Courtesy of HuffPo:the GOP is going to nominate for President a guy who reads the National Enquirer and thinks it's on the level. I'm with her.— Mark Salter (@MarkSalter55) May 3, 2016
Mark Salter, who served as chief of staff to Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and worked as an adviser on both of McCain’s presidential campaigns, says he’ll be supporting Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump this fall.
Salter, known as one of McCain’s closest confidants, tweeted Tuesday that he’s “with her,” a nod to Clinton’s campaign slogan.
The tweet came after Trump cited a National Enquirer story accusing Ted Cruz’s father, Rafael Cruz, of playing a role in John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Cruz’s campaign has dismissed the story as “garbage.”
I would not be at all surprised to learn that John McCain ends up voting or Hillary as well, along with a whole lot of Republicans who simply cannot imagine the stubby fingered vulgarian sitting in the Oval Office.
I am still not going to predict a blowout for Hillary in the general because I don't want Democrats to get cocky, but I will say that if it were to happen I would not be even a little surprised.
Watched the results last night & went to bed early since Cruz bailed so early. Refused to listen to Cruz & Fiorina's mewling or Trump's braying.
ReplyDeleteWoke up to several GOP pundits saying the new strategy would be to limit Hillary to one term & that NEXT time, they'd be ready with a REAL conservative candidate.
yeah, good luck with that.
Last Sunday, George Will wrote that many Republicans will do everything in their power to keep Trump from being President if he wins the nomination. Let's hope we all work together.
ReplyDeleteHoly cats, Gryph, check out her latest Facebook "time to unite" video. I can't stomach watching, but menopause and/or life has NOT been kind to her. YIKES.
ReplyDelete$arah, I mean.
DeleteSarah looks terrible in that video ... someone even asked if she has anything on under that leather jacket!
DeleteTrump gave her a shout out last night during his speech in Indiana (boring) and if 10 people clapped I would be surprised! I hope Trump lets her loose on all of us so we can see Hillary put her in her place...
I read some of the comments. Jesus here and God there blah blah.
DeleteReligion is the main reason there are so many stupid people in this country.
agree 100%, recently saw a perfect description: religion: inventing a disease and selling the cure
DeleteI think it's more meth than meno.
DeletePlain and her staff read the Enquirer regularly, and watched reality shows, that's what she aspires to. She felt going on the Charlie Rose show after she quit the Governorship signaled a success in her decision. So, Mark, and John, tell us again how and why you find Trump so objectionable?
DeleteI felt better today when a coworker raised in Korea, has been a US citizen for at least fifteen years told me how horrified she is that Trump could be the nominee. Considering her immigration I thought our country has a lot of immigrants so maybe they will not vote for Trump either because he is loudly anti immigrants.
ReplyDeleteAnother coworker said she fears Trump will start WWIII. She wondered who his VP would be and I suggested Sarah Palin. We laughed at that idea.
Yesterday was the first time anyone mentioned this election at work.
The Republicans deserve Trump. They did not back down about Palin even when she jumped ship to be the queen of the Tea Party and lied about death panels.
Or it could be that with all the white supremacists at Trump rallies, that's certainly why I as a minority would NEVER vote for him and I doubt any others will.
DeleteI think Drumpf is just stupid enough to pick Palin.
DeleteHe is going to want a woman to counter Hillary and Fiorina is damaged goods now. No way Dullard would take Ted's leftovers.
And Drumpf would want someone "pretty" but dumb. Someone supportive but who could be bullied and pushed around and not cross him. He has a thing for models and pageant contestants. He might even see Palin as a positive in that she has been a nominee before and campaigned before.
It would be the final nail in his coffin. With Palin at his side he is sure to lose.
Even Bernie Sanders could win against Drumpf/Palin.
