Nearly 20% of Trump supporters think that Abraham Lincoln should not have freed the slaves.

Courtesy of Time:

Donald Trump appears to have high levels of support among the nation’s intolerant population, according to a New York Times deep dive into polling data.

The Times found that nearly 20% of Trump supporters did not approve of freeing the slaves, according to a January YouGov/Economist poll that asked respondents if they supported or disapproved of “the executive order that freed all slaves in the states that were in rebellion against the federal government”—Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

Here is another example of a time when I would like to say I am shocked by this, but honestly I am not.

I am also not shocked to learn that David Duke, former Gran Wizard of the Klu Klux Klan, said this:

“Voting for these people, voting against Donald Trump at this point, is really treason to your heritage.”

"I’m not saying I endorse everything about Trump. In fact, I haven’t formally endorsed him. But I do support his candidacy, and I support voting for him as a strategic action. I hope he does everything we hope he will do.”

Nor am I in the least surprised to learn that a white supremacist SuperPAC is making robo-calls on his behalf.

Trump is speaking to the fringe of the fringe, and it he were to be elected it would do immeasurable harm to this country, and perhaps even undo many, if not most, of President Obama's greatest accomplishments.

Every single GOP candidate is loathsome is some way, but Donald Trump is essentially loathsome in every way.

Gryphen's headline says among Trump supporters, 20% are abolitionists. The Time article says roughly 80% are abolitionists, thus 20% are not. Which is it?

Will be hard to differentiate between robo-calls from palin and the KKK since they share the exact same message.

So only 20% didn't agree with freeing the slaves, I'd have thought it was much higher.

    2. Truly.

With the YUUUUGE support he has from the White Supremacists, I would have thought a lot more than 20% would have liked to see slavery continue in this country.

Of course, in the south they never really gave it up entirely. It's called the penal system now.

But man, it is so disturbing to see white guys in KKK full attire carrying pro-Trump signs and hearing that 2 out of 10 of his supporters wish there were still slavery. Wow.

say, Gryphen, I call BULLSHIT on Christie's endorsement of Trump!

Some people say it's a classic corrupt political quid pro quo where President-elect Trump may have promised - in exchange for the coveted official Christie seal of approval - to decree that after inauguration day 2017, Christie MUST henceforth be referred to as a "Husky Hunk" and no longer as a "Fat Fuck". Violators could be subject to the death penalty and/or life in prison.

At least that's what some people say.

Because as someone in legal, that short court process involving 1 mediation do not add up to what is being claimed. Especially when you consider the years of inactivity. (Aug 2010-Feb 2014)

As scary as Trump is, Cruz scares me even more. Trump is pragmatic (for the most part.) He's saying what he needs to say to get the nomination, then, just like Romney, he's going to become more moderate once he's got the nomination.

Cruz is a religious fanatic and zealot. There's no telling what his God might tell him to do.

  23. Electing an African/American as President has certainly brought the racist out into the open. It’s also no surprise the ignorant and under educated have also come out into the open since there seems to be a strong connection between the two. I’m also almost convinced that McConnell is a racist or why would he come out during President Obama’s inauguration and make his claim that they would make sure President Obama would only be a one term President. Being the Speaker of the House, it’s no surprise we see the obstruction in the Senate that we do today. This could be the final last breath of the Republican Party. And McConnell will most likely go down in history as the idiot and major contributor to all of this.

President Trump Won't Have To Tell CEO Trump 'You're Fired'

By law, he could keep running his business empire from the Oval Office.

WASHINGTON -- When or if President Donald J. Trump takes the oath of office on Jan. 20, 2017, he might not settle for just being the guy in the Oval Office. The eccentric billionaire could add the new title to his already existing preamble as chairman, CEO and president of The Trump Organization.......

I'm not shocked, sadly. I've seen "Tagged" buildings in decent neighborhoods, all painted up with nasty anti black words and nazi images. People try to cover it up, but they're back with a vengeance. They're everywhere. I live on the east coast, just had our retirement home built, and we have to go a different way because it's on a main highway and my blood boils when I see it. For every one that's "out", there are hundreds "closeted".

Who would have ever thought that something like THAT would be the rallying cry of the LEADING candidate for the Presidency?

The same people, always whining about the poor and immigrants getting away with all their tax dollars, doing nothing to earn them...

...will tell you they think Trump can run the nation like a casino, making a YUGE profit...the result of which is never spoken out loud, but is obviously that they'd expect to SHARE in that windfall...

...getting money sent to them, for doing absolutely nothing.
