Several Republican delegates are planning to bring their firearms to the convention in Cleveland. You know to fight ISIS and totally not because they feel naked without them.

"Be honest, does this gun make my dick look big?"
Courtesy of Mother Jones:

As the Republican convention in Cleveland approaches, several delegates from Pennsylvania who support Donald Trump say they are planning on bringing their guns with them to the GOP gathering. Why? They say they are worried about possible violent protest and even an attack from ISIS.

James Klein, a pro-Trump delegate from the Harrisburg area, notes that guns won't be needed inside the convention hall and that delegates won't be allowed to bring in weapons. "But," he adds, "there's the hotels. There's going to be dinners."

So Klein, an insurance executive and economist, has decided to come armed to Cleveland, and he has urged his fellow delegates to do the same. "We're talking about ISIS," he remarks, citing the recent shooting in Orlando and the bombings at the Istanbul airport. Referring to protesters outside Trump rallies, he adds, "We're talking about people who have shown a propensity for violence."

"There are a whole bunch of things happening: You go to various events, receptions, whatever, outside the convention hall," says Ash Khare, a delegate from the northwest corner of the state who applied for a concealed carry permit in preparation for Cleveland. "And you walk on the streets and, you know, people know that you are a delegate, and who knows what the crazy people are going to do? So you've got to be vigilant about what's going on and prepare yourself."

Yeah I think it's a safe bet to predict that somebody is going to get shot at the GOP convention.

I just hope it is one of these gun toting morons and not just some innocent bystander minding their own business.

For the life of me I don't understand why the GOP convention won't allow weapons> My goodness, just imagine how safe it would be inside with all those "good guys" carrying. I mean what if ISIS attacked them? You'd think the leadership in the GOP would practice what they preach.

    1. Anonymous3:24 PM

Whenever Donald Trump is present, it's the Secret Service that makes the call on weapons in the vicinity.

But I think the State of Ohio is allowing open carry for some places.

    2. Anonymous3:37 PM

Outside a diameter of about one mile around the convention center, it is open carry. Also, you can bring a weapon into a limited area even inside this circle. But you are not allowed to bring waterguns or sleeping bags.

    3. Anonymous4:37 PM

Here's a map of the "event zone".

Tennis balls are forbidden. Here's the complete City of Cleveland rules for the zone:

    4. Anonymous7:01 PM

Dakota Meyer is not going to miss this convention. He is never outgunned.

Wilson, This guy is a scumbag. A drain on society. Suing employers, chasing women for child support, and trying to spread a right wing agenda.

  2. ISIS loves The Donald. He's their best recruiting tool since Dubya bombed Iraq, torture, rendition, Guantanamo, el al.

  3. Anonymous2:39 PM

Male prostitutes in Cleveland are now more likely to get shot by their delegate "johns".

  4. Anonymous2:43 PM

Hopefully some of their splody heads will be splod'n when the gunfire erupts

  5. Elizabeth H3:05 PM

I would love for a fight to break out and countless people shot. Only when these people begin killing themselves in large numbers very rapidly will some good sense gun control laws be passed. They don't care about gay people or the children of Sandy Hook being slaughtered - it only matters when it affects them personally, so let the gunfire commence.

    1. Anonymous3:17 PM

The Democrats would get blamed anyway.

Even if the people responsible were registered GOP delegates, they would claim that they were secret leftist infiltrators, set out to make them good ol' Amurkan Chriss-chunn Patriots look bad.

The only thing that's going to make a difference is if members of Congress or bigwigs in the NRA are victims of gun violence. The lives of the rest of us just aren't that valuable - and I used that specific word deliberately because it all comes down to $$$.

    2. Anonymous3:38 PM

Why do you think that even in open carry states you cannot carry on a street where those a$$hats from Congress live? They make rules for everyone but themselves. They are always exempted.

    3. Carli5:25 PM

WTF is wrong with you?! I hate the GOP and am gleefully happy that they are imploding. But I would never wish them (or anyone else, for that matter) to be shot and wounded/killed.

Did Orlando turn you on? Because you sound like it did. You are a disgrace and you should be ashamed.

    4. Anonymous4:55 AM

Please don't wish for that- because people like myself still have to go to work in the middle of this mess, and WE'RE the ones who are likely to be injured or killed in what you're describing. Not the idiots toting around their penis extenders.

  6. Anonymous3:21 PM

"...You go to various events, receptions, whatever, outside the convention hall,..."

Oops. I can't quite see where this idiot added that he will only go where there is NO alcohol because every gun-humper knows rule number one is drinking and gun-totin' can be lethal.

  7. Anonymous3:21 PM

I just hope it is one of these gun toting morons and not just some innocent bystander minding their own business.

Agree. Ive visited Cleveland several times and have found the people have been wonderful and friendly. Hopefully the scaredy dicks keep their gunslinging to themselves.

