Let's end the day with the first President Obama/Hillary Clinton campaign event of the 2016 election cycle.

Courtesy of ABC News:

Clinton, fresh off the news that the FBI didn't recommend charges against her for using a private email server for government correspondence when she was secretary of state, took the stage first to chants of "Hillary, Hillary, Hillary." She said she has known Obama in many roles and called him "a friend."

"I was honored to stand with him in the good times and the hard times," she told the crowd in Charlotte. "Someone who has never forgotten where he came from. And Donald [Trump], if you're out there tweeting, it's Hawaii."

Clinton smiled after her reference to the Trump-led birther movement, which questioned whether Obama was born in the United States.

Then it was the President's turn:

"Everybody can tweet. Nobody actually knows what it takes to do the job until you sit behind the desk," said the president, making a veiled reference to Trump. "Sasha tweets, but she doesn't think that she thereby should be sitting behind the desk."

Obama called Clinton "steady and true" and said she's in politics for the same reason he is, to help others. He took a swipe at Republicans who "don't really know what the guy is talking about," making another reference to Trump.

"You ask them, they're all like, 'I don't know.' Then they kinda duck the other way. Am I joking? No." Going a step further, Obama told the crowd in North Carolina, a battleground state, that "this isn't even a choice because the other side has nothing to offer you."

I watched this whole thing today, and on the heels of having it confirmed that the FBI was not pressing for charges against Clinton over the e-mail server, it just made me feel relaxed that the grownups were firmly in charge and they would make sure that our country did not allow a lunatic to take up residence in the White House.

I already lived through that once with George W. Bush and I really don't ever want to see it happen again.

  1. What a good day!

I am proud to the point of tears of "the Obama Coalition."

Or, as the HuffPo headline calls them, "The Avengers."

I saw news coverage of the POTUS with Clinton on the campaign trail. His speech seemed forced and stilted. I don't think he genuinely cares for Clinton. I am basing this off of how warm and sincere he seems when he speaks of Biden.

Oh my god, 4:40. You must be blind then. I was blown away by his obvious affection for her and hers for him. I have never seen anything like it before between a president and the next person running--not Reagan/Bush nor Clinton/Gore. I cried all the way through it. So moving!

  4. Getting Hillary over the finish line will take all of us doing our part. We do not want to wake up November 9 with a President-elect Trump. Older white people (and I count myself in that group since I turn 60 this fall) vote. Every election. It matters!!!

It will take Hillary doing her part. So far, no luck there. I just watched a montage of clips from the FBI presser today, stating actual facts that they had found to be true concerning her emails. They were compared to Hillary just plain lying in regard to the same subjects. She's just too damn wonderful to play by everybody else's rules. Just like her husband-they're above it all. And don't blame the voters if she loses. Blame her. BTW, I'm older than you.

President Obama has been in office for eight years. Never...unless I missed something...have the Clintons been invited to any event held at the White House.

There was one instance, when Hillary was SOS, she was invited to have lunch with P.O. in the Rose Garden.

Yet, in Hillary's speech today, she used all the qualities earned by Michelle, to garner praise and applause for "her" cause. Will we see Michelle out campaigning for her?

    I don't think so...

Ginger, you have missed so much! I feel so bad for you! FLOTUS has already called HRC a phenomenal woman this year (Google it) and has announced she will be in the trail for HRC. You have no idea how well the two women know each other: they are both First Ladies!

I bet we do indeed see Michelle out there. And gee, Hillary was in how many countries in her four years? Just when do you think she had time for a relaxing get together with the Obamas? You are just guessing, and trying to make him look disingenuous.

Because of course the White House keeps you au fait with its social calendars, isn't that correct? They just abhor privacy, don't they?

And I think you might find that the lunch you know about occurred after Secretary Clinton left office.

You have missed plenty, you really know nothing, but you sure have a lot of hate, so don't let you ignorance get in the way of expressing it.

Also I will point out that your darling George W. Bush's wife spoke only two sentences on McCain's behalf- and those were to introduce a video of her chickenshit husband. You should probably stop with your abuse of Michelle Obama, your racism is showing.

The Republicans have not finished with Hillary and the emails, because they have got a mentally ill candidate that has no policies and doesn't even know how the government works.

All they have is smearing Hillary. When they finish with the emails, they will start on Benghazi again.

Tonight Donald Trump accused Attorney General Loretta Lynch of accepting a "bribe" from Hillary Clinton to clear her in the email probe.

Meanwhile, right now I'm watching CNN and the anchor is asking Jeff Toobin if it's possible Trump is right and that Hillary Clinton did bribe Lynch and get Comey to recommend against prosecution.

Well you sure are off base. I posted it to show how far the right wing is going off the rails, led by the clown himself. And how much the media joins in with legitimizing this slander.

I have been around for more than 6 decades and have followed Hillary's career from the get go and have admired her from afar for nearly have that time.

What a hateful creature you are to project your bile the way you did.

If you had read the article, you would have seen that it was a segment from the article that was posted. It had NOTHING to do with me personally. So chill your knickers and learn how to behave.

Yeah, that's not gonna happen. Remember we have no idea what was discussed at the "Tarmac Summit" thus Trump knows as much as we do regarding what deals were cut there in Phoenix.

Obviously deals were made and timely FBI report was released but with the caveat that Hillary was reckless and careless, but still, she gets to go on, and probably by having her husband make a deal much like Trump has throughout his life.

Deals, that's what makes business and politics run...if you can't do the deal or have associates that can make the deals for you then you are dead in the water.

The Right Wing Machine is in full on attack mode on every side. It's stunning to see how many people really believed she'd be indicted for criminal wrongdoing. They are spitting mad and screaming for more investigations, making outrageous accusations, calling for Comey's head, it's a sight to behold.
    -----------

Republican Donald Trump is accusing Hillary Clinton of bribing Attorney General Loretta Lynch following a report that said Clinton would consider keeping Lynch if she's elected president.

"It's a bribe!" Trump declared at a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina, Tuesday, hours after the FBI said it wouldn't recommend charges against Clinton over her use of a private email server while she was secretary of state.

Trump was referring to a story in The New York Times that quoted "Democrats close to" Clinton saying she may decide to rehire Lynch.

Trump says Lynch may have believed that, if she let Clinton off the hook, she'd have four more years on the job.

    "It's a disgrace," said Trump. "It's a disgrace!"

If anything happens to "bring Palin down", which is very unlikely, it won't be broken here.

The grown-ups are definitely not in charge of the New York Times this morning. They rarely mention Hillary Clinton on the front page unless they can criticize her, so they're clinging to the emails. What is wrong with today's media? When the rats were really in charge (under George W.), the media, led by the New York Times, were as sycophant-ish as possible. And they trip very lightly around Donald Trump because they do not want to be shut out of his events. Doe the media have no spine at all?