One of my soon to be ex co workers, a conservative christian fossil fuel voter has been rah rahing the Donald all along, today she comes in and says "I can't believe he's the nominee, I haven't a clue of any of his platforms, I can forgive the serial philandering, but I haven't a clue what he stands for. I told her that while she was rah rahing and shaking her pom poms, he got the thumbs up from David Duke and the KKK, never walked it back, never distanced himself, Now, reading this, I have a feeling more will switch sides or not vote at all.
DeleteI heard the name Jonie Ernst, the pig castrator's name floating as a possibility for VEEP.
He'll never pick Jonie Ernst. Too ugly. If he chooses a woman he is going to want her to be better looking than Carly Fiorina.
DeleteBut I don't think he'll pick a woman or any minority. He will go with the old white man card.
So it's probably Christie but might be Gingrich.
Kasich has already said no. There are a lot that will say no.
Baloney. Moanin trumpet SCREAMED, the don won, he used his own money. He is great. Really? How about he sent out his T-ramps to EXTORT money from innocent people for his lousy election take over. Owning the voting machines, voters, and constitutional sheriffs helped abit, right? YES msnbc you and a couple others elected your citizen united candidate, satan in rhinestones. Drink the rump water, gag on the Trojan horse piss. I read lawsuits are brewing with the fec fcc fbi. LIARS AND CHEATERS NEVER WIN. Nope don, you did not win, rich in the pockets and poor in the soul.
ReplyDeleteTwitter is full of media conservatives officially ditching their Republican voter registration.
ReplyDeleteTrump has his own toxic stench, just like his sidelined buddy Sara. Gonna be a fun week.
She's not sidelined, just behind the scenes doing who knows the hell what. tRump always thanks her in victory speeches.
DeleteYeah, this could be the snowball that starts the avalanche of Republicans leaving the party or simply voting Democrat for this one election.
DeleteIf they thought Dullard was going to heal the party or bring everyone together, he is actually the one that is going to drive a stake through it.
I think the GOP is done. Finally. Sarah may have helped but Dullard finished it off.
Just to be clear, if Hilllary were a republican, her violent temper and history of throwing things (plates, vases...) would be screeched to the rafters and used against her. Sure it's sexist since powerful men are allowed to be angry because showing anger means you're one with power.
ReplyDeleteBut you know it would take Hillary out of the running in a second.
LOL you idiot. Why do you bother? Don't you have panties to sniff somewhere?
Delete5:23 so this is what a far left comment section looks like. No different than a far right one; viciously insult those who disagree with you. Question, would you respond to the poster in the same way were this a face to face conversation? This is why I despise political junkies.
Delete@3:58 AM Too early for your stupidity. Why would you project Sarah Palin's habits onto Hillary Clinton? You are Palinbot who gets no sleep. "Just to be clear" is your identifying phrase, and you are too stupid to realize that you tell on yourself with each ignorant comment. The Palins are the epitome of trailer trash, and your sorry ass worships them blindly.
DeleteIsabella - you have trouble with troll-spotting? Concerned? Hmmm...
DeleteKinda funny if McCain votes for Hillary too over his VP pick's endorsement of the stubby fingered vulgarin.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason last night I just went crazy with Trump's win in Indiana. I know Cruz is perhaps even worse, but the knowledge that a man like Trump can be this close to a major party nomination is not any better in the light of day. If I weren't so old and poor and cold natured I would move to Canada just to get away from the people who think Trump is presidential material.
ReplyDeleteTrump is not going to win. No need to move. There are more of us against him; we just don't get the media time. Remember, Trump has been running in a split GOP field; he did not even have a plurality of the GOP votes until now. They have a mess. Just read that it!s 80% chance the GOP loses the Senate now.
DeleteJust cannot fathom McCain... This morning he's saying that he'll "be available for foreign affairs counsel to ""anyone"". Has he no shame?
ReplyDeleteWish that geezer would croak once and for all.
DeleteI want him to live through the election season and encourage his supporters to vote Hilary.
