Hillary Clinton responds to charges by top aide to Bernie Sanders that her ambition might "destroy the Democratic party."

Hillary often gets criticized for her laugh, but in this case I thought it was well justified.

Here are the comments that Hillary was responding to courtesy of The Hill:

A top aide to Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders warned late Tuesday that rival Hillary Clinton is running a divisive campaign that is hurting party unity.

"Don't destroy the Democratic Party to satisfy the secretary's ambitions to become president of the United States," Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver told CNN.

"We want to have a party at the end of this that we can unify," he added.

This is an amazing statement.

First off Bernie Sanders is NOT a Democrat, he is simply cloaking himself in democratic camouflage in order to run in our primary.

Secondly MANY of Sanders' supporters are also not Democrats and, as many have claimed, may not even vote along party lines if Sanders does not win the nomination.

And thirdly, for all intents and purposes Hillary and Bill Clinton ARE the Democratic party in the eyes of many of us who lived through the 1990's and the Clinton administration.

Yes President Obama has helped to reshape the party platform to some degree, but the heart of the Democratic party still beats to the same rhythm it did when Bill and Hillary occupied the White House.

To put it simply Hillary Clinton IS the Democrat in this race.

And as much as we may agree with him on many of his ideas, Bernie Sanders is not.

Bernie has a coat tail problem. Without lots of down ticket victories, the Congress will be in position to deadlock Bernie for 4 years.

Hillary might also be deadlocked, but she will cope with it better than Bernie.

I was for Bernie "on the surface" but once I dig down deeper and look to the future, I have recently switched to Hillary. You are absolutely right. As we already see, it's not just important we elect a democratic President, but look at what all these STATES are doing. It has become JUST as important, if not becoming MORE important to also ensure that down ticket candidates represent democratic/progressive platforms.

I'm not a Democrat. Bernie is not a Demcrat, but at least I understand the importance of down-ticket elections. I also don't like how smarmy he and his supporters are getting.

As much as I hate a 2 year primary cycle, it does give time fan all the smoke out from behind the mirrors for each candidate.

I think Hillary can turn Texas blue and I think Hillary can keep New Mexico blue. Bernie can't do either of those two things, also primaries and caucuses are not necessarily a true indication of the outcome in any state. Caucuses, even in blue states have a majority of whites and not a true percentage of the society in that state and lots of people do not vote in primaries. And I do think Hillary could turn Arkansas blue, they like her.

      Delete
    6. Anonymous7:30 PM

What is the total number, not percentages, of voters for each of the two Democratic candidates? Caucuses have been won by Bernie something like 8 of 10 but fewer total number of people participate in caucuses. And in open primaries Republicans can register as Democrats and play party chaos games to screw with the numbers.

And then when Barack won the election, he offered her the SOS position in complete recognition and acknowledgement of what he believed at the time she had to offer in experience and relationships around the world, and, as well, an eye on bringing the party together. I've never been a huge Hillary fan but I do know she would fight to death for women and their rights.
For awhile I wasn't concerned about the possibility of a gotp win in this election as women are the biggest voting block in the country. I now realize there is a rather large group of women, primarily gotp, who are perfectly happy living like a trump wife. A bought and paid for "v" and baby vessel who is fine with being the little woman with no opinion as long as she has her lord & taylor credit card active. And of course the other bunch who get their teeth knocked out if they defy their lord and master aka husband/partner.

Bernie Sanders Says Hillary Clinton Is Not “Qualified” to Be President

Boy, that escalated quickly. Speaking at a Pennsylvania rally on Wednesday night, Bernie Sanders suggested that Hillary Clinton is not “qualified” to be president, the sharpest attack the Vermont senator has unleashed on his Democratic rival this year, and one that came hours after she refused to say whether she thought he was prepared for the job.

“She has been saying lately that she thinks that I am quote unquote not qualified to be president,” the Vermont senator told a 10,000-strong crowd at Temple University in Philadelphia. "I don't believe that she is qualified if she is, through her super PAC, taking tens of millions of dollars in special-interest funds.”...

Clinton allies blast Sanders 'qualified' remarks

Hillary Clinton's campaign and allies wasted little time ripping into Bernie Sanders on Thursday after the Vermont senator told a roaring crowd in Philadelphia on Wednesday night that if his opponent thinks he is not qualified to be president, neither is she.

“That’s a pretty extraordinary claim. She’s probably among the very best qualified candidates to run for this office," Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee and a Clinton backer, told CNN's "New Day."

