Hillary Clinton's acceptance speech and a rundown of just how amazing this convention was this week.

It was a good speech, however in my opinion it ranked far below the speeches given by a number of the other Democratic heavy hitters like the President and Michelle Obama, Cory Booker, Joe Biden, and a handful of others.

But that is fine, Hillary is more of a doer than a speaker and we already know that about her.

Not that everybody agrees with me on that:
Besides if you compare it to almost every speech from the RNC last week she hit it out of the park.

Speaking of the Republicans from what I'm hearing they really wish that they could switch conventions with the Democrats.
That's from Dick Cheney's former press secretary.
That is from a veteran of conservative operations.
Conservative blogger.

In fact the convention was so good that it seemed to enrage Donald Trump:

"You know what I wanted to. I wanted to hit a couple of those speakers so hard," Trump said. "I would have hit them. No, no. I was going to hit them, I was all set and then I got a call from a highly respected governor."

Trump didn't immediately clarify what he meant, but he said he was made particularly upset by an unspecified person he called a "little guy."

"I was gonna hit one guy in particular, a very little guy," he said. "I was gonna hit this guy so hard his head would spin and he wouldn't know what the hell happened."

I think that "hit" is a euphemism for verbally attacking somebody.

After all if he hit somebody with those tiny little hands how would they even know?

Another person who did not seem to enjoy the final speech of the convention, was this guy:

That was the look on Sanders' face at the moment when Hillary was magnanimously thanking him for his contribution during the race for the nomination and for bringing so many young people into politics for the first time.

I don't know exactly what Bernie was thinking, but it did not seem that he was completely comfortable with how all of this turned out.

Well he might not have been, but for most of us this far exceeded what we could have hoped for, and it certainly left an impression on the conservatives.

And it did not appear that these two could have been any happier with the outcome.

Of course that pales in comparison to Hillary's reaction to the surprise pyrotechnics that went off at the end of the night.
Now I am just waiting for the new polls to come out showing that Hillary is crushing Trump. Because we certainly know they are on the way.

  1. It is not fair to compare Obama's speeches to anyone! He is incredible. I watched so much of this convention just because it was GOOD! Her speech was the culmination of four days of everyone being on message. I do see a commercial coming using the words of the father of the killed soldier. She needs to play that one over and over again. I scared the hell out of the dogs when he delivered that truth bomb - I was on my feet cheering, screaming, crying. Fuck Trump and Nicole Wallace with her passive agressive commentary.

I don't really have that impression. Two pro-Sanders primary voters that we know have decided to back Hillary Clinton with great enthusiasm. I think that a lot of Sanders' supporters simply did not know anything about what Hillary Clinton has accomplished during all of these years - while usually under vicious attack by the GOP and the media.

For young people to know how involved Hillary Clinton was from her college years on in helping children and poor families is very significant. What Republicans can say the same?

From the moment Bill Clinton became governor of Arkansas and a force to be reckoned with politically, she has been targeted, first by the GOP in Arkansas for wanting to help the poor, and later by the national GOP. That she has survived all of that and continued to pursue her goals of helping people is amazing and should be inspirational for all of us, but especially for young people.

I got through to several of the women in my family who don't like her. They don't necessarily believe all the things they have heard about her but they think she's manipulative, untrustworthy, etc. I reminded them about women's intuition and how Hillary's friends have been with her for decades and of all the many new friends she makes every time she is on the campaign trail. Women know when other women are lying, manipulative bitches if they are around them frequently. Hillary wouldn't have lifelong friends, she'd have those that hang on through a campaign and then pick up a new set the next campaign if all these rumors were true. Instead, it's the opposite. I also look at the daughter she's raised and that speaks volumes. It was like a lightbulb went on when I explained it to them. They are now going to vote for her, maybe still a few are hesitant but they will vote. They would have had no problem telling me otherwise :) We're a little too honest in our family at times.

Right next to Ralph Nader and Ron Paul.

I seriously doubt that any child, in any classroom, will ever even learn his name.

Yeah, fuck Sanders. All he has done is to move Clinton and the Democratic party way to the left of where they began this campaign, and may well have put Clinton on her way to the White House by doing so. Without the influence he's had during this campaign, she'd stand out as the conservative in this race. Even in her speech last night Clinton embraced two more of Sanders' positions, and let it be known she'd work with him in implementing them. So, yeah, he's just like Nader, who cost the Dems the presidency in 2000, and Ron Paul, who set the stage for the Republican party's hard right turn and subsequent dive off a cliff.

You're the one not seeing what it shows. You've been so invested in Clinton from jump street you don't recognize 40% of her speech last night was lifted out of Sanders' stump speech. You might grin sardonically, too.

It's not over for Sanders. History will treat Sanders favorably. His movement continues. Who do you think is going to take the place of the 60 and 70 year olds in DC when they finally get the fuck out of the way? It's the young people you've been spitting on as they try to change the world. More people under 30 voted for Sanders than Trump and Clinton combined. That's where the country is headed. In 30 years people will be voting for a presidential candidate who says, "I was with Bernie in 2016" and voters will know who he was.