  8. Anonymous3:23 PM

Not looking forward to this at all. :(

  9. Anonymous3:23 PM

"A day after House members learned that the drinking water in one of the Congressional office buildings had been shut off due to lead contamination, a bipartisan group of 61 representatives sent a letter to the Environmental Protection Agency demanding that it improve its lead regulations."

    ONE DAY.

The water problems in Flint, MI have been going on for over TWO YEARS.

    1. Well, it's obvious what the difference is: Congress doesn't work in Flint (or DC, but that's another post).

    2. Anonymous3:44 PM

      November. Vote.

  10. Anonymous3:34 PM

So, do these nincompoops know that they cannot carry onto an airplane? Do they know they have to go to a special counter and declare and give up their penis extenders? Do they know that some potential crooks can see them, and steal the guns out of their cases?
I am so glad that I don't live in Ohio, specifically Cleveland. That will be an OK Corral shoot-out happening ober there!

  11. Anonymous3:36 PM

I hope they shoot themselves in the foot.

  12. Anonymous3:37 PM

I hope this James Klein guy knows about "justification for using deadly force" - you can't just shoot someone because they're yelling at you.

  13. Anonymous3:39 PM

As seen in the story from Tennessee today one can kill with knives as well, not saying that guns are okay but if a person sets out to kill other people the type of weapon doesn't really matter.

That being said, this woman was 29 with 5 kids under age 7. Sounds as if she was mentally challenged and just breeding randomly and couldn't handle that amount of sad. Mental health treatment mixed with planned parenthood could have given this woman a reasonable life, one without an overburden of children that she was obviously unable to contend with.

    1. Well knives are also used for preparing food, cutting through rope or twine, opening packages, carving objects out of wood, and eating a steak.

What other uses do guns have besides killing again?

    2. Anonymous4:04 PM

Save it, anonymous 3:39pm. You forgot to bleat about hunting and the 2nd amendment, blah blah blah.

    3. Anonymous4:21 PM

Some people, like Levi and Sunny actually hunt for their food with guns, so there's that. I feel pretty sorry for the people that have to eat that crap but hey, life is not all Grass Fed Organic Angus Beef, right?

    4. Anonymous4:22 PM

"but if a person sets out to kill other people the type of weapon doesn't really matter."

If you and your family were in a mall or theater would you prefer a madman coming at you had a knife or AK47?

    5. Anonymous9:44 PM

      Dear 4:21,

Blah blah blah...Sunny and Levi hunt. Big goddam deal.

Guns are OK cause Sunny and Levi...blah blah blah.

Why don't you start your own ass kissing Johnston blog? There is way too much of that shit here already.

If Levi and Sunny were truly responsible gun owners they wouldn't have to squawk nonstop about how great they are.

  14. Just like they brought their guns to the Health Care Information meetings years ago. These people are just looking for trouble. Someone is going to get shot.

  15. Anonymous4:13 PM

What I see here is a clusterfuck . A bunch of morons who just discribed themselves as the shooters. They themselves are the threat!
Kill each other, sort them out later. Right, Sara paylin!
What a bunch of faux leaders and yellow bellied, ignorant hypocritical, politician's.

  16. Anonymous5:30 PM

Wow, watching "The Seige". Omg that will be tRumpf world. People vote anything but drumpf.

  17. Anonymous5:55 PM

These delegates are a bunch of wimps, why aren’t they protesting that their 2nd amendments rights have been taken away? What are they afraid of? They expect us to go to school, church and the mall exposed to gun nuts, but they are afraid to let guns into the convention. Surely they don’t think someone might shoot the wrong person.

I say let the AK47’s in!! Let them feel the fear!! Show us how to stop a suicide bomber with a gun. Show us how well alcohol and guns go together. Show us how the NRA owns the GOP.

  18. ""And you walk on the streets and, you know, people know that you are a delegate,'
No, they don't know you're a delegate. Oh, wait. You're wearing your name tag on its little lanyard around your neck?

Take it off and put it in your pocket, you damn fool.

    1. Anonymous11:50 AM

You think the name tags will give them away, aren't the white hoods, brown shirts and the swastikas the first clue?

  19. "I would think that if I were an ISIS guy that I might want to attack the Republican National Convention"
Why would ISIS waste the manpower or ammo? The republicans are doing an excellent job on their own destroying the their party and its convention.

  20. ""Be honest, does this gun make my dick look big?""
No. It's a piece of metal, not a miracle worker.

  21. Anonymous7:43 PM

time for the GOP circular firing squad. Again.

  22. Anonymous9:40 PM

Cleveland and the surrounding area is actually a lovely part of the country. It's a shame that who knows what ugliness will occur during the convention.

  23. Randall4:25 AM

"We're talking about people who have shown a propensity for violence."

...what - no mirrors in that room?

Eiron, the goddess of irony, laughed so hard she peed a lil bit.

  24. Anonymous11:10 AM

It's going to be entertaining when a few of them start shooting in the convention center or just outside. So many guns, so little brain, what could go wrong?

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
