Republican Debate Open Thread.

Okay sports fans here we go again.

My expectations for tonight are that Donald Trump solidifies his lead over the also rans, and that Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio spend most of the debate shooting spitballs at each other instead of going after Trump for fear he will bitchslap them again like he does everybody who attempts to cut him down to size.

Of course if they are smart they will combine their efforts to keep him off balance in the hopes that he will respond reflexively in a manner which illustrates his thin skin and lack of cool under fire.

I also expect that John Kasich and Ben Carson will show up, but at this point who really cares as they simply have very little to offer in entertainment value.

As always I will stick it out as long as my gag reflex allows and you can follow me here on Twitter to read my immediate impressions.

For those who have not been paying close attention this debate is on CNN, and if you are reading this post it has already started.

Donald Trump Said A Lot Of Gross Things About Women On “Howard Stern”

In the hours of audio reviewed by BuzzFeed News, Trump ranks, rates, and degrades women.

      Anonymous7:40 PM,

The people who like him are the misogynists whose ego he feeds. To paraphrase Lyndon B. Johnson:

"If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man (woman), he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you."

    4. And yet, plenty are still voting for him.

I don't understand how any woman can degrade herself enough to vote for this pig.

I wish you wouldnt dismiss Ben Carson's quixotic - (that's latin or portugese for lunatic) - quest to be president. There are many of us older Americans who are also planning to spend our golden years running for president, mostly because we have nothing better to do with our time. Now that Walmart is employing robots as greeters, what other options does Ben - or me - have?

    In conclusion, remember:

I am fluent in Portuguese and studied latin for three years. I know Spanish is derived from Spanish. But the word's latin root means hip not lunatic, as you stated. Even in its modern meaning from Man of la Mancha, it doesn't mean lunatic. It means overly idealistic, impractical, unrealistic to the point of foolishness.

I know what it's come to mean in English because of Don Quixote, but in Spanish it means the back end of a horse. That was part of the wit of the novel. The main character was named "Sir Horse's Ass".

I'm listening on the radio now. Had to turn off the TV because of the visual horror that Trump is with his big bully body language and fat white fingers that never stop moving.

It's bad enough hearing him with his constant interruptions that all the debate moderators just keep letting happen. Can't look at him or I'll puke. He needs to be told to shut the hell up. He bitches if anyone says a thing while he's talking and then just barrels forward with his own interruptions so that people can't hear what other speakers are saying. When are people going to shut that a-hole up.

And Trump complains about plants in the audience every debate. Listen and you'll hear a screechy female voice or two hooting and hollering in approval of everything Trump says. That is a plant.

I blame Fox News and its relentless attacks on Barack Obama; a good and decent man, that led to the rise of nasty, divisive abusive commentary that was passed off as 'news.' This help stir up the white, elderly racists in this country and it has taken hold.
This country is in better shape than it was at the end of George Bush's turn, but you'll never hear that on 'the No.1 news show on TV.' Oh hell no! Keep the dimwitted angry and stirred up, and you get a bully for president.

Because the insecurities of fear and hatred of "the others" lead to acceptance of authoritarianism as a method of self protection. The smaller the words, the shorter the sentences, the better to incite those whose sense of reason and rationality have shut been by the primitive part of the brain which instinctively reacts with only two emotions: Fight or Flight.

OT, but check Sunny's Instagram. She might as well have tagged Bristol in it. "The only people mad at you for speaking the truth are those living a lie. Keep speaking it!"
Don't laugh at me, but I wondered if this was actually a message to MALOE! I realize probably not. But the "keep speaking it" part made me wonder. Damn you McCain for inflicting this soap opera on our country. Levi was a child when WHATEVER happened with Trig went down. There's a reason we have a dozen photos of Levi with a newborn Trig/in the hospital with Trig but none of Sarah. Yet after Bristol and Levi split, Sarah said she only met Levi twice before the campaign? The boyfriend of your teenage daughter who you've met twice is in your hospital room, holding your baby? In the wee hours of the morning? PAH LEEZE!
I have been researching baby gate afresh lately. I think a sadly overlooked tidbit was Sarah's speech where she said Trig was born in Anchorage at "7 and a half months".

People. Google "photos of babies born at 7.5 months". And tell me if you think ANY of those babies would be discharged home within 18 hours of birth? It's not just obviously a lie...it's...ludicrous! Completely, farcically, obnoxiously, ludicrous!

Anyway, regarding the Instagram back and forth with Sunny and Bristol- Something went down. Something major. I think this playing nice chapter was short lived. Bristol is too much of a bitch, and she simply hates Levi more than she loves Tripp, to actually be decent to Levi and Sunny.

I think something serious happened. Bristol tried to seduce Levi (HA! Haaaaaaaaaaaa!) or some otherwise unforgivable thing.

Levi. For goodness sake, son. Please let it all out. Truth is the absolute defense. Please just put it all out there. It has to be eating you up inside to have been forced silent all these years.

