A Texas-based “values” group is blasting a number of major American companies for having the nerve to demand equal rights for LGBT people.
Texas Values called Apple, Disney, Intel and the NCAA “corporate bullies” for pressuring Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) into vetoing a bill that would have allowed discrimination against LGBT people.
A number of companies spoke out against the bill; Disney also threatened a boycott, saying it would stop filming in the state if the bill became law.
In response, Texas Values claimed the companies had “declared war“ on religion:
"It’s striking that the day after Easter, churches in Georgia are told their freedoms are not that important to protect. It’s clear that corporate giants like Apple, Disney, NCAA, Intel have finally come out of the closet and declared public war on the religious freedom of clergy and religious schools, as was the protection in Georgia’s very modest HB 757 that they worked to bring down."
So I guess, according to these folks, that if you embrace Jesus's teachings that you should love your fellow man, that means you are attacking Christianity.
I swear, I will never understand religion.
Not sure this will post. Hope so.
ReplyDeleteReligion as defined by those Domionists is about power, keeping people afraid and in the dark, and demonizing the "other" for fun and profit. Christian supremacists won't ever acknowledge anyone else's right to exist, as they, and ONLY they are the Twue citizens of the USA.
At least that's been my experience.
Visit the pee pond on any given day and you'll see it in action!
DeleteNotice to all bible thumpers: Your religious freedoms do not supercede my civil rights.
ReplyDeleteAren't the "values" crowd always crowing about their love of the Constitution?
ReplyDeleteThey want it both ways. Can't be done. Holding opposing thoughts in their heads is just asking for a brain stroke. Good thing Obamacare will be there to treat them. Or Medicare or Medicade...damn socialism! (No wonder they are angry. They know they are wrong.)
DeleteJoin a religion, and spread the hate.
ReplyDeleteNot all folks who are religious practice hate. For example, the United Church of Christ is an open and affirming church - meaning no matter where you are on life's journey you are welcome. And (gasp) they practice what their lord Jesus preached. UCC had gay preachers as far back as the eighties. The head of American United for the Separation of Church and State is an UCC minister (Dr Lynn).
DeleteI attend a UCC church as a pagan for the community and the cookies. Nothing beats church lady cookies in my opinion.
THIS IS REALITY>

When did Christians become such pussies? WTF is wrong with these people?
ReplyDeleteI went to an uber,uber-religious Catholic college (parents' insistence). With two of the people who went there and got married, the woman divorced the man and petitioned for annulment because he took a job working for Disney.
ReplyDeleteThey had three children at the time. Great family values, huh?
Based on that statement, the Texas Values group sound like a bunch of drama queens. If they have such strong "Christian" values then why the hell didn't they stand up for the LGBT community and stop the Gov from allowing this discrimination bill in the first place?
ReplyDeleteThese people wonder why their numbers are dwindling and church attendance is declining at a rapid pace, yet all they have to do is look within!! Normal people don't want to associate with those who have a hateful message!
Keep it up Texas Values, you're only hurting yourselves! And good luck trying to stop your kid from seeing the next Star Wars movie!! LMAO!!
Religion was born, and the devil danced.
ReplyDeleteGood...I would love to see shorter lines at Disneyland!
ReplyDeleteDo they realize they support Donald Duck, who hangs out with his three nephews with no pants on all the time? What a bunch of brainwashed sick people! Were Micky and Minnie ever married? But can't have "teh gays"! Pluto might start fucking Goofy, and we'll have none of that!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhenever I read things like this, I check my portfolio and add the ones supporting my causes, haven't let me down yet!!!!!
If you can't feel victimized and under attack all the time and there is nothing to fear and no one to hate, that could really be bad for churches.
