Having a little trouble telling the Bernie Sanders supporters from the Trump supporters.

Okay do these people really think this is helping?

It's called Democracy and it's a good thing.

It's better than just ignoring the glaring problems with Hillary: namely her buddy-buddy relationship with Wall St and her close ties to the .01% & tax cheats & tax evaders found in the Panama Papers as well as other contributors to the Clint Foundation. (god, remember how pissed we all were when Bill pardoned Mark Rich as he was leaving the White House?)

Or are you suggesting we just ignore any faults she has lest her husband's golf partner gets elected instead?

they don't care about all the corruption, lying, cheating. Just so their Hillary wins. They called others all kinds of names, called Jane Sanders a bitch right on this blog. Democracy is dead , if you don't go along with what they want because only they know what you need . They want same same old same old, NAFTA and other trade deals to take the rest of the crappy jobs.

It's not right to call Jane Sanders a bitch just like it's not right to call Hillary Clinton a bitch (which Sanders supporters have called her right on this blog).

      Democracy isn't dead.

Although you wouldn't know if listening to Sanders who thinks we should ignore the votes of the people and have the Superdelegates declare him the candidate because all the dumb minorities and women don't know what's good for them.

First of all, Baby Jane is a bitch.
And it seems Barney's supporters know nothing about him except the "new" image his people have slapped on him for this run, too bad they couldn't get him to buy a decent suit and some clothes for Baby Jane ( I suppose he thought the DNC would do that).
He lies and lies, his record is nothing and oh, I am still waiting for those tax returns of his and his first wife, scratch that...his gf that he had when he had his first wife is still waiting for child support.

Do you think Hillary will try to keep us out of war? Her so-called foreign policy “experience” has been to support every war demanded by the U.S. deep security state run by the military and the CIA...
OK she's still better for the US than any repub would be.

HUh, 9:30? WTH are you talking about? He was married for two years in his twenties. Divorced. Three years later, he had a kid (he was 28 she was supposedly of similar age. They weren't married, but he and his now 46 year old son are friends it appears - son onstage with dad and grandkids. Supported same kid - he was NOT preaching abstinence to others, he's never denied the kid. Various articles and bios have made mistakes that Levi was his son with first wife. A big SO WHAT to it all.

Now, Jane's shenanigans at Burlington and the loan fraud and the $2 million dollar severance package and any investments of theirs that might have benefited as a result - yeah, that I'd like to see. Start with the tax returns.

      WAy to whitewash Bernie's life.
Here's the real deal. Bernie got married and was still married ( 18 months into the marriage) when he got his GF knocked up.
He refused to work so he couldn't be forced to pay child support and only saw his own child a handful of times and demanded the child not call him Dad but Bernard. And while he may have some sort of friendshp with his child as an adult that does not change the facts he was married when his gf got knocked up nor the fact he never supported or took care of( I am all for Dad's being the primary caregiver) and the tax payers had to support his own child that he refused to.
No he did not support his child, ever. So yes, I do think being a deadbeat parent speaks directly to someone's character or lack there of.

We should leave the inter-party fighting to the Republicans. Let them have a divided house that falls.

We Dems have a President to elect, a Senate to take back and possibly win back the House.

What I like about Hillary is she has done a lot of fund raising for the down ballot elections. Bernie has not lifted one finger to help with down ballot elections.

Bernie talks while Hillary walks. Actions speak much louder than words.

So far the email issue is the major issue people have with Hilary. Does anyone else remember all the emails that were deleted by Cheney and his gang of thugs as they left office? Where was the outrage then? Where is the anger at everyone else who used a private server? I'm smelling a lot of double standards here and they stink.

It was said in a previous comment - Bernie talks the talk but Hilary walks the walk. She is not perfect and honestly I'm not all the fond of her personally. Not sure why white comes into the picture. Yes, I'm of the pasty variety of human but trust me, I'm not looking to vote for someone who "looks like me". There is no 'like me' so far. If there were, a lack of empathy would not be the world's problem right now.

