Good guy Bernie Sanders.

Courtesy of CBS News:

Although he's officially an independent senator, Sanders decided to compete for the Democratic nomination. He's said since he announced his candidacy that he would not run as an independent, and he said Monday that "of course" he still plans to hold to that pledge despite his recent success.

Sanders said he thought about running as independent in the first place, but decided not to.

"If we were serious about winning this election, which is always my intention from day one, I thought we could and I hope that we will. I had to do it within the Democratic primary caucus process," he said.

"What I did not want to do is run as a third party candidate, take votes away from the Democratic candidate and help elect some right-wing Republican. I did not want responsibility for that. So what I said at the beginning of the campaign is that I was not going to run as an independent. And I say it now, that if I do not win this process I will not run as an independent."

Politics can be an ugly business and sometimes things are said in the heat of battle that can nurture anger and distrust long after an election is over.

But at the end of the day Bernie Sanders is a good and decent man. And if by some chance he wins the nomination I will support him 100%.

So let us remember, as we argue for our candidates in the primaries, that we ALL have one goal in common, and that is to make sure that the next President of the United States is NOT one of the passengers from that GOP clown car.

Yes, Bernie IS a good guy. I expect he will hold to his convictions and promises. Honesty is a scarce commodity in the realm of politics.

    6. That is the biggest difference between Bernie and Donald (who they are comparing him to now.)

      Bernie keeps his promises.

      Donald does not.

      Bernie tells the truth.

Donald tells you whatever you want to hear, the more outrageous, bigoted, racist and hateful, the better.

Bernie is a man of convictions.

Donald is a man of ambition.

I'm a registered Independent voter. I don't like the fact that Bernie Saunders is running as a Democratic candidate because he's an Independent senator. I don't care what his reasoning is, he shouldn't be seeking the Democratic nomination because he is not a member of the Democratic party.

All it takes is to watch the debates to discern who are fit to lead this country.

I believe I have heard him say that. I don't recall her ever saying that. In fact Hillary reminds me of a toddler fighting over her favorite toy- that mine! I guess that's one of the things that bothers me the most about her, her sense of entitlement. She's jumped through all the right hoops and now we have to reward her with her prize. I distrust her motives whereas I feel Bernie is doing it because he cares about equality for others. Besides equality, he cares about our healthcare (sorry folks until we can regulate the cost of drugs and medical supplies this will never be fixed) and education system, infrastructure, jobs, and a livable wage for everyone. I'm sorry but if this makes me an independent, a socialist or a Commie then I can take the name calling. Go Sanders!

Hillary said that if Sander's gets the nom she will support him. I haven't seen one thing that suggests she has a sense of entitlement any larger than anyone else asking for your vote, including Sander's. They all have to believe they can and should be elected.

Ideally, for me, the winner would pick the other as their running mate because I think they balance each other well and believe they would respect and serve each other well.

As for what they say on the campaign trail, that is just what it is -- campaign rhetoric, nothing personal. They, unlike the GOP, are not street-fighting each other; they are adults.

I have faith the unpledged delegates will vote in a way that supports the will of the voters like they did in 2008. I think it's unimagineable they'd blatantly put their thumb on the scale for Clinton if Clinton isn't the clear winner of the primaries. However, I think many of them currently are using their endorsements to try to influence people to vote for Clinton. I think it's unfortunate they're allowed to do this, but most of them have enough name-recognition they could get in front of a camera or behind a microphone to campaign for their fave anyway.

Since most people don't know the difference between a Socialist and a Communist, it will be easy to smear him and turn voters away from him, regardless of who the Republican nominee is, then he becomes this election's McGovern. If he doesn't get the nomination, then I can see him being the next McCarthy, tearing the party apart at the convention, like what happened in Chicago in 68, and leading to the Dems defeat.

One problem that I see is that many of Sanders' supporters will not be true to his promise and will run as far as possible from the Democratic nominee. Another problem for me is that Sanders is now using the Democratic Party while still keeping a distance from it and that, I think, is wrong. Still, as a good Democrat and because I do not want to see a Republican in the White House next year, I would support Sanders' should he become the Democratic nominee.

Given how disengaged the electorate in this country is, most people know nothing about Bernie, Cruz, Trump or Rubio. Wait until the Repube smear machine comes out with their Bernie Sanders equals B.S./Commie/tax raising attack ads. Or, wait until Hillary's campaign exposes Cruz's religious/anti-gay extremism, Trump's shady business dealings or Rubio for the pathetic little boy who's totally out of his league.