DeleteAgain Trump flings out accusations, repeating I don't know, blah blah, his father said mean things about me and the media never questions him. Same thing with Obama's birth certificate crap-I have information blah blah, but never produces it and the media never questions it.
ReplyDeleteThe media had better start taking this serial liar seriously and hold him accountable for his statements.
Guess we can look forward to him choosing Palin as his running mate-birds of a feather flock together. He said he is going to chose a politician, I am assuming because he has no clue as to how the government works.
Also I have the "pleasure" of working with a Trump supporter- when I asked him why, it is because Trump has great ideas-the only one he can name is building the wall, however when I question him how Trump plans to build a wall on the Rio Grande river- not only did my co-worker not know a river separates the border, but then stated Trump will build the wall on pontoons. He was stunned when I asked, won't those meanie illegals just swim under the wall? This is a supposed college student, but I guess even "stupid" can get into college nowadays.
5:53, being intelligent enough to get through college does NOT preclude being STUPID!
DeleteIt's going to be Trump- Christie.
DeleteI'll bet Donald's Daddy paid for his financial degree. Donald having a 'real' college degree is much the same as Sarah Palin having a real one!
DeleteIt's always been thought that McCain's group got her hers since he picked her to run with him w/o having vetted her thoroughly prior to making the announcement!
He/they found a mess of things to clean up (and hide) when it came to Sarah Palin and her family members!
AK: Rep. Guttenberg
ReplyDeletesaid the rule is being misapplied by the Sanders campaign, “It’s there in case there are people there who aren’t suppose to be there, but never before to willow down and only allow certain people to even run for elections. It’s shameless what they are doing.” Guttenberg went on to point out a what he sees as a major irony of the situation “The problem is the Sanders campaign plays as if they are come with a higher calling, but they are doing the things they accuse the DNC and the Hillary campaign of doing, and now they are doing it.” They are creating problems that have never existed before”
Sanders campaign’s actions are “pretty shameful.” “The Sanders campaign is disenfranchising people.”

DeleteI don't think I can blame Mark Salter for sticking with his conservative principles and backing the only Republican left in the running. ㋡
ReplyDeletehttp://www.politicalcompass.org/uselection2016
I wonder who he'll vote for when Bernie gets the Democratic nomination? ✌
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/seth-abramson/5-reasons-bernie-sanders-wins-big-with-cruz-dropout_b_9834348.html
Have you seen the new CNN poll? Clinton 54%, Trump 41%
DeleteI think we're going to hear a lot of confusing or infuriating statements from the politicians, pundits, writers, donators, etc. I bet many will pretend to either support or reject ... depending on their viability to be relected by their constituents. So they may publicly say one thing for expediency, yet do another to meet their conscience. The stakes with Trump is that high. I nearly danced the jig when Cruz suspended his campaign. I don't want that Christ Warrior anywhere near the White House. Hillary will trounce Trump. I do fear he'll have Christy as a running mate. Christy has a quick and mean mind. He's a pro in bullying tongue lashing. They will also take advantage of all the Sanders' statements against Hillary. Sanders has no concern in party unity ... which not only hurts Hillary in the general election, but the very important down-tickets as well.
ReplyDeleteThere's going to be a lot of that going on.
ReplyDeleteMany Republicans will not share that decision. Much of it will happen in the quiet, secrecy and sanctity of the voting booth.
But there are a lot of Republicans that will either not vote at all or will vote for Clinton. No matter how much of a "team player" they are, they will not be able to bring themselves to vote for Dullard Drumpf.
John McCain came out today in support of Donald Trump after having said he would not support him in a run for POTUS! He caved AGAIN - but, we all know he has a history of doing so!
ReplyDeleteWell, he has a history of poor judgement. Just look at his own VP pick.
DeleteHmm. Wonder if the endorsement is because Dullard is about the make the same mistake and take the heat of McCain?
Only a fool would believe the GOP establishment is going to write this one off. All that "I won't support Trump" is bullshit.