CO status did not stop anyone from being drafted, many CO's served many fucntions at home and in VN while they were CO's. From medics to other healthcare jobs, to logistics, to supply.
Bernie's did not go to Cnada because his number was never drawn until after he had a child and was a few yrs older and not in danger of being drafted.
Now his first marriage did protect him from one round ( that his number never came up for) but he was never drafted so your illusion that his CO status was some brave thing is beyond ridiculous. If you don't believe me please ask someone who was alive during the draft and they can explain how it worked to you.

    This is getting tiresome.

In a Friday letter, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) accused Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz of stacking committees at the July national convention with supporters of Hillary Clinton.

Sanders lamented to Wasserman Schultz that the DNC only nominated three of the more than 40 people he recommended to sit on the standing committees, and the DNC did not appoint any Sanders picks to the key Rules Committee.

"I believe the composition of the standing committees must reflect the relative support that has been received by both campaigns," Sanders wrote in the letter. "That was why I was so disappointed to learn that of the over forty people our campaign submitted at your request you chose to select only three of my recommendations for the three standing committees. Moreover, you did not assign even one of the people submitted by our campaign to the very important Rules Committee of the Democratic National Convention."

Sanders wrote that the lack of representation for his supporters at the convention suggests that the Democratic Party "is not open to the millions of new people that our campaign has brought into the political process."

He also wrote that he was disappointed in the process for choosing members of the committee that drafts the Democratic Party platform at the convention, and he suggested that he and Clinton each recommend seven members of the committee and jointly select the committee chair.

"In our conversation, you told me with respect to the platform Drafting Committee that you would consider allowing each campaign to submit ten names from which you would choose four from each and then you would add an additional seven," he wrote. "While having four members on the Drafting Committee is an improvement, it does not address the fact that up to this point Bernie 2016 has secured 45% of the pledged delegates awarded. Frankly, we believe that percentage will go up in the coming weeks and, of course, we hope it will end up being a majority."

Sanders threatened to have his delegates attempt to make changes to the party platform and the convention rules at the July convention if the DNC does not address his grievances.

"It is my hope we can quickly resolve this in a fair way. If the process is set up to produce an unfair, one-sided result, we are prepared to mobilize our delegates to force as many votes as necessary to amend the platform and rules on the floor of the convention," he wrote.

The DNC responded to Sanders' letter in a Friday statement, according to Politico.

I used to really like Bernie Sanders. His comments and criticisms were right on target, IMO. But, since becoming a candidate I see someone who is very idealistic and focused on policies that I am convinced will work. Sure, I would love college tuition free and more jobs. Just because other countries have free tuition but they also have a different economic structure than the US. How much is free tuition going to cost and where is the money going to come from? Apparently from taxing the rich. The argument is that this should work in the US because it has worked in other countries. In a general election, how many Americans are going to go for this?
The Sanders admin with demand that the wealthy and large corporations pay their fair share of taxes. How, exactly? I love this idea but it's just not very realistic. Or rather, I don't think it's as easy as just telling them to stop what they're doing.
The list continues: Investing $5.5 billion in a youth jobs, Expanding Social Security, Guaranteeing healthcare, Requiring employers to provide at least 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave, Enacting a universal childcare and prekindergarten program, etc.
I want to see real numbers. I want to see how much is coming in and going out now and what is going to change in order to fulfill all of these promises.
If all of these things really can be realized then, great! I would love to see all of these things in place.
There is a breakdown here: https://berniesanders.com/issues/how-bernie-pays-for-his-proposals/
I don't see how this can be done without a significant increase in taxes.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies

It can't. There is data out there, and the middle class will pay significantly more in taxes were St. Bernie able to push even one of his ideas through a Congress that hates to allow Americans health care, safe roads and bridges, and clean air and water.

Bernie's tax plan raises everyone's taxes, even the lower income people who currently really don't pay taxes because they get what they paid in or more.
I wish I would have kept the link to when VOX had all the candidates tax plans and you could plug in any income.
My lowest paid relative at this point get's everything back and more and they would no longer get anything back of what they paid in and, in fact, would have most likely owed a couple hundred more. Mine would have doubled in the upper middle class income range under Bernie's tax plan.
You may be able to google VOX's article and get a link to plug in your income to check for yourself. Also, Gryphen did have a link to it in an article on this blog, you may be able to track it down that way easier.

