Nancy Reagan may be gone but her sharp words concerning Sarah Palin and the current crop of GOP nominees linger on.

Courtesy of People:

"She remained as sharp as ever and was aware of just about everything going on in Washington and in politics, but always was interested in knowing more," says Woodruff. "I'll never forget the time we spoke in 2008 just after the Republican nominee for president, Senator John McCain, had chosen Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate. I spoke with Mrs. Reagan on the phone, and her first comment was, 'What in the world was he thinking in picking that woman?' "

King adds that Mrs. Reagan was not at all pleased with the current crop of Republican candidates. "She was very disappointed in the [current] Republican nominees," he says.

"She said she was embarrassed by what she was seeing."

I may not have agreed with her politics, but you have to admire her ability to judge people.

Yes, embarrassing. The make America trash and classless, is alive on the trump stage. It is pathetic. That sour puss and his thugs do not belong in this election. Pure trash and classless. Frump and his unlawful unconstitutional sheriff departments must be exposed and held accountable for the lude acts they commit daily.

Agreed. Can you imagine if this thug ever stole the WH? Police brutality would be cheered even more than now. He'd have his own "Trump shirts' vigilantes sniffing out people who dared disagree with him. I thought Cruz would be the worst possible choice, but I do think he'd follow existing laws (until he got them rewritten.) The only silver lining here is that Democrats are more engaged than they have been since 2008, and that can only mean goods things.

Mrs Reagan's stock just went up a few points with me.

I still firmly believe that if Saint Ronnie himself were running, he'd be one of ones polling at 4% and dropping out in disgrace after losing South Carolina. Today's Republicans would eat him alive

Today, Reagan wouldn't even get as high as 4%. As governor of California, he supported gay activist Harvey Milk in the effort to defeat Proposition 6 (teachers could be fired for being gay or lesbian, or for publicly supporting homosexuality.)

It was defeated in large part because of Reagan's efforts.

Eat him alive? Yes, after they'd sliced, diced and pureed him....

O/T, but just finished watching Rachel's interview with Elizabeth Warren and replay of Warren's speech on the Senate floor about Republican obstruction of an Obama SCOTUS nominee. Just about had a spontaneous political-gasm. Wow, just wow!!!

  7. Its ok that Nancy thought Palin was atrocious, Sarah is tethering herself to Trump who might be even more atrocious than Palin---kinda.

If Nancy Reagan voted for McCain/Palin she is part of the problem.

This close to the convention, they all say they will support the GOP nominee, no matter who it is.

If Trump is the GOP nominee, it'll be a 180 for those few republicans speaking out now. There is NO defending even being a republican these days. They are not real American patriots in my book.

What was McCain thinking? Yes, it would be good to know that. At the time, speculation was that he wanted Liberman. And that McCain was coerced into accepting Palin. Coerced how? by whom? I have yet to see someone like Steve Schmidt comment on that with any detail and credibility.Game Change did not go there. Will it ever come out? Once again, was it duplicity/coercion or simply stupidity? I never thought McCain was that stupid.

3:42 AM McCain was coerced by Lowell 'Bud' Paxson to put one of his puppets(Sarah Palin) on the ticket. In fact, Sarah Palin's attorney(Thomas VAN Flein)was assisting Paxson. Isn't it strange that Trig was given 2 middle names 'VAN and PAXSON' after the 2 men who were instrumental in pushing Sarah's selection? If she could have, Sarah would have added Kristol's name. Does Vicki Iseman ring a bell as McCain's constant companion on trips? Iseman was a Paxson paid lobbyist. McCain's team warned him that his travel partner/Iseman was making him look bad.

I do remember the points you are making, but I wonder if you can let us have links to the sources. Not just for me, but for any decent reporter who might choose to discuss it.

9:25, please please google all those names which 8:30 listed.
You need to know who they are/were because for the most part, they're still players today in the scarah/conservative saga.
Also, know the Council for National Policy..a scary shadow group composed of conservative EXTREMIST billionaires who also helped choose scarah for mccain during a stopover at a Radisson in Minnesota.. Their membership is secret. Let that settle in...secret members chose the GOP Veep for the rest of America. Democracy?
Don't let them hide behind this supposed annonymity! Know the names, and tell others about what's going on right below the surface. Ten years ago, hell 15, did you even know of the Kock brothers? I didn't. Olberman's show(that's how long ago) busted the Kock bro's repeatedly. No more anony Kock bros.

LOL now that's funny. Basically Mrs. Reagan just about called Sarah Palin a imbecile retard.

If you look at Sarah Palin's Facebook, Sarah is thanking Mrs. Reagan for her service blah blah blah Bullshit.

Ron and Nancy are having a great laugh courtesy of Sarah Palin's dysfunctional family.

Hey Sarah Palin did you plan on going to Nancy Reagan's funeral but decided to stay home after reading Immoral Minority's post about how Nancy Reagan felt about you?

The Reagans were polite in social settings. I wish she could have said more in public about the failed GOP and the clowns. She never liked John McCain yet she came out with support when he ran with Sarah Palin. She was a huge disappointment. I did not like many things about her but she had stuck with her principles on some of the bad characters she did not like. She was weakened when she came out with support for McCain/Palin.

Thank god for people like Elizabeth Glaser who kept at Ronnie and Nancy to get attention on the Pediatric Aids policies. That was something the Reagans could "support' because the victims were "acceptable" innocent bystanders: blood transfusion recipients and breastfed babies...not Teh Gays!!!
      Fuck them both.

I'd say it's pure irony that the woman who brought us Reagan is embarrassed by the current GOP field, but at least Ronnie was dignified and, mostly, knew his lines.

Check out Drunk History on Ronnie. Very funny stuff.

Why Wasn't Michael Reagan at Nancy Reagan's Funeral?

First Lady Michelle Obama was there, sitting next to President GWBush, so President Obama WAS represented. Why wasn't her stepson at her funeral? Because Ronnie married up, and you were a Reagan by adoption. Question answered? The "We were in Asia" excuse doesn't sound kosher, Wyman?

So that vulgar valley trash got mentioned in People afterall, I was waiting for her to post a facebook post making Nancy's funeral about Sarah and Saint Ronald Regan, and she could add old photos of her day at the ranch, photoshopped on a taxidermy horse with SarahPAC. Oh well, a dishonorable mention is better than nothing, I suppose.
RIP, Nancy. We didn't agree on much, but your love for your husband and kids was admirable and touching.

Sarah tried to pull a "nancy" when she attempted to keep all the designer fashions the RNC bought for the palins.
I remember nothing of the IRS investigation onto the Reagans in 1989-1992. I was a kid and so was the hubby. I read of the $3mill worth of clothes and jewelrey nance tried to keep, but didn't belong to her. It's all on her Wiki page. Shame on you reagans! What I DO remember at the time was family farm after family farm getting turned over to the banks! Couldn't stand these people then, can't stand em now.
