Courtesy of CBS News:
Speaking at a judicial conference in D.C. on Thursday night, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren unleashed one of her strongest attacks yet on presumptive GOP nominee and "wannabe tyrant" Donald Trump over his rhetoric on judges -- and his troubles over Trump University.
"Donald Trump is a loud, nasty, thin-skinned fraud who has never risked anything for anyone and serves no one but himself," she told members of the American Constitution Society. "And that is just one of the many reasons why he will never be President of the United States."
.....
"Donald Trump has run into a lot of legal trouble," she said. "Ah yes, Trump University, which his own former employees refer to as a 'fraudulent scheme.'"
.....
"You shame yourself and you shame this great country," she told Trump. "Judge Curiel can't respond, but we can.... He is one of countless American patriots who has spent decades quietly serving his country, sometimes at great risk to his own life," she said.
"Judge Curiel has survived far worse than Donald Trump. He has survived actual assassination attempts," Warren said. "He will have no trouble surviving Trump's nasty temper tantrums."
You have undoubtedly seen clips of this speech, but I decided that it was important to post it in its entirety.
Elizabeth Warren does not simply go after Donald Trump, she eviscerates him.
And beyond that she demonstrates. without a shadow of a doubt in my opinion, why SHE is the absolutely best person to be Hillary Clinton's Vice President.
Hillary needs her. We need her. And America needs her.
So before any of you start with that garbage about how she can do so much more in the Senate, here are two words, Joe Biden.
Now Joe Biden was a popular and effective Senator for decades, but nobody could argue that as Vice President he has risen to a greater stature, and had a larger impact on the future of this country, than he ever could have hoped for while toiling away in the Senate.
As a Vice President Elizabeth Warren will be able to push forward many of the policies that Bernie Sanders promised but never had any hope of delivering.
She can do more at Hillary Clinton's side, being the voice of the working class, than she could ever hope to accomplish even if she spent another two decades as the Senator for Massachusetts.
And that my friends is just a fact.
Regardless of being told that this name calling is offensive, Trump's limp dicked response on Twitter was -
ReplyDelete"Pocahontas is at it again! Goofy Elizabeth Warren, one of the least productive U.S. Senators, has a nasty mouth. Hope she is V.P. choice."
Warren's speech was terrific and I actually cheered and laughed and at one point did a fist pump.
B.
It's hilarious how he calls her ineffective. He has no idea what she has accomplished and how important she was in getting us through the 2008-on recession. And no way is he paying attention to what she's doing now in Congress. I loved how, a week or so ago, she corrected him on that she didn't go to Harvard. Her degree is from elsewhere. She was happy to admit she didn't go to such a prestigious school. And the funny thing is, she didn't get a degree from Harvard and yet was asked to teach there and for so many years. I loved Warren's speech yesterday and so loved her comparison of Curiel and Trump and that remark she made about Trump's lack of service.
DeleteTrump's IQ is 118. Warren's is 150+
Delete(Truth: I know nothing about their IQs--just a rough estimate based on the literacy level of his tweets.)
I watched her give this speech, she was "fired up!" She was still enthusiastic while on the Rachel Maddow show. I think that she is a great choice for VP. Who says there has to be a man on the ticket? Let's all remember to vote no matter who's on the ballot with Hillary. That is of vital importance to keep tRump away from the Whitehouse.
ReplyDeleteIt seems shortsighted, however, to waste her talents (cat herding,Hemingway-esque twitter take-downs) on just being a popular cheerleader.
DeleteTo me, it's like Jeff Bezos stepping down and working in customer support. How would that keep Amazon on track?
Just as Joe re-invented VP, so can she.

