Will we EVER have a President this cool again? Because I somehow doubt it.

He's the best. He's been a successful president, that's why the right hates him so much. Crybabies.

    1. Indeed, what drives them crazy is that they couldn't destroy him and the work he did. They could have behaved decently and not gone down in history as the assholes they are.

He always said, says, "I have faith in the American people." He has faith we will do right. Now come on let's do what we can to elect a normal decent person.

That's what he said when he mentioned Donald Trump NOT being elected POTUS! President Obama said he had trust in the American people!

In other words, the voters were smarter than that in NOT marking their ballots for Donald Trump!

I so wish President Obama and VP Biden could serve a third time! But, both of them are due their rest and transition to their next steps in life!

We are fortunate in having had them in the White House! Thank you gentlemen! There are currently no finer men representing the USA!

And just think what things would have been like these past seven years if the GOP were just a little less like they are. Pres Obama has made the most of things, but just imagine...! I never expected Congress' new millennium to be so conservative and so lacking in vision and decency, but that's all it's been. Since the Gingrich era Congress has remained a horror. It's mind-boggling how so many Americans continue to vote for people who have done little to nothing to lift up their lives.

If Hillary is elected we have another 4-8 years to look back on "what else could have been accomplished" because face it, the Republican Congress is going to obstruct the woman just as hard as they did the black man.

As cool as he is, and he is definitely the coolest, I worry we won't ever have another as humane, intelligent, open and caring about every single citizen of this country- or any country for that matter.

This man loves the people of this planet, knows how to take care of it, and I'd vote him in for life if I could.

He's definitely not finished making a difference, and neither is the FLOTUS. I suspect they will take a brief break from the spotlight of the Presidency before getting down to work helping to make this country a better one.

They will now have the advantage of not having Congress actively obstruct everything they try to do.

Gryphen, yesterday you posted the "firsts" that President Obama has faced and my heart ached reading it. He has endured bigotry and hatred with his head held high, always exhibiting great dignity and class. His respect for the office he holds and his responsibility to the American people has been something we may never witness again. He has never openly addressed his opponents for their true motivation, but has continued to do the job the he was elected to do. I don't know what inner strength he draws upon, but I have so much love and admiration for President Barack Obama and his beautiful family. If the world goes to hell after November, at least my children and grandchildren witnessed a great leader, a man among men.

Very well stated. He is a National Treasure, no doubt about that. The other side hates him for being so special. They have nobody on their team fit to take his place. NOBODY.

You have said it perfectly here.

I do hope that sometime again during my lifetime I will again witness that same level of respect and responsibility.

When we see the president leave office next year, I bet that Chris Matthews actually cries on air. His eyes will be watery.

I cannot wait to see Pres Obama come out for the Dem nominee and things build so that the GOP nominee is just crushed by a tidal wave made up, in large part, of support for this current president.

I work in an inner city school district and I cannot imagine better role models for my students than President Obama and his family. He has proven that a person of color, coming from a non-traditional family and challenging circumstances, can work hard and accomplish great things, while maintaining an exceptional level of integrity.

  9. I want the man to have a well-earned peaceful life beginning next year, and yet I would also like to see him in some sort of public role advocating for the *people* of this country as he has been doing for the past eight years. A national community organizer, if you will.

(Republicans sneer at the idea of a community organizer because it is an incredible tool in helping the least powerful among us to take back the power and control of their lives from those who would marginalize them.)

I so respect President Obama, VP Biden and their wives! Class acts - all of them!

There is no comparison as to the idiots we are currently watching in the Republican party trying to get the nod to run for POTUS!

Trump is like another Hitler. Rubio is giving back to Trump which is getting under his skin and is fun to watch.

More negative is coming out FINALLY about the history and lies of Donald Trump. The obese jerk would be a horrid POTUS and would NOT represent us well around the world.

President Obama, on the other hand, is liked, respected and admired throughout the world! We are so going to miss him and are fortunate to have had him as our President for two terms! His communication skills are outstanding, he has displayed having common sense time and time again throughout his almost completed second term and he is brilliant! Plus, he sings beautifully, danced wells and has a terrific sense of humor! Especially loved when he creamed The Donald at that Correspondence Dinner! President Obama has great delivery and timing w/his humorous statements too!

I'm glad I voted for him both times and look forward to he and Michelle visiting Alaska sometime after his second term has expired. He loved our state and people! We'll give them ANOTHER warm and happy welcome!

Sister sarry sneered at Obama, trying to compare her newbie guv credentials to his community organizer cred. Where would we be if she and the sadly spinless John McCain had prevailed. Todd would have been VP, and she would have been holed up in the VP house munching Taco Bell.

