Federal judge denies Cliven Bundy bail. Good thinking judge. Update!

Courtesy of OPB:

A federal judge in Portland denied bail for Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy at a hearing Tuesday.

Magistrate Judge Janice Stewart agreed with prosecutors that Bundy posed a flight risk, is a danger to the community, and should be held in jail while awaiting trial.

“I agree with the government, if he’s released and goes back to his ranch that will be the last the court will see of him,” Stewart said.

Wait, do you mean the judge thinks that simply because this yahoo flouts the law at every turn, and believes that as a sovereign citizen they don't apply to him, that he might not show up for a court date?

Like I said, smart judge.

I wonder how the Bundy boys are enjoying all of their God given freedom right about now?

Update:  It looks like the feds have now indicted some of the morons from the Oregon standoff, with crimes committed during the 2014 Nevada standoff.

Courtesy of Oregon Live

Ammon Bundy, brother Ryan Bundy, Ryan Payne and Peter Santilli -- already indicted in the armed takeover of a federal wildlife refuge in eastern Oregon -- now face federal indictment along with Cliven Bundy in the 2014 armed standoff near the Bundy ranch in Nevada.

The indictment charges the four with 16 felonies: one count of conspiring to commit an offense against the United States, one count of conspiring to impede or injure a federal officer, four counts of carrying a firearm in a crime of violence, two counts of assault on a federal officer, two counts of threatening a federal law enforcement officer, three counts of obstructing justice, two counts of interfering with interstate commerce by extortion and one count of interstate travel in aid of extortion.

It also levels five counts of criminal forfeiture against each defendant. If convicted of the offenses, they would have to forfeit property obtained from the proceeds of their crimes, totaling at least $3 million, including cattle at the so-called Bunkerville Allotment and Lake Mead National Recreational Area in Nevada. They also would have to forfeit firearms and ammunition used in the April 12, 2014, standoff with federal authorities.

I love the smell of justice in the morning, don;t you?

Ahahaaa, too right, thanks for the much-needed laugh.

It restores my faith in "we the people", as Sarah loves to repeat ad infinitum.

We the people have spoken on what to do with these morons. I hope all the other conservative moocher wimps take note.

Its about time! I guess with the death of Scalia a few judges are getting their balls back and upholding the law for a change.
We've had the DHS report since 09 about these Militia types and they whined and pushed their way around, its time to come down on their asses and throw them in jail. Weapons charges everything! Throw the book at them.

  3. Proof of Bundy's hubris is that he actually got on a plane to go to Oregon after the crazy at his ranch in 2014. I guess all of this is about a bunch of simpletons who wreak of privilege and the delusion that they are owed something.

From now on they will be relying on the government for everything from aspirin to toilet paper.

And, heh heh, they do not give out aspirin in a federal prison. They will live with their aches and pains.

However, federal inmates are regularly tested for HIV - unlike their peers in a state-run facility. At least the Bundy boys have that to console themselves.

Cloven will not see the light of day. Next up? They need to get those cattle rounded up and hauled off. However, according to the court document, those cattle may not be fit for sale.

Cliven Bundy, the Nevada rancher in custody over charges stemming from his involvement in a 2014 armed standoff, is terrible at cattle ranching, according to a court document filed by federal authorities on Tuesday.

"While Bundy claims he is a cattle rancher, his ranching operation -- to the extent it can be called that -- is unconventional if not bizarre," wrote the U.S. attorneys for the districts of Nevada and Oregon in a memorandum arguing for Bundy's continued detention before trial.

After reading this: 2-16-16 Doc 4 - U.S.A. v CLIVEN BUNDY - USA Detention Memorandum for Cliven Bundy, all of those dumbasses are going to get arrested at some point in time if they haven't already. The Feds have been collecting information on these tough guys since the standoff and building a case(s) against them. They have talked themselves into a long term prison sentence with every action and word they have spewed or shown in public and on social media. Dumb, dumb, dumb. Here's what the Feds been doing: All of that said and despite those obstacles, the investigation began the day after the assault and continues to this day, identifying the assaulters, where they came from, how they got to Nevada, their connections to Bundy and others and their role in the assault and the aftermath.".

I am so glad that the Feds played the long game and waited to pounce on this miscreants. So much more satisfying and appropriate. Tarp Man was right. He would have spent his life in jail, so he took the alternative: suicide by cop.

The hits just keep on coming and it does soften the fear that the US may end up with Trump as president. I keep hoping that Trump will finally have his Greg Stillson (Dead Zone) moment and people will see what a low-life he really is.

I don't know much about law, but those sound like a whole lot of VERY serious charges. And the defendants have so thoughtfully provided the federal government with a boatload of evidence against themselves.

Guess all those Tee-Vee interviews with those big-league reporters and their fancy cameras may not have been such a good idea after all, huh fellas??? And maybe you shouldn't have gone on those inter-webs and posted all those videos of you trashing federal property and threatening law enforcement officers either. As your buddy, Rick Perry, might say, "Oops!"