ReplyDeleteDrump's first speak since Twitter with Warren. He is playing religious card so far.
ReplyDeleteWarren delivered an excellent speech. She has done what none of the repubs could do which is put Trump in his place.
ReplyDeleteI love love love Warren! I am not sure if the rest of America is ready to vote for 2 women in the highest offices of the land even though that would be my dream ticket. However I have faith that Hillary & Elizabeth will both make sure that Warren is in the most effective powerful position possible.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I keep hearing Hillary polls lowest among men. I'm afraid that 2 women would just be too much for them and create more voters for Trump.
Delete"I'm afraid that 2 women would just be too much for them"
DeleteI know, right? It's not as if women are humans. /s
I do trust the Clinton and Warren teams to make the right decision.
Which is good, because if it were up to me, I'd just say "Tough titties. There are more of us (smart people, and yes, many of us are women) than there are of them."
I think that you're on to something, anonymous 9:54am.
DeleteOne thing that I'm curious about is if Jesse Gryphen is such a progressive feminist, why hasn't he spoken out about the Brock Turner (Stanford) sentencing? Laying claim to a lesbian daughter is pretty much all I see and frankly, I don't care about his daughter. If I did then I would read her blog (assuming she has one).
Donna, pretty sure Gryphen doesn't have to prove his feminist bona-fides to you
DeleteSo much concern-trolling for Gryph's daughter. Feminist women are assisted by our male allies in the political arena. Let's stop giving purity tests and build bridges instead.
DeleteListening to DT. He is going to protect churches to speak their minds about politics free from intimidation.
ReplyDeleteBefore the gun instant news cut into Trump he was working on a clean up from the damage Warren is doing to him. Now you can't hear Trump, just hear the shooting news. At an airport yet.
DeleteYou know it means everyone needs more guns.
He's also against a free press. Think about how bad our corporate press is now; he will stifle it completely!
DeleteI have no problem with that as long as it happens after their tax-exempt status is removed.
DeleteThe media is mean to him.
DeleteHe was replaced by some shooter's news from an Instagram video.
MSNBC is covering the shooting and there is no Trump. Will they give him his free airtime later? Poor Trump is so mistreated.
CNN is all about the Greatest. Trump can't catch a break with the news today. He had a spectacular come back speech prepared and he was delivering in his presidential mode.
DeleteHe is mostly about ATTACK.
Of course Trump will remove tax-exempt status for churches in US. Isn't that the best way to protect them from intimidation?
DeleteTrump speaking now trying to imitate Hillary's attack on him, point by point. Of course he lies and just said that Hillary wants abortion on demand up until the moment of birth. I think America's women are too smart to vote for him.
ReplyDeleteHis diseased mind just doesn't accept that every new lie he makes up is going to be flung back in his face by Hillary, Or Elizabeth, Or any other number of people. And, it will end up on the new site, http://trumplies.com/
DeleteNow, if we can only get the loyal Republicans to look at that site.
Thanks for the link about Trump lies...I'm now following on twitter and tweeting it out!

Oh, for heaven's sake. It is a common rhetorical usage that in two words expresses that of course you do not want the terrible thing to actually happen that you are hypothesizing about. Connotation, not denotation.

And once Hillary has done her 8 years as POTUS, we can have Warren for the 8 years after that.
ReplyDeleteYes! Or even 4 years each as president. I'll take it!
DeleteI don't know. She might not care for having to deal with the pressures of the presidency well into her 80s.
DeleteIf I could talk to Hillary, I would say, don't get cocky now. Hate is strong. Donald and followers are filled with the stuff and it's egging them on. Because she said "delete your account" and now she is being mocked. Urrrrhggg. Hillary! It's like that movie the Exorcist. Remember? Where that preacher played by Max Van Sydow warned that other preacher not to interact with that demon in that little girl. Don't go in Donald's arena in that name calling shit, and pointing fingers bit. I want a politician who is able to stand and face the devil without flinching. Now, gather yourself, and reboot Hillary, and watch yourself. Another boo boo like that and even I as a voter can't help you. The Republicans are standing by and waiting. Even the ones that recalled their support of Trump, (1?)are waiting to get behind this candidate regardless if he's racist or not. They are watching the numbers and ready to pounce.
ReplyDeleteAre you seriously warning Hillary Clinton about Donald Trump?
DeleteShe is not one the one out of their depth here.
She now has President Obama, Elizabeth Warren, and Bill Clinton as part of her posse, Donald Trump is losing support so fast it is leaving skid marks all over Washington.
No if anybody needs to be worried it is the orange hued Stay Puff Marshmallow Man.
I am not 10:11 but I believe you've completely misconstrued what they were trying to say @Gryphen.
DeleteYes, vote for Hillary Clinton. I'd love to see her select Elizabeth Warren as her VP candidate, but if she makes another choice, I'm sure it will be a good one.
DeleteLove how everyone came out in support of Hillary Clinton yesterday! What a day for the unification of the Democratic Party!
Trump isn't going to know what hit him! Noticed he's called Hillary and Elizabeth names again! He's like a little kid and is a joke for the Republicans!
Trump cannot win, for one simple reason. No one can win an election at the nat'l level without the minority vote.

DeleteDemocrats Will Learn All the Wrong Lessons From Brush With Bernie
ReplyDeleteInstead of a reality check for the party, it'll be smugness redoubled
...Politicians are so used to viewing the electorate as a giant thing to be manipulated that no matter what happens at the ballot, they usually can only focus on the Washington-based characters they perceive to be pulling the strings. Through this lens, the uprising among Democratic voters this year wasn't an organic expression of mass disgust, but wholly the fault of Bernie Sanders, who within the Beltway is viewed as an oddball amateur and radical who jumped the line.
Nobody saw his campaign as an honest effort to restore power to voters, because nobody in the capital even knows what that is. In the rules of palace intrigue, Sanders only made sense as a kind of self-centered huckster who made a failed play for power. And the narrative will be that with him out of the picture, the crisis is over. No person, no problem.