Clinton, Schiff added, "was just an extraordinary secretary of state. She has broad experience. I think she’ll make a tremendous commander in chief. I don’t think people will take that very seriously.”

While remarking that it is Sanders' right to raise any appropriate issues or past Senate votes, as he has done in particular with her 2002 vote as a senator to authorize the use of force in Iraq, Schiff called it "an extraordinary characterization to say those are disqualifying characteristics."

"Frankly, I’m much more concerned this week with what I heard Senator Sanders say on the gun issue," said Schiff, who expressed dismay at recent comments Sanders made in an interview with the New York Daily News editorial board.

Clinton's campaign immediately hit back at Sanders' comments on Wednesday evening.

"Hillary Clinton did not say Bernie Sanders was 'not qualified.' But he has now - absurdly - said it about her. This is a new low," press secretary Brian Fallon tweeted. In another message, he wrote, "Facing long odds, Sanders is inventing grievances & nonexistent paths to the nomination to rile his supporters & keep fundraising spigot on."....

    Just a few questions . . .

For the life of me, I still cannot understanding why "Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat" is an argument. It's illogical, whiney and similar to a spoiled child throwing a tantrum because things aren't going their way. Since a third option was not wanted, then logically, Sanders had to choose to run as Democratic or Republican. That was what the DNC agreed to BEFORE anyone even knew he was running. Now, it's a problem because no one ever expected him to win?! I call bullshit on your argument and stand behind my earlier prediction that Clinton would start crumbling once Sanders started pulling an Obama on her.

For a country full of choices, why is it that we only have two parties running? I have seen an all-out assault issued on candidates that are not Republican or Democratic. That sends a message that no other opinions are welcomed in their exclusive, discriminatory and oppressive clubs. Enough people are freeing themselves of the failures both the Democratic and the Republican parties -- two antiquated business models -- currently represent. I, personally, resent the fact that no other party is encouraged to run and is discouraged and demonized for not towing a party line. That's oppressive and eerily similar to the same mindset of those who try to force their religion on others.

I grew up during the Clinton Administration as well, but I also asked myself one logical question. Does the Republican or the Democratic parties of today represent me? The answer is Hell No!

So, a good business decision on Mr. Sanders part was to follow the rules of the Democratic National Party and insert himself and all the constituents he represents into a race that does not welcome us. You know – make lemonade (i.e. See Bernie wins Wisconsin)

Sorry you don't consider my points of view important. But your dismissive and condescending tone is backfiring -- like telling your "innocent" daughter not to date the bad boy. It's also a sad and hypocritical testament of the so-called Democratic big tent spiel if your key argument is that "he's not one of us." So, keep doing what you do. It’s getting folks that never voted before motivated enough to get involved in the democratic voting process -- proving that "we, the other people" have a voice that is now loud enough to be heard.

    Just sayin’

We think Bernie isn't a Democrat because Bernie himself says he isn't.
AS for"growing up in the Clinton Admin", lucky you since it was the best climate for prosperity this country had seen in decades.
AS for arguments against Bernie Sanders here are my main points ( you actually didn't give any for your candidate of choice, I am more than willing to read them if you do)

He is a misogynist and has been for yrs, he has stated in the last 2 weeks that women's issues and reproductive rights "are not important", now when I grew up and birth control was unavailable without your husbands permission or your fathers and don;t think women need to go back to that, let alone notbeing able to get an abortion if wanted/ or needed ( yes women died when they couldn't get abortions to save their lives).
Secondly, Bernie Sanders is a poor father and in fact was a dead beat Dad, I think a man/ or woman that refuses to raise/support their own child really isn't someone I can depend upon.
Thirdly, for the last 50 yrs Bernie Sanders has been unable to get along with anyone and he has not accomplished anything in well over 20 yrs in congress/Senate, he has dome nothing/authored no key legislation.
THen Bernie has even admitted he has no clue about foreign policy because he "just hasn't thought about it yet" that is not someone I trust to lead our country and it certainly points that he is not competent enough to lead.

Now as for your never voted, every 4 yrs there is a candidate that that gets people to vote, ask anyone alive in the Kennedy yrs, look to President Obama. And to "someone who grew up in the 90's" maybe it's time for you to understand that not everyone is going to think like you do, nor like the candidate you do. And as for your"voice" everyone has the same "voice" it's called a vote.

BTW if Bernie has motivted so many people I would suggest to you to think about why he didn't run as an Independent since the only base argument you gave in his favor was not liking the 2 party system. He did it for $$$$$$$$$ and nothing more, he has since registered as an independent voter.
But please give some actual "points" besides whining about the 2 party majority system and I will read them.
