St. Louis Archbishop wants to kick the Girl Scouts off of church property because essentially they do not hate on women and gays nearly enough.

Courtesy of St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson has issued a letter calling on parishes to seek alternatives to Girl Scouts, arguing that the program and related organizations conflict with Roman Catholic teaching.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis isn’t directly kicking Girl Scout troops and activities off church properties (Yes he is.), but is suggesting they and their cookies may no longer be welcome in the fold.

“Girl Scouts is exhibiting a troubling pattern of behavior and it is clear to me that as they move in the ways of the world it is becoming increasingly incompatible with our Catholic values,” Carlson wrote in a letter dated Thursday. “We must stop and ask ourselves — is Girl Scouts concerned with the total well-being of our young women? Does it do a good job forming the spiritual, emotional, and personal well-being of Catholic girls?”

The letter said issues such as reproductive rights and abortion separate the church from Girl Scouts and related organizations.

The letter was a disappointment to Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri CEO Bonnie Barczykowski, who said by email Friday the organization “has enjoyed a history of cooperation with the Archdiocese of St. Louis for almost 100 years.”

"Well you had a good hundred year run Girl Scouts, but if you insist on being so damn reasonable you are going to have to get the fuck off of church property right now. But hey, leave some of those delightful cookies."anti-a

Personally I think that the Girl Scouts should remove themselves from church property, but not because this Archbishop is so intolerant, but because the Catholic Church is bulging at the seams with pedophiles.

I wonder when they will start vetting anyone who shows up at their Bingo or Casino Nights? Can't have "normal" people attending those Catholic events, can we?

Oh no...you and your cash are always welcome at those moneychanger events. Jesus would not be however.

Girl scouts grow up to be democrats who fight for women's rights.

Hm. Here in MI, Girl Scouts have always met at public schools. BOY SCOUTS meet in churches. When my daughter was involved, which was only for three years, they met after school, at school, and there was no push for prayer. 'Twas about empowering the girls, showing them career options, and selling those stupid cookies. Our troop leader was always angry that the huge United Way push in town ignored the GSA while sending funds to the BSA. Ticked me off too.

I was a Girl Scout in the late 1960s and early 1970s and loved it. We did such fun things, like camping and making things. My own kids wanted nothing to do with the Boy Scouts, which was just a Mormon recruiting tool filled with childish adults.

It's the "empowerment" part that really upsets people like the Archbishop of St. Louis.

In the early 60's we met at my grade school (St. Cletus in La Grange, IL). My daughter's troop had a special building built for them from a trust account set up for that purpose by a wealthy elderly lady who loved her scouting days.

Maybe it's a grab for the lucrative cookie business. Remember Cuban-Canadian Ted Cruz suggested that our vets should sell cookies instead of receiving government cheese.

If he were smart, he'd never ask that. The answer is a resounding YES, and smart parents and smart girls know what to do.

I've always thought that the Girl Scouts were a wonderful organization. And I've always happily invested in the cookies - which I have not seen anywhere in our area for the past several years. God, how mean can the Catholic Church in the US get? I hope that this archbishop gets a smackdown by Pope Francis. Fundamentalists all over the country, including the Catholic ones, must have really been annoyed by the campout that the White House held last year. That must have been such an exciting adventure for the girls and their leaders to be part of.

The angry old "christian" crowd are showing themselves fully now, with little restraint, for the hate-filled hypocritical assholes that they are. For all to see.

Now we can make more informed choices as to how those of us that do not hate deal with them. I choose not to participate in it, I'll reject it, walk away from it, live my life away from it, vote against it, and fight it when I see them hurting people. They are horrible!

As someone who was raised Catholic but no longer identify with that religion due to the pedophiles, I re-wrote his statement but substituted "Catholic priests" instead. Here it is:

“Catholic priests are exhibiting a troubling pattern of behavior and it is clear to me that as they move in the ways of the world it is becoming increasingly incompatible with our Catholic values,” Carlson wrote in a letter dated Thursday. “We must stop and ask ourselves — are Catholic priests concerned with the total well-being of our young women? Girls Scouts may be safer not selling cookies to anyone supervised by Robert Carlson.

St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson may have already had an episode of Gonzales Syndrome. Did Robert Carlson think it was a crime for an adult to have sex with a child? GONZALES SYNDROME!!!

It has been reported that this question was asked in the context of Robert Carlson having supervised priests who were accused of having sex with children. This activity apparently was not reported by Carlson to law enforcement as possible sex crimes, was it Gonzales Syndrome?

    "Jun 10 2014, 10:28 am ET
St. Louis Archbishop Didn't Know Sex With Children Was a Crime

The St. Louis archbishop embroiled in a sexual abuse scandal testified last month that he didn’t know in the 1980s whether it was illegal for priests to have sex with children, according to a court deposition released Monday.