DeleteA VP works for the president, and ultimately has to take direction from her. As senator, Warren has her own power base, and if the Democrats take back the Senate she'd be the effective head of a co-equal branch of government.
ReplyDeleteNah uh, the vp is in charge of the senate:
DeleteQ: Brandon Garcia wants to know, “What does the Vice President do?”
PALIN: That’s something that Piper would ask me! … [T]hey’re in charge of the U.S. Senate so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom.

Note to Clinton do not put Warren on your ticket
ReplyDelete1. You need a male on the ticket. I am a woman, but work in a male field. The sexism has not gone away, far from it and if you don't have a man on the ticket, many will not vote for you. You may lose moderates who dislike Trump
2. Warren is more liberal that you are, you might get Sanders supporters, but you will lose moderate republicans and independents who may have voted for you.
FU, it isn't about male or female, it's about finding the right person.
DeleteFU back 10:56. This country is still sexist!
DeleteI think Elizabeth Warren would be a great choice as Hillary Clinton's VP.
DeleteBut, Hillary has met and worked with many in D.C. during all the years in her various jobs! (Senator, Secretary of State, wife of President Clinton, etc.)
She will pick the candidate for VP that she feels she can best work and is the best qualified.
She and her VP candidate will have my vote!
Good points, 10:50. No need for the rudeness from 10:56. You weren't even saying that an all-female ticket wouldn't be a good ticket, but you were stating what is true: a heck of a lot of people would not take well to an all-female ticket. I know some of these people. They're family members and friends who have come around to Hillary as a pres but no way would they go for a female ticket. Many men (and even women, yes) out there would refer to it as "cramming it down our throats" like people like to say on Fox about anything the Dems do.
DeleteI think Warren is intelligent enough to make her own decisions on to take the VP slot or not.
ReplyDeleteAll this "she would be better in the Senate" "she would be better as VP" is ridiculous. She is an intelligent woman that will make her own decisions on what she wants and how she wants to do it.
Where to, Hillary? How Clinton Is Relying on President Obama’s Help
ReplyDeletehttp://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/11/us/politics/hillary-clinton-obama.html
Loved how President Obama, VP Biden, Senator Elizabeth Warren, etc. came out in support of Hillary Clinton yesterday! Outstanding unification of the Democratic Party!
ReplyDeleteNow the race is on and I'm sure it's already well thought out and organized. The likes of which in Donald Trump's circle, is not!
No matter how they (Republican party) try to change the colors of The Donald, it's not going to work due to there being too much out there he has said and done that is on video, in the newscasts, on twitter, etc.
He's going down to defeat with his ego being crushed to smithereens!
Can hardly wait to cast my vote for Mrs. Clinton! Will be grand seeing her take the oath of office in January, 2017.
Just think - two Presidents Clinton in the White House! Their experience level in government as well as foreign affairs cannot be beaten by an Republican! Especially Donald Trump!
Now some new general election polls are coming out, and sure enough, Clinton's showing some momentum. A new Reuters/Ipsos survey has her up by eight points; IDB/TIPP has her up five. Even Rasmussen — which had Trump leading by five points in mid-May — now has Clinton leading by four. And all these results are occurring before it sinks in that Clinton has now locked up her nomination and made history. What's more, on Thursday afternoon Fox News came out with a survey showing a six-point swing from a three-point Trump lead in May to a three-point HRC lead now.

More than 2.5 million ballots from California's June 7 primary are still uncounted, sparking questions about the results of the presidential contest in which Hillary Clinton emerged the winner and leaving the fate of local races in the air as poll workers continue to grapple with reports of voter difficulties.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Los Angeles Times, the uncounted ballots would put the total voter turnout at around 8.5 million, or around 47 percent of all registered voters. While the results are unlikely to impact Clinton's win in the state, Bernie Sanders said Thursday he expected the final tally would show a closer race—one more in keeping with polls that predicted a nail-biter.
"I look forward to the full counting of the votes in California, which I suspect will show a much closer vote than the current vote tally," Sanders said after a meeting with President Barack Obama, who then went on to endorse Clinton.
Los Angeles County, which on Tuesday voted 57 percent for Clinton versus 42 for Sanders, reported more unprocessed ballots than any region at roughly 616,000. San Diego County, where Clinton won 55 percent to Sanders' 44, had 285,000 uncounted ballots.
Many of those were 'provisional' ballots, which are given to voters whose party registration cannot be determined on the day of the election. The LA Times wrote on Tuesday:
