Poor baby...

Hillary voters would vote for Sanders if he get nominated.

But Sanders supporters see Hillary as owned by wall street corporations and a lot would vote Green Party rather than for Hillary!

Then they are pretty stupid. They may as well not vote. Their vote won't mean anything.

Here in Alaska our Electoral votes ALWAYS go for the Republican candidate so I don't even bother to vote of the POTUS. National Congressional and State and local elections always get my attention and my vote, but POTUS is decided by others than me.

No matter what Hillary touts, they are owned by Wall Street, and there's that pesky Marc Rich pardoning by hubby.

Look it up, every last one of these people are snakes in the grass, I don't care whose side you're on.

      Go Bernie!

Ardent Bernie supporter here. BUT: if Hillary gets the nomination, I will vote for her in November.
I will NOT vote for ANY of the ReThugs, but I also will not NOT vote, because that would by default be a vote for a clown car passenger. And NONE of those is Presidential material.

You should still vote for POTUS. Every vote makes a statement and you're already in the booth.

I've heard young sanders supporters say they'll write in Bernie if he's not the nominee. Very dangerous game, but they're too young to remember Ralph Nader.

What kind of loser schedules a debate on a Sunday night? I bet they had the lowest number of viewers yet. Asinine.

I didn't even know about it until I saw it posted here. Granted, I've been away for a few days and not watching TV or doing much internet, but REALLY a debate on a Sunday night before a holiday? MLK day is pretty big here in AK at least for taking an extra day at Alyeska or just going out for a ski and camp and only having phone or tab no TV. Not sure who would be watching this. I'm assuming most people even in Lower 48 are traveling or taking advantage of holiday Monday and not home sunday night on tv.

"What kind of loser schedules a debate on a Sunday night?"

That would be Debbie Wasserman Schultz, DNC Chair. Clearly she's not the brightest bulb.

Gryphen, I am aware that you are pro Hillary because she is a woman but the least you could do is make an effort to report actual polo!ng numbers not those pushed out by the Clinton campaign. 😇. Even mainstream corporate media acknowledges that Bernie leads Hillary in both NH and Iowa and in all match ups against the members Of the clown car. This presidential election is not about electing a female to the office it is about saving a democracy and frankly Hillary comes up short. If you and your daughter think that having a female President should be the nation's top priority, why don't you come out in support of someone like Elizabeth Warren who like BernieSanders is in it for the sake of the nation not just be president.

Warren has made it more than clear that she does NOT want to run AT ALL this time around. She is committed to her position, and wants to finish her term before she thinks about maybe running next time around.