I was in middle school in Georgia when Carter was elected and I loved him out of loyalty. I have always held the office of President in high esteem and accorded it great respect, regardless of the quality of person sitting in the oval office. But, I have never felt toward any elected official the way I feel about Pres Obama. My respect for him individually, not just for the office he holds, is tremendous. My pride in the way he has conducted his administration, how he handled the horrible treatment from the right, is without measure. I feel a personal connection to this man whom I have never met. I don't know of any person who could have managed the past 7 years with the grace and cool-headedness that he has, much less still manage to achieve the numerous steps forward for this country that he did! I am immensely proud of my president, as I have never been before. I just hope that one day, I can say that again.

I absolutely love President Obama. I wish he could have a third term, and one which Senate and Congress would work with him to accomplish things. However, it isn't going to happen, and Hillary will not be Obama's third term (despite her claim that she loves everything Obama). I am seriously concern that we will lose this election, which never should happen. Having a longer primary could help the Democrats, if they had more debates (free air time to discuss issues), the dem numbers are way down in the primaries, but the gop numbers are very, very high -like 70% more than normal. The fact is people do not get excited about keeping the status quo. They may want it, but they are not going to fight for more of the same. This is the Dems problem, because even if you blame those who do not vote-everyone has to live with the consequences. Hillary needs to find a way to get the vote out. There has been a long list of Presidents which I have said, "I can't believe Americans elected this guy"--and I am terrified that we will be saying it again after Hillary and the DNC loses this election. Debbie didn't do Hillary any favors by trying to reduce the number of debates. If Hillary gets her delegate number early (with all of her Super delegates) it will hurt the Democratic party. It is best to get more people interested and to join together at the end. By telling everyone that Sanders can't win--they are suppressing people from being interested in even voting. Remember how long John Edwards stayed in (even with having a secret baby), there were a lot of Clinton, Obama, and Edwards supporters. We need to embrace all of the supporters from the Dem candidates, and not be trying to prematurely eliminate opposing viewpoints.

The GOP voters (or people wanting to say they are GOP) are coming out because they still have five candidates. We have two excellent candidates, and I frankly don't buy the numbers being out out there. I looked at some numbers from the 2012 primaries, there has not been a 70% increase in GOP votes. We are supporting Dems. Hillary supporters will support Bernie--although from what I read, Bernie supporters are not so into staying the course that they will say they will vote for Hillary. Talk to them. Hillary will be the nominee, and she will be a fantastic President. The Dem-GOP debates will get people out. Once they can see how idiotic the GOP has become, no way will they want that in the WH. And we are having more debates...the numbers are very similar. The difference is that the GOP is having hateful slugfests, and Hilary and Bernie are debating. It's all good.

I'll miss everything about him and his family. Saw this video and one of a lady who's over a hundred years old, petitioned to meet the POTUS, and won. She danced with Potus and Flotus and still had her wits about her.
I have a feeling he's destined for better things, and after a well deserved break, we'll see him again. So proud to have voted twice for this compassionate man, not ONE scandal, and he's done his best to do his best for all of us.
    There just aren't enough superlatives.

The point that both Capehart and Maddow are desperately trying to make is that Democrats are is serious electoral trouble in November. As this column noted to incredible criticism and hostility just last week, because Republican voters, with all their faults, will turn out in record numbers to vote for whichever candidate is the eventual nominee, Democrats had better unite, register voters, or weep when a Republican wins the White House.

So as not to incur the wrath of any candidate or their passionate acolytes, or give the appearance of having a wrong opinion, taking sides, leveling criticism, or being biased, most of this little screed is a simple report about what two once-respected liberal journalists recently said. They are “once-respected” now because they lost the support and respect of some Democrats for doing what they are paid to do; having and expressing the “wrong” opinion.

    In Jonathan Capehart’s article titled “A Warning To Warring Democrats In the Clinton-Sanders Race,” he wrote;

These 2 terms have gone by incredibly fast. Bush* dragged on and on and on and on ... I wish things could have been differently for President Obama. If he had a workable Congress, if the RWNJ's nutjobs behaved themselves, if Fox and the RW media told truths instead of lies, misinformation, or distotions, the President could have gotten much more accomplished. As it is, he quietly got plenty done. He's not a braggert or a showboat. He's a good man. Strong, down to earth, loving family man, good husband and father. Pensive. Is no cowboy. Thinks before he reacts, listens to others, can politely dish it back out when necessary. Talented. Oh, hell, he's a dream president and I'm going to miss him like hell. He's a member of my favorite president team. Not necessarily in order: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, and Barack Obama. Oh, how I would love to have them over for a week's vacation. Wouldn't that be a gas?

Oh yea, one of my favorite Obama moments was the luncheon he had with the Republicans over the Affordable Healthcare Act. Oooooh, boy, he took them down one by one with facts and figures from the top of his head. Pissed them off royally. Oh was that fun. It was so good, Fox News, broke away from that televised luncheon. Hahaha, loved it!
