Hillary Clinton releases new ad in preparation for today's primary.

Courtesy of CBS News:

In her closing ad before Tuesday's East Coast primaries in five states, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton is looking past the primaries with a message of unity.

Her new ad, "Love and Kindness," presents a positive message of coming together and protecting each other--a sign she is beginning to move toward unifying Democrats behind her candidacy for the general election.

"Let's break down barriers so we can all rise together," the ad says, in text running across the screen over footage of Clinton speaking and meeting supporters. "Do all the good we can in all the ways we can for all the people we can."

You probably saw Gabby Giffords in the advertisement, and this is what she is saying about Hillary and why she supporters her on mailers going out in Connecticut:

“Time and time again, Hillary Clinton has done and said what is right, not what is politically expedient,” Giffords says on the mailers. “She is the only candidate I trust to stand up to the corporate gun lobby’s intimidation and bullying.”

Of course Connecticut, where that terrible Sandy Hook massacre took place, is one of the states holding primaries today. So clearly this message is tailored to them specifically.

However I think that the message of improving gun control laws, and working to keep military style weapons out of the hands of dangerous individuals, is one that resonates with ALL progressives.

I have mentioned in the past that I am not particularly inspired by Hillary Clinton as a rule, but her  courage in putting gun control front and center in her campaign is something that certainly gets my attention.

President Obama has said that one of his biggest frustrations as President was his failure to pass "common sense gun safety laws."

Will Hillary Clinton be any more successful?

Who knows, but at least she is willing to make it a priority. And that is certainly more than any other candidate has been willing to do.

I really respect Hillary. She has been through the fire time and time again, and come out stronger every time. Is she a bit too hawkish? Yes, but we will never have a perfect candidate.

"Clinton is being hypocritical. She made Sanders’s exact argument in April 2008, when she was running against Obama in Pennsylvania: “What might work in New York City is certainly not going to work in Montana,” she said. “So for the federal government to be having any kind of, you know, blanket rules that they’re going to try to impose, I think doesn’t make sense.”

What is Sanders even doing? Won't help the Democrats, that's for sure. http://www.shakesville.com/2016/04/what-is-sanders-even-doing-again.html

Bernie leans forward because he has an epic Mr. Burns hunchback. He's stuck in the past on gun control and women's issues.

  4. Right on, Hillary Clinton. She is so tough and determined some people forget, or don't realize, the depth of her compassion. She's been working tirelessly, and courageously, for the rights and well being of women and other humans for decades. And we are fortunate she's willing to continue to do so.

Hillary Clinton is essential for my granddaughters" lives. She will see that they are protected from a pregnancy by rape or incest, that they will have access to birth control pills which the GOP wants halted.

Additionally, the morning after pill will not go away under her watch. It is not the same as abortion because we know the attachment to the uterine wall by a potential embryo doesn't happen for up to five days, so there is no there "there" when the morning after pill is used.

Education and common sense is in short supply in both men and GOP when it comes to women and their complicated lives.

Hillary will have the backs of all women even if she is not in sync with every other cause.

A presidential campaign ad that featured only women's voices. That's kind of cool.

More bullshit from Gryphen, as Hillary has NEVER said that gun control will be one of her "priorities". She has said she will "take a look at it" which is a helluva LONG way from being a priority. The woman has yet to say anything is a priority nor has she come out with anything she stands for. NOTHING. "Love and Kindness" may be all good a touchy feely but it doesn't mean shit. "Love and Kindness" is not taking a stance it's just more of the same old run around. C'mon Billary, why can't you come up with ONE thing you stand for? Try coming up with just ONE thing you believe in and go from there.

Why is that too much to ask from a presidential candidate? Everyone knows where Bernie stands, where Trump stands etc. Then we have Hillary who won't take a stand on anything but by gosh she will look at stuff. The country deserves better than any of these sorry ass posers

I wonder how she will recommend to take care of the hundreds of thousands of assault weapons already out there? How will she get rid of them?
If she will make them illegal, whichever way that might be, you can bet there will be a revolution from those knuckleheads like Track PayMe. They will NOT voluntarily or otherwise give up their penis extenders w/o a fight!

That's a very powerful and moving ad.

I don't think I've ever said that about a political ad.

    Thanks Gryph!
