Roger Ailes is officially out at Fox News!

Courtesy of TPM:

Roger Ailes, who built Fox News into a cable news powerhouse, resigned Thursday amid swirling allegations of sexual harassment.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch will be chairman and CEO of Fox News and Fox Business after Ailes' resignation, which a press release from parent company 21st Century Fox announced was effective today.

“Roger Ailes has made a remarkable contribution to our company and our country. Roger shared my vision of a great and independent television organization and executed it brilliantly over 20 great years," Murdoch said in a statement.

In announcing the news, the statement makes no mention of the allegations around Ailes, but praised his role in founding the network and making it a hub for millions of conservative viewers.

Speaking of those unmentioned allegations, it appears that they are still coming.
It needs to be pointed out that Ailes was all but escorted from the Fox News building on the same day that Donald Trump accepted the nomination as the Republican candidate for President.

That is a HUGE thing to have happen.

Not only does Fox News spread the GOP's propaganda for them, Roger Ailes, for all intents and purposes, has shaped the Republican party into his own image.

With him gone it now falls to Rupert Murdoch to continue that legacy.

However Rupert Murdoch is 85 years old. And his children, who will take over completely when he passes, are nowhere near as politically conservative as either he or Ailes.

So the questions that needs to be asked is, how long will Fox News continue to be Fox News. And how can the Republican party survive without it?

tRump wants a network, maybe he will take that job? Better than being "president" with a VP running the country.

The xenophobic, racist, liberal bashing know-nothing drones Fox has molded into the dregs of society will still get their fill. I suspect they will stick with what brings in these idiots. New face, same slop.

I'm gonna crystal ball it here - if Trump loses in November he'll start up Trump Network with Ailes as his main man.

Ailes cannot work in tv broadcasting or else he forfeits his $40M

I am sure Murduck never heard a word about what was happening at Fox.

Wow. An asswipe gets to intimidate women at risk to their jobs; gets a golden parachute; and will serve as an advisor to Murdoch.

    Basically, he retired.

Remember he's being sued by a lot of high-earning women. He will find that parachute failing quickly when they start collecting from him.

  8. Ew gross, imagine this fat turd chasing you around a desk or dropping his drawers in front of you. I'm glad he's not gay.

That Fox is disassociating from him so quickly, trying to buy a portion of deniabiity, suggests they've always known and were willing to tolerate Ailes as long as sludge train didn't derail. Makes me wonder how many House members, maybe some still there, always knew about Hastert's dark past.

It's still Fox News, even without Ailes. I bet losing him won't make a bit of difference to their distorted coverage. Too much money at stake.

  11. Glad Ailes is gone, & it's going to cost Faux News millions of dollars to get rid of him....but how much do you want to bet that Murdoch knew about Ailes' creepiness towards women for years and years but did nothing...?

Yes, I believe that's a given, Murdoch knew everything but was just waiting for shit to hit the fan. That's how business works.

Of course Murdock knew. Multiple sexual harassment arbitration settlements say it is so.

There's talk that some of the big "stars" on Fox have it in their contracts that they can leave if Ailes does - Bill O'Reilly for one. Can see a Trump News Network with Ailes heading it and some of Trump's faves getting programs. And maybe it doesn't matter if he wins or loses in November - after all Pence wanted to create state run propaganda outlet - the Donald doesn't get all his ideas out of his brain (LOL) -

      There's probably non-compete clauses.

I'm sure Donnie would like nothing better than to head TNN, Trump News Network. He could star in every show AND control what is being said and reported.

With Melanoma out he could bang all the hot chicks.

      An Orange Ailes.

    No...
    the question is "who's next?"
Typically in an organization where sexual harassment is tolerated, it is also rampant.
So who's next to be accused/sued?
    Steve Douchebag?
    Bill O'Reilly? (Andrea Mackris)

  21. Anonymous1:09 PM

Guess what Ailes is going to do next? He's going to be an adviser to the Donald Trump campaign just like in the olden days advising Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon. Yippee. Not!

When asked about Ailes, Sarah said, "taste great, less filling".

  23. Anonymous1:15 PM

The NY Times has a piece today asking Chris Wallace and a bunch of other Fox MEN how they feel about Ailes leaving, and they're crying and say they love him still.
Greta Van Susteren was the only woman interviewed, and she's noncommittal. Maybe the women who Ailes didn't harass are embarrassed that they weren't.
But, as most women know, sexual harassment is rampant in work situations, although usually not as creepy as the Ailes allegations. Yuck.

i was watching Charlie Rose last night and the reporter that wrote the biography of the FAT PIG thinks he will be working behind the scenes as a media consultant for Trump!!!!

I seriously doubt FOX news is going to change, the owners aren't going anywhere, they are just doing damage control, so they will remain the GOP channel.
