Republican Debate Open Thread. Because, why not?

Personally I can hardly wait until November when ALL of these assholes are covered by a black mark.
So yes tonight we have yet ANOTHER GOP debate.

I have to admit that I am pretty over the whole GOP race, especially since it looks like Trump is going to emerge victorious. Which by the way COMPLETELY undermines every single thing the Republican party has said about the importance of morality, family values, experience, pro-life credibility, and just about everything else that they have been attacking Democrats over for the last thirty plus years or so.

The one possible thing about tonight's debate that might make it worth putting off my Netflix and chill plans for tonight, is that the friction between "the Donald" and Ted "so creepy I can;t look him in the face" Cruz is at an all time high.

Which means that Trump is going to make Cruz his butt boy tonight.

Don't think I want to miss that.

I also imagine that there will be quite a number of kisses blown toward the memory of Antonin Scalia, so for those brave souls sitting through this tonight remember to have your barf bags at the ready.

As always you can follow me on Twitter, and I will be updating the post as events dictate.

    1. Absolutely. He managed to praise Scalia and hammer home he has a right, duty and responsibility to fill the position. And that there was plenty of time to nominate and confirm a new justice.

The gauntlet has been thrown and he slapped them upside the head with all the key words. It was eloquent.

I'll admit it: When I heard that Scalia had shuffled off, the first thing I thought was "Now THAT'S some jiggery-pokery!"

The second thing I thought was that, well, maybe he should have eaten more broccoli.

"I plan to fulfill my Constitutional responsibilities to nominate a successor in due time," Obama said. "There will be plenty of time for me to do so and for the Senate to fulfill its responsibility to give that person a fair hearing and a timely vote."

It's on!~ Time to get down!

  6. Might be that a Trump nomination SHOULD undermine what Republicans say about family and morality, but of course that assumes the centrality of these themes hasn't been an open lie all along, which I think it clear is. Still, it's damned said to see Narcissa Trump preening with the whole nation as his mirror.

We could all find out very soon just what could be worse than the establishment.

Trump thinks his sister would make a great Supreme Court Justice. And she's pretty liberal.

Does anybody really believe that ANY of them would do the same?

I'm sure that President Obama will select an excellent supreme court nominee that will make the gop candidates eat their words. It would be reckless to wait until after the next president is inaugurated in Janury 2017 since it will take a few months for the Senate to confirm the person. I could understand delaying if it was already September or October 2016 but it will be at least a year before the supreme court opening is filled if we delay it now.

      Delete
    2. McConnell should be eating his words already since his latest pronouncement is a direct 180 from what he said in 2005. Of course Bush was president then and Obama is president now.

But my gag moment so far is when Rubio said the Constitution is NOT a living, breathing document and should not be interpreted but enforced at face value. (So much for Cruz being a natural born citizen.)

Cruz is the scary one. He warns if Obama puts a liberal judge on the court they'll reverse Scalia's 2nd amendment interpretation and he also managed to get abortion in there too. You lnow who he's pandering to.

FAQ: Can I informally opt not to receive child support on behalf of my children, since our collective incomes will be sufficient?

A: This is not advisable, for you or for your ex. Instead, you should consider saving the money in a Section 529 Plan for your children's education if you do not need it for day-to-day expenses. In addition, your ex should continue to keep clear, accurate records of each child support payment made in the event that there is ever any question as to whether he or she has remained current on those payments.

Once, Again, someone saw Bristol on the debate stage and just HAD to bring up her most salient political wisdom. But my opinion differs, Bristol wasn't on stage, she's not running for anything, and the last person to advise other people on parenting issues is Bristol Palin and her ex husbands. Oh wait, she was never married, oh well, she's got plenty of time to find a husband between pushing out babies and living vibrantly. College fund for Tripp? Already? Dream on. He'll get a full scholarship with Levi's brains and looks. Then she can get more fat sucked out, plastic surgery, and write moar buks.
If she were smart, she'd get a gig selling pee sticks. She so famously pledged, on Oprah's show, she "would never have sex again unless she's married" Oprah tried to give her an out, and she vehemently dug her manolo balonics in the rug and proclaimed to the world "Furreal Furreal, honest no more sex until marriage" She lied about that, and she lied about the college fund. She's spending money treading water trying to be famous like the Kardashians OR she's shooting for "19 and counting part deux"

Sen. Mitch McConnell, in 2005, defending the absolute right of a sitting president to nominate judges.

"The Constitution of the United States is at stake. Article II, Section 2 clearly provides that the President, and the President alone, nominates judges. The Senate is empowered to give advice and consent. But my Democratic colleagues want to change the rules. They want to reinterpret the Constitution to require a supermajority for confirmation. In effect, they would take away the power to nominate from the President and grant it to a minority of 41 Senators."
"[T]he Republican conference intends to restore the principle that, regardless of party, any President's judicial nominees, after full debate, deserve a simple up-or-down vote. I know that some of our colleagues wish that restoration of this principle were not required. But it is a measured step that my friends on the other side of the aisle have unfortunately made necessary. For the first time in 214 years, they have changed the Senate's 'advise and consent' responsibilities to 'advise and obstruct.'"