You were a child then, and they took advantage. Now you're a man. You can do this.

I posted the original comment and I'm truly sorry if I polluted anyone's republican debate goodness. But let's be real here. It's the republicans. "Debating". I could leave piles of digital dog crap everywhere and would I REALLY be lowering the cachet of this event?

Also, too: I was in a hurry to post because often when Sunny or Levi speaks up like that, it's deleted in a New York minute. Ipso facto, I posted in the topmost thread but with an apology.

@6:23 this is true. However, the relevant fact here is that Levi CHOSE to stop acting like a child. Bristol CHOSE and still chooses to act like an immature brat.

@7:49, I know! It's one of many, many times I have wondered how on earth she thinks these things she said won't be disproven. Just with the photo evidence we'd all seen at that point, it was obvious Sarah was lying through her newly veneered teeth about meeting Levi only twice.

@6:35, couldn't really add much to that assessment, my dear. Bully, deluded, disgusting POS. You hit all the talking points.

@6:27, well that's just the point- it could be anyone. I'm just saying, I wondered if it WAS MALOE, and if the "Hawaii plant" story was "planted" by a Palin herself to bring MALOE down. I realize I sound like a basement dweller here but then I think- who are we talking about, here? The sitting governor who stuffed a pillow in her panties and said it was a special needs infant. Her daughter who overhauled her entire face and claimed the changes were from "dental work". Her son who is at this very moment under indictment for attacking a petite woman- he, a large man, brutalized her. And I could go on and on but I won't. The point is- with this crew literally anything is possible- including Sunny sending a message to MALOE or someone else she can't speak to directly.

5:52 you really need to come to grips with the fact that you are completely Palin obsessed, Bristol too also. You are obsessed with a 25 yo single mother from Alaska. Just that statement should make you take pause.

You write: "Levi. For goodness sake, son. Please let it all out. Truth is the absolute defense. Please just put it all out there. It has to be eating you up inside to have been forced silent all these years."

Lets be honest, it isn't Levi thats getting eaten up inside being silent, It is you who who are getting eaten up inside because Levi hasn't done what you want him to do.

You don't know Levi or any of these people. And you don't know what they do or don't know. And it is strange that you are so obsessed about it.

Seek help dude. You need it.

9:42 - oh, for heaven'so sake, leave it alone. If someone wants to discuss a Palin, what is it to you to critique them like you just did. If the Palin weren't so high & mighty by pretending & pushing their God & family values, then no one would care what they do. Just don't read these posts if they offend you so much.

552/836: cachet of the event, hahaha.
855: The comment is to someone who IS speaking the truth, which is not Bristol. It could be directed to Levi except he hasn't really spoken out. MALOE makes sense. It seemed clear that she and Sunny know each other: MALOE talked about her very warmly.
942: Sarah Palin is a hand-picked standard bearer for today's GOP and Tea Party movement, and a darling of the religious right. She stood alongside the current front-runner for the '16 GOP nomination, who happily accepted her endorsement. If they were just another nasty white trash family down the street, any caring person would rightly worry about the abuse being inflicted on the younger generation. But they are so much more than that. It's going to be a matter for the history books that the mainstream media was content to ignore the lies, leaving it to the pajama-clad bloggers to get at the truth. (If you think history won't figure it out, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you.)

Yet again you give yourself away, 810am. (Here's a hint: maybe stop using the phrase "obsessed moron" in every single post? A Thesaurus can be your friend, dear.) Donald Trump is the leading candidate for the GOP nomination. He proudly stood on a stage with Sarah Palin just a few weeks ago. She was annointed 8 years ago by the GOP as their standard bearer, and they have never disavowed her, much less owned up to their role in the cover-ups. If the GOP powers that be would like to step forward and set the record straight, sharing the things they've obviously known since 2008, I will change my tune. Unless and until that happens, the GOP owns this one.

Being that Donald Trump's supporters don't really care that he isn't really a christian (Two Corinthians anyone?) I doubt they're going to have an issue with some some naked photos of his third wife, oh right, they don't have an issue with him having had three wives either, so this is basically a non-starter.

Children of mothers with mental illness and/or "personality disorders" might love their mothers very much, but will never be comfortable around them because of the toxic, enmeshed interactions. Over time, if they're lucky, they develop more comfortable, healthier bonds to the other loved ones in their lives.

I just read that TRump will be on the stand in court proceedings related to his swindling several people out of sixty thousand bucks to "go to" TRump University. I heard that, whatever else might be said about him (dishonest, smarmy, etc), he's a smart guy who sometimes freezes when he's thrown off his game, as he was in the penultimate debate. Last night he clearly kept his balance, and gave better than he got.
And, YES to what 1046a says about Cruz. I once heard a politician (I think a Senator) what it was like to interact with his colleagues, and his reply was to the effect of, most people in politics are fundamentally like-able people. I.e., even if one is majorly at odds with someone's politics, it's still not hard to get along with them personally. Cruz is clearly an exception to the rule.