Not to speak for Jesse, but you are an idiot. Bernie started out wanting to move the party left, and then got spotlight happy (and Jane started liking the income.) Remember when he called Hillary names, and blamed the DNC for everything from voter intimidation to cheating? He may as well have been a Repuke at that point.

To my fellow Berners: We know that Bernie pushed his money to down-ticket candidates who felt the Bern and how he probably saved the election for Hillary by pushing her to the left.

So, just let these people ignorantly bash Bernie amongst themselves... haha it really makes them appear petty (including Jesse) as the Berners see the big picture (just like Bernie) and they forget we're all Dems.

He did give a few fleeing smiles and one bit of applause. This was near the beginning of her speech. Maybe the 8 min. mark? But then, I was watching PBS. They have a known liberal bias. Right?

Remember, on page 113 of The Wurlds Wurst Inglish Langauge Dictionery, the word CONFIDENCE is immediately followed by the word COMPLACENCY.

And then CONDESCENDING, also too, which the dictionery defines as "the downward movement of a former prisoner on a staircase or over a high precipice."

RAGE: TRUMP LASHES OUT AFTER DNC ONSLAUGHT

...As Trump raged, it gradually became clear that “hitting” people meant viciously insulting them, rather than resorting to actual physical violence. Still, to hear a major party’s presidential nominee using such bloodthirsty language to describe his planned retaliation was chilling.

But wanting to hurt people is nothing new for Trump. Earlier this year, he told a crowd to be on the lookout for protesters and to “knock the crap out of them,” adding “I promise you, I will pay for the legal fees.”

At another rally in February, Trump spotted a protester and told the crowd he’d “like to punch him in the face.”

Yet even as Trump delighted in approval from the rowdy crowd, his comments on Thursday played directly into Democrats’ hands: One of their chief lines of attack against Trump is that his behavior sets a bad example for America’s children. Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign has already released an ad featuring a medley of Trump’s nastiest moments.

Not only is it clever (nice job!) but I sincerely believe it's the quality that will ultimately lead to his downfall.

He simply cannot resist responding to perceived insults or criticisms, no matter how much his campaign staff tries to make him appear 'more presidential'. I have no doubt that Hillary's team (which we know has been built from decades of experience plus the addition of some top staff from the Obama campaigns) has spent months analyzing exactly how to set him off.

Now that she officially has the nomination, the plans will be set in motion to demonstrate to the world how horrifically unstable Trump really is.

We all know that there is a base of supporters who will vote for him regardless of what he does or says, but the moderate Republicans and Independents are the voters that can still be swayed by evidence of how dangerous he would be in the White House. We're already seeing some important defections from the higher levels of the GOP and that will continue as we head towards November.

I don't care what those moronic talking heads say, I thought Hillary's speech was just fine and if I hear them say one more time she is untrustworthy I will scream, nothing like promoting the GOP agenda.

Ok it got a little boring in parts, but so what. We know that isn't her strong point, but a speech is just a speech. The important part is getting the work done and Hillary has proved over and over that she can.

Another point the moronic talking heads keep repeating is "we don't know Hillary". For one, who can blame her, she has been under attack for 25 years or more. I am sure she is very guarded because of that.

Also I don't recall them complaining we don't know the real George W. Maybe if they had we wouldn't have gotten into two illegal wars because he got off the wagon.

Finally, of all the speeches that highlighted the problem with the Traitor Trump's GOP, the most memorable was the speech by Mr. Kahn, he demolished them.

I thought her speech was fine. Her job, on that last night of the convention, was to present who she is and what she hopes to achieve as president. It has to include a rundown of new policies and changes of direction. That's the whole purpose. I thought that she did fine. It certainly was the absolute opposite of the empty, negative and egotistical rant by Donald Trump the week before.

Gotta love Hill's facial expressions at the fireworks. I laughed out loud. Can't wait to vote for this lady.

The only part I'm leery of is the constant crap she's going to be getting. Benghazi was just a taste of what she's going to have put up with from the people she is going to have to work with. I imagine it will look as if Obama was treated almost delicately compared to the dose she'll get.

Her lack of a penis really upsets a lot of those who have one, even if they can't find it. I find it both delightful and infuriating. And yeah, I'm a chick. One who caucused for Bernie in Iowa, even!

Before the GOP convention, Trump was all over the news, promising the Biggest, Bestest Convention Ever, overflowing with the greatest speakers because HE knows how to produce a show.

Once the disaster of a hatefest was over and the negative reviews started pouring in, Trump suddenly disavowed all responsibility and claimed he only showed up for the final speech.

So much for the party of personal responsibility!

The DNC, by far, know the intricacies of running a convention. It was like a well oiled machine and didn't come across as fake in any way. We've still got over a hundred days left, we've got to unite to GOTV and keep the momentum going, too much is at stake. I hope Donald gets caught and can't run for office, he's slated to get briefed eveyday with the same information the President Does. A little knowledge and a loose cannon aren't a good combo.
I was proud of Hillary's speech, her bio, and how she pro ported herself. As for anyone in the audience who was less than impressed after being mentioned, you can't please everyone, but at least Hillary tried.
And I was so proud of my city as the backdrop to this shattered ceiling. Even moreso after learning from Sarah about Paul Revere all those years ago. My favorite line from Chelsea? "And my mom never, ever quits"