The biggest problem with the ACA is self-employed people who make too much for subsidies. They pay exorbitant premiums with huge deductibles. How is this encouraging entrepreneurship?

Countries that have free college tuition also have tracking that begins at a much earlier age and good UNIONized trade jobs. They don't think everyone needs a college degree to get a decent job, and college isn't just job training.

Meh, over all, one from column A or from B. Either taxes or private services. Free tuition or pay for college. taxes or bad roads(which translates into higher car repair bills and more time on the roads.) Life isn't free - suck it up, buttercup.

The difference is that in countries where university and health care are free people don't worship money or respect people simply because they're wealthy. Their focus is on quality of life. The US has always been a dog-eat-dog society where the laws allow shysters to thrive. Sanders won't undo that, nobody will, it would take the whole country to change.

President Obama is in a tough spot....he has to be very careful and he will be throughout this process.

But, once Hillary Clinton is named the nominee - I'll bet he publically supports her 100%! He knows she's more than capable for the job where Trump doesn't have a friggin' clue!

What's inappropriate is your sexist fixation on women's looks. It's uncool to bay on and on about any political figure's appearance, but as long as you're doing it, it's especially telling that you're focusing on what his wife looks like and ignoring his own face.

Probably, but since you aren't running for office it's no different than when the Bernie Bros have called Hillary an ugly old fat hag and then now they finally realized that uglier hag Jane is fatter and older.
So now the "concern" Berns are getting upset with any comments about Jane's looks but can't seem to understand they set the tome already. BTW Hillary has taken that crap for decades and can handle it, but I doubt Baby Jane can.

It's way past time the media/journalists start dicing and splicing Bernie Sanders!

The guy is NOT a Democrat and he's purposefully dividing the party!

Ride his ass out of town on a fucking rail!

Hillary Clinton is superior to him in every way - especially as to experience, knowledge and knowing how to get things done. Check his history/background - he doesn't!

No, it is time for Hillary to concede the race. All the polls for months have been showing that she beats the Donald with a small margin compared to Sanders. Also, the independents favor Bernie 70 to 30 over Hillary.

Bernie has a stronger chance in the general election of defeating Trump, and he does not have to face the FBI which means he can focus 100% on campaigning and then holding office!

Check out Bernie's history right here:

That's some great democracy you have there, 11:49. Ignore the fact that Clinton has millions more votes than Sanders and declare him the winner. I though Sanders was all about the will of the people.

Strange that Bernie was never part of the Democratic Party, but joined in order to run for president under its banner and now, complains about the party policies. Those forty names he offered cause some issues. Are they newbie Democrats like Bernie? Have they been involved in the process in a meaningful way? Or are they spoilers? Somehow, I think Bernie's suggested members of the committee were offered in order to push his agenda for the transformation of the Democratic Party which is Bernie's goal all along.

If I were an advisor to Hillary Clinton, I'd suggest she go totally after Trump and drop ANY mention or emphasis on The Bern in the Ass!

He really is irrelevant and is just trying to split the Democratic party when he isn't even a Democrat! He's a jerk and only concerned about the continued recognition of he and his wife!

I'd like to go into a Sanders crowd and ask young women to reconcile the repulsive, perverted and dangerous things that Sanders wrote about women when he was in his thirties.

'Women with cervical cancer seem to be sexually maladjusted....'

Rachel is interviewing Bernie, what a doosie! The last part, especially. He was asked about the protesters at Hillary's event, screaming liar liar, etc. etc. He said he doesn't want his supporters interrupting outside, he doesn't want them disrupting, but doesn't mind them calling her names, carrying signs etc. outside. He also said he'd do anything in his power to not allow Trump to be potus.

  32. All of this makes me think Bernie's campaign may have been captured to a certain extent by anyone thinking his effort would ruin Clinton's chances. That would explain a lot of the violence. I think generally Bernie fans are more mellow than violent in nature.

I don't know what news report you've been reading about this story, but weren't the protesters LATINOS that were upset with HRC's attempts to assimilate their culture on Cinco de Mayo? Yet another instance of Hillary not understanding the "common man". Let's face it, Hillary is disconnected from the average citizen.