Wise up everyone. National head-to-head polls at this stage of the election campaign are completely and utterly meaningless. Just because they show Hillary losing to some Repubes or Bernie beating them doesn't mean that's going to happen 9 months from now.

Bernie Sanders doesn't think Obama or Bill Clinton were good presidents.

Bernie Sanders’ brother said that everyone is glossing over Bill Clinton’s record as president because they’re too focused on: “Is Bill really such a terrible rapist — or is he a nice rapist?”

“Bill Clinton has leapt in to try and make it personal with Bernard,” Larry Sanders said in an interview with The Daily Beast. “He was a dreadful president — in general — for poor people.”

    "Nowhere Else To Go

The reason we breathe the political air we do has everything to do with the presidency of Bill Clinton. He was the corporate revolutionary that brought the Democratic Party back from the irrelevance of Mondale and Dukakis. After 12 years of Republican elitism masquerading as supply-side wisdom, Clinton’s genius was to simply become a Republican in Democratic cloth, guiding the party of labor into the cigar-scented embrace of big capital. He adopted the neoliberal strategies of the Reagan era, recasting them in the counterfeit clothing of progressive populism.

Rather than challenge the power of money in politics, he embraced it. His strategy of triangulation proved the perfect model for unlocking conservative streams of wealth and simultaneously putting the conservative party on their heels. Imagine a simple triangle. On the bottom left is a liberal opinion. On the bottom right is a conservative opinion. At the apex of the triangle—well, that is your policy. Smack in-between the progressive left and the conservative right. That meant, in practice, moving right on key issues. In response, the Republicans have carved out a new homestead along the frontier of anti-government extremism. No surprise, really. After all, here was some Arkansas arriviste pilfering their positions and passing them off as his own. Clinton lifted their ideas, pimped out his platform to their donors, and somehow convinced his base not to burn down the Democratic Party. How else could they react?"

I followed the links to the original survey and I'm not very impressed. The specific questions about the specific candidates are leading and designed to be negative toward Clinton and positive toward Sanders. I don't see anything in the listed methodology to show this is a representative sample, and fewer than 1200 people were surveyed. The survey was done by a Conservative news organization that seems to dislike Clinton more than Sanders.

Regardless, in Colorado, it all comes down to who can actually drag themselves out of their houses to caucus.

In the minutes of a secret 1975 meeting of the National Security Council attended by President Ford reveal Henry Kissinger grumbling, "It is an act of insanity and national humiliation to have a law prohibiting the President from ordering assassination."

Incredibly, Henry Kissinger—the man who rivals Pol Pot for the dubious honor of being the person responsible for the death of the largest number of innocent people in South East Asia (and far surpasses Pol Pot in criminality when one factors in Kissinger's various levels of responsibility for wholesale slaughter and repression in other parts of the world)—still wields significant power in the United States; but his role as eager facilitator of mass murder, totalitarian repression and other atrocities is never discussed in polite society.

Masterminded the murder of as estimated 600,000 peasants in Cambodia (the "Secret bombing")

Would there be any support for a Sanders/Kasich ticket?

could it even happen, though I don't see why not since political parties are an artificial construct and I doubt there is law to prevent two individuals from different parties running together.

We have all spring and summer until the final candidates are chosen and running mates in place, but I think this will be a Dem POTUS year for me, as it stands now just from reading about the debates and skimming what the main candidates have to say.

Earlier this week, four economists -- Alan Krueger, Christina Romer, Austan Goolsbee and Laura D’Andrea Tyson -- wrote an open letter accusing Friedman of making "extreme claims" in that study that "undermine the credibility of the progressive economic agenda." Krugman then published multiple blog posts citing the letter as evidence that the Sanders campaign was engaging in "fantasy" and "voodoo."

The problem with these condemnations, according to former JEC Executive Director James Galbraith, is that none of the economists involved in the fracas actually crunched any numbers to show why Friedman's study was supposedly such a sham. Galbraith now teaches economics at the University of Texas at Austin.

"You write that you have applied rigor to your analyses of economic proposals by Democrats and Republicans," Galbraith wrote in a letter to Krueger, Romer, Goolsbee and Tyson. "On reading this sentence I looked to the bottom of the page, to find a reference or link to your rigorous review of Professor Friedman's study. I found nothing there."
