Rand Paul is out. Update: And Santorum too!

Courtesy of Politico:

Rand Paul dropped out of the 2016 president race on Wednesday, short on cash and support, two days after finishing with under 5 percent in the Iowa caucuses — less than one quarter of the support his father had drawn four years earlier.

You know I never understood what attracted the Ron Paul support, but whatever it was that he had it skipped a generation.

Rand Paul says some things that I like hearing from the GOP, such as putting an end to military intervention in other countries, and protecting our privacy here at home.

But then he says those other Rand Paul things, and that essentially erases any possible respect that most Americans might feel for him.

Now the only question to be asked is "Who's next?"

Update: Well I guess we know who's next.

Courtesy of the Washington Times:

Rick Santorum has suspended his 2016 presidential bid, according to multiple media reports.

Mr. Santorum will both leave the race and make an endorsement, likely making the announcement Wednesday night on Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren,” CNN reported.

Usually I don't typically get the chance to combine two candidates quitting the race in one post, but damn these guys are dropping like flies today!

Okay anybody want to predict the next one?

He doesn't want to protect our privacy when it comes to reproductive freedom.

That is so true. But then again, no GOP member does. I just wonder if later he'll try and angle for a VP pick.

Looks like someone lifted up one side of that deep bench and they're all tumbling off the other side.

The 3 Amigos, Trump, Cruz and Rubio, on horses, riding into the sunset.

Three horses asses riding off into the sunset. Maybe he could stay home. be a father to that son who keeps getting DUI's? He claims the African American kids get into trouble because of no father in the home. Does he think maybe HIS kid needs some discipline?

At a 'rally' in New Hampshire, after an 'impassioned' speech, Jeb Bush literally had to ask people to clap! How more pathetic can it get for Jeb???

I almost feel sorry for the guy. It's so obvious to me he was pushed into this position - he never has acted as though his heart was in it.

And, now his mother is going to come out to assist in supporting him! She was the one that didn't want him to run in the first place!

Another mess of a family situation in politics!

He wanted the position, just not all the work. He was hoping for the same kind of breaks his dumb brother got. Their Daddy and parents friends all gave the Bush boys any job they ever had, with little to no effort from them. He has finally found a job they can not BUY, so he is stuck.

I heard her chairperson on NPR yesterday bragging about her "50 state strategy." She claimed that they have people on the ground in every state, and that voters just don;t know Carly yet (kind of like we didn't know the real Rick Perry, who is a step above Snyder only because Perry never poisoned anyone, that we know of.) How about Sanctimonious Rick, who has;t had a josicne he was kicked out of the Senate..how many years ago now? Who is paying the many healthcare costs of the lovely Bella? Funny how her care was so important four years ago, and now, he's afraid to admit that they have the ACA and it's great!

Sarah just had to dig out an old picture of her and Paul together. Have you ever seen anyone who promotes themselves more? Notice that she is saying she will pledge her support for him in the senate. She is advertising for endorsements. Oh, and also, where are the Belmonts?

Of course he's running to FOX's Greta Von Pug Face, as if he owes them a favor or two.

I've only known of 2 people who said they would vote for Rand Paul and this was 3-4 years ago. They were both in their late 30's and they both said because he sees nothing wrong with smoking pot.

Rand Paul says, "Well, shit... I'm getting out because the numbers dictate that I do."

while Huckabee is more, "God told me that He wanted me to be president, but then yesterday He said I should knock it off cause He was just fuckin with me. So. Shit."

Rand Paul is like a Trojan horse. He looks like a libertarian but is really a states' rights racist, misogynist, and conspiracy theorist. He takes stands on military intervention, justice, and drug policy to attract young voters to add new names to the Paul family mailing list.

My guess is that the next three to bail will be Gilmore, then Kasich, and then Ben Carson. The first two will realize that the establishment Republicans are going for Rubio, and Carson will announce that Jesus spoke to him and told him that he has greater plans for him.

Then I think that Jeb! and Christie will give a joint press release and quit on the same day, in an attempt to lessen the embarrassment. Fiorina will stay to the bitter end in a belief that Republican women will finally realize how sexist Trump is, and also to gather up all of the crazies who want to bomb Planned Parenthood. Then, Rubio will surge ahead, and both Trump and Cruz will decide to run as Independants. Then Hillary will ask Bernie to be her running mate and promise if elected to appoint Warren to head some kind of Wallstreet/Banking/Campaign Finance squad, and also ask Obama to be her Secretary of State. This is my prediction (at least that's how it went in my dreams last night).

Remember that Rand Paul just proposed a Personhood bill (S2464), making a just-fertilised egg equal to an adult.

    1. Yeah, right. ::pfffft!::

That continuum is an *extremely* slippery slope. From fertilized egg to unfertilized is much less of a stretch than from fetus to baby.

If they decide that we murder "babies" every month when we menstruate (and I've heard this discussed along with miscarriages), I hope like hell that men are criminally charged for every discharge, including wet dreams.

There are churches that preach that the ONLY acceptable time and purpose of sex is to make babies, and anything else is sinful.

Unfortunately, these religious nutters believe that "sin" (a totally fabricated concept) equates to "crime" (another fabricated concept), and so secular laws can be used to penalize religious faults. Condemning a child-abuser to an imaginary hell is as asinine as jailing someone who fails to tithe.

      Separate systems require separate laws.

Carly Fiorina. She'll be the next to drop out, followed by Chrispie.

    ReplyDelete
  27. About time. Both of them were way overdue.

There must be some monetary advantage to sticking it out through the first primary.

Has Huckabee dropped out yet? Maybe after New Hampshire. Fiorina should be done about then too.

I expect Christie and Bush to stick it out a bit with Rubio. I think those three are going to try to wait out Trump and Cruz. Carson is heading down but too stupid to drop out while he still has any money. I'll bet he thinks he'll recover from 3rd or 4th place just because he used to be #1 months ago.

    Is Kasich gone yet?