Archbishop Robert Carlson, who was chancellor of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul at the time, was deposed as part of a lawsuit against the Twin Cities archdiocese and the Diocese of Winona, Minnesota.

In a video released by the St. Paul law firm Jeff Anderson & Associates, the Catholic archbishop is asked whether he had known it was a crime for an adult to engage in sex with a child.

“I’m not sure whether I knew it was a crime or not,” Carlson responded. “I understand today it’s a crime.”

When asked when he first realized it was a crime for an adult — including priests — to have sex with a child, Carlson, 69, shook his head.

    “I don’t remember,” he testified."

" Minnesota archbishop resigns after alleged abuse cover-up; St. Louis' Carlson testified in case
By Bill Raack & Madeleine Baran - Minnesota Public Radio • Jun 15, 2015"

      http://news.stlpublicradio.org/post/minnesota-archbishop-resigns-after-alleged-abuse-cover-st-louis-carlson-testified-case

      "Carlson denies cover-up

Carlson blamed therapists for providing bad advice on whether priests had been cured of their sexual interest in children. "I don't think there was a cover-up, but I don't think people had the knowledge at the time, and in many ways, we were the victims of those we sent people to for treatment," he said. "I didn't like that, but that's the way it was."

"Don't you think the archdiocese made a grievous mistake in trying to minimize publicity and posture itself in the way it did?" Anderson asked.

"I think counselors made mistakes," Carlson said. "I think people in general made mistakes. I think the Archdiocese made mistakes."

When Carlson continued to claim no memory of key events, Anderson pulled out a transcript of a 1986 deposition of Watters, the former Winona bishop.

Watters, who died in 2009, had testified that Carlson advised him that "the best thing you can say (in depositions) is, 'I don't remember.'"

Carlson disagreed with Watters' account. "I don't remember having this discussion. I don't think I ever said that," he said. "The only advice I would have given, would give anybody, is to talk to your attorney.""

When I see catholic priests excommunicated for pedophilia and the RCC beginning to treat women as human beings instead of those to blame for the "sin of Eve", then I will BEGIN to think there is hope things will change.

Until that time, things like what is posted above and the things priests say when giving depositions (which by the way violates one of their own Ten Commandments when they knowingly lie) do not surprise me.

I AM surprised, however, there are those who ARE surprised by things like this posting!

    More from StLou:

Robert Carlson, the Roman Catholic archbishop of St. Louis, claims that he didn’t always know it was a crime for adults, including priests, to have sex with children. He testifies that he’s not sure when he learned that it was illegal. He testifies that he’s not even sure he knew as far back as the 1970s that sex with children was illegal.

If this testimony is accurate, Archbishop Carlson is a moral idiot who lacked the sense to run a Boy Scout troop, much less a Catholic parish or diocese. But there is good news for the archbishop: documents released yesterday indicate that he may simply be a (butt-covering coward) perjurer.

    http://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/bishop-not-sure-if-child-molestation-is-a-crime/

In a 1984 document [linked], for example, Carlson wrote to the then archbishop of St. Paul and Minneapolis, John R. Roach, about one victim of sexual abuse and mentioned that the statute of limitations for filing a claim would not expire for more than two years. He also wrote that the parents of the victim were considering reporting the incident to the police.

    Much more...

And this lying PoS says what about the GSA?

Carlson's predecessor as St Lo0uis archbishop was Raymond Burke. Burke had this to say about the epidemic of child raping priests some which he supervised:

"As for his view of gay clergy's responsibility for child abuse, Burke's statements came in the midst of an already befuddling rant against the "feminization" of church services, in which he criticizes women and altar girls for driving men away from traditional Mass.

"We can also see that our seminaries are beginning to attract many strong young men who desire to serve God as priests. The new crop of young men are manly and confident about their identity," Burke tells New Emangelization Project founder Matthew James Christoff. "This is a welcome development, for there was a period of time when men who were feminized and confused about their own sexual identity had entered the priesthood; sadly some of these disordered men sexually abused minors, a terrible tragedy for which the Church mourns."

"We have to be very clear with men about purity, chastity, modesty and even the way men dress and present themselves," Burke continues, "Men's behaviors and dress matter, for it affects how they relate to the world and it affects the culture. Men need to dress and act like men in a way that is respectful to themselves, to women and to children.""

Raymond Burke's may be one of the manly men himself. Look at how he dresses to impress. That shit costs real money!

My neighbor is a Girl Scout leader; my wife lead a GS troop for many years.

After reading this article, I called my neighbor and ordered $50 worth of Girl Scout cookies.

GS cookies are now on sale -- contact your local GS and buy all you can handle and then some.

Maybe send a few boxes to this asshole.
