Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is targeting Hillary Clinton in a new ad, portraying the Democratic presidential candidate as not tough enough to handle major foreign policy issues.
A 15-second video posted to Trump's Instagram account shows Russian President Vladimir Putin showing off his martial arts skills and a masked militant pointing a gun at the camera.
"When it comes to facing our toughest opponents, the Democrats have the perfect answer," the video says, cutting to a clip of Clinton barking like a dog last month when she taunted Republicans.
Putin cracks up in Trump's video before text appears back on screen, stating, "We don't need to be a punchline!"
You know the part that cracks me up is that the favorite political punchline of late night comics everywhere is trying to insinuate that Hillary Clinton is the one people are openly mocking.
It also did not escape my notice that Trump's misogyny found its way into the advertisement (You Hillary Clinton is barking like a dog, female dogs are bitches. you get it.), and I imagine we will see it quite frequently moving forward.
Of course the problem with that approach is that it reinforce every negative thing people see in Donald Trump and will rally Hillary supporters like nothing else.
By the way if you are like me you have undoubtedly wondered just why in the hell there was video of Hillary barking for Trump to use in his ad.
I found the answer in this video from last month where Hillary is talking about an old campaign ad and making a salient point about the Republican candidates.
The lesson to be learned here is that Donald Trump ALWAYS plays dirty, and he is going to throw every ugly thing he can at Hillary Clinton in the general.
That is why she is the perfect candidate to face him in November. Everything he throws at her she has already proven herself immune to multiple times in the past.
