Jimmy Kimmel "mansplains" to Hillary Clinton what she is doing wrong as a candidate.

I'm not going to lie partway through this I was becoming irritated on Hillary's behalf, even though I knew  she must have agreed to it beforehand.

Then when I got to the end I realized what they were doing and it was brilliant.

One thing that can be said about Hillary Clinton, she is certainly a good sport.

Can we stop it with the sexist term "mansplain"? There's already a perfectly good, non-sexist term called "being a blowhard". Otherwise, I guess anytime Hillary gets worked up over anything we can say she's letting her "Femotions" show.

4:38 PM The whole idea of this skit on Kimmel was to show how Hillary, as a female candidate, has to deal with mansplaining.

    2. "Being a blowhard" is a phrase, not a "term." So, no.

Mansplaining has a very specific context. It's not the same thing as getting worked up.

But thanks for mansplaining what we should be calling it.

"Mansplaining" as a term perfectly displays the embedded sexism in the practice. Yes, the term "mansplain" is sexist because the action described by the term is sexist and oppressive!

I have a very strong hunch that Gryphen has done far more than his fair share of mansplaining in his life. BTW your numbers here are so damn high lately, what's up with that?

    1. Well the thing that makes this bit so good is that the things Kimmel says are verbatim the kinds of criticisms that Hillary gets all of the time.

And also verbatim the kinds of criticisms we intelligent women get routinely, as a matter of course. Our worth to most men is entirely based on our appearance.

In Australia we've taken it a step further: our ponderous conservative Prime Minister (Malcolm) loves to talk down to us- naturally we call it Malsplaining.

Kimmel did a masterful and funny job demonstrating the crap to which Hillary is subjected.

I saw the NBC early news team report on this. The woman loved it. The man didn't seem to get it but, contributing to the problem, commented to the effect that the Kimmel bit helped humanize Hillary.

That was a great skit, very funny; Hillary is a good sport, contrary to what some may think. Previously she's shown this same side of her on SNL. She'll make a great President.

I agree Balzafiar...However one thing rang true to me from the skit is when Jimmy asked Hillary to not speak so loud. I feel like every candidate is yelling their message and their voices have become really irritating. Sometimes just need to turn it off!

...The truth behind the rumor-mongering, however, is a little more complex. A half-dozen GOP operatives and media figures tell The Daily Beast that Cruz’s opponents have been pushing charges of adultery for at least six months now—and that allies of former GOP presidential hopeful Marco Rubio were involved in spreading the smears.

For months and months, anti-Cruz operatives have pitched a variety of #CruzSexScandal stories to a host of prominent national publications, according to Republican operatives and media figures. The New York Times, The Washington Post, Bloomberg News, Politico, and ABC News—reporters at all those outlets heard some version of the Cruz-is-cheating story. None of them decided to run with rumors. Those publications’ representatives all declined to provide on-the-record comments when The Daily Beast reached out for this article.

I have noticed though, that the people with the power are condecending to those they feel are below them in hierarchy to "keep them in their place" - men do it to women, white men do it to everyone else. They did the smae thing to President Obama - called him uppity, elitist, aloof....

No, I didn't just now notice. And no, I am not. "Mansplaining" implies that it is about sexism. I was merely pointing out that it is not necessarily about sexism but about power. And you would have read that in my comment if you weren't so intent on an opportunity for snark.

I'm not a beer drinker, but I'd love to sit down with Hillary Clinton over a cup of tea or a glass of iced tea or maybe a glass of wine. She's an amazingly accomplished woman and it would be a delight to talk with her - about the issues and about life in general.

I love the disciplined way she didn't crack up even though she was giggling on the inside. Perhaps all those years of having to address unfriendly foreigners gave her the discipline to leave her own feelings out of it.

No update from Sarah? What's the deal? too much news regarding Track's arrest, Track's reduction in visitation to his child and Bristol's ongoing saga with Dakota. Not enough room in the headlines for Sarah?

Loved this. You know how you watch anything with Donald and then your' stomach starts churning because the crap that spills out of his little tweety bird mouth is just not what the real America is about. Maybe, we can solve the problem and find a place for Donald to rule in his despotic ways here on earth? Too bad for him George R. Martin's game of thrones is all fictional because Donald would fit in nicely.

I loved the clip because it shows that she's learned well over all these years, not to allow the criticisms just based on her gender.
It brought me back to the Governor's convention, when Sarah was ten months pregnant with her grift from God, sitting next to Janet Napolitano, speaking of Hillary's "Any perceived whine in a female candidate's voice is taken as a sign of weakness", in the most shrillest voice ever, while scratching he ankles, digging for toe jam and popping right up in her chair. Someone should have tried sarasplaining what a nutjob she is, but then she has no sense of embarrassment nor shame.
