Remember this Paul Ryan selfie from a few days ago?
Now take a look at this tweet from Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.
Which one looks more like America in the year 2016 to you?The Democratic Interns on Capitol Hill 2016 #DemInternSelfie pic.twitter.com/ZzUMl4hKoc— Sheila Jackson Lee (@JacksonLeeTX18) July 20, 2016
The future is ours my friends, we just have to wait for a few more of these crusty old white Republicans to kick the bucket and it will be basic human rights, universal health care, and debt free college tuition for everybody.
(H/T to Addicting Info.)
"A picture is worth a thousand words"...
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, crusty old white Republicans beget younger versions.
ReplyDeleteLooks like someone white washed Paul Ryan's picture. Was it photoshopped? :)
ReplyDeleteTo get these jobs requires a certain "in." They will become more diverse when they have to but right now the republicans want white, cute, right college/university and possible donating connections.
DeleteWhen I see Ryan all I can think of is "Jug Haid" Those ears, and the watery blue eyes are not attractibe at all. Throw in the widow's peak, and that completes the picture.
ReplyDeleteNice dream but the reality is that the Christo-Facists have been breeding like rabbits & homeskooling their children in the same radical uneducated nuttiness & those "kids" are doing the same.
ReplyDeleteAnd everyone mostly paying taxes.
ReplyDeleteO/t and crap cop reason for shooting a blk man with arms up and telling what is going on. Really?
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of something I heard on TV the other day. I walked into the room and barely caught it. A cable news channel host made a comment to a GOP guest about the whiteness of the convention. The guy saw no problem with the fact that few people were minority. The TV host made a comment about how the Democrats' delegation is so diverse. The guest commented that it's only because Dems HAVE to have minorities. He didn't explain that the Dems have worked diversity into their rules and they're happy to give everyone a fair shake, plus the "have to" made his side look even worse because the guy was suggesting that the GOP could get the minority count up but choose not to.
ReplyDeleteHe made it sound like some quota nd a bad thing. I wish I had that soundbite.
Sometimes there has to be quotas because old white men prefer cute girls with no education to well educated blacks. At one time I guess our Sara fit that mold.
DeleteExactly 5:42am! Affirmative action wouldn't even need to exist if there was truly equality. Since there isn't true equality, have some affirmative action, conservative bigots.
DeleteYou don't need the treatment if you're not sick in the first place, huh?
Affirmative action has ruined completely well running well oiled institutions. It is like throwing a bunch of mismatched and improperly machined gears and cogs into a perfectly running transmission... just cause it makes you feel better. Affirmative action was the beginning of the 'feel good' downhill slide for this country.
Deletewe already have "debt college tuition". i hope that was a typo.
ReplyDeleteI've had such a bellyful of Trump this week I feel like I'm living inside the 1976 movie "Network," unsure of what amalgamation Donald is of Howard Beale, Frank Hackett, Arthur Jensen and the Great Ahmet Khan.
ReplyDeleteThe insane fictional, charismatic character who had people shouting out of windows, "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore," has been unbelievably surpassed by a flesh and blood one spurring presumably modestly-educated Americans to bellow "Lock her up." No actionable wrongdoing, no charges, no trial, no conviction, but hell, 'lock her up.' Racist white cops killing unarmed black children? They can walk, but throw Hillary into maximum security.
Never mind popcorn, this house doesn't have even the therapeutic levels of booze it should.
Agree 100 percent!
DeleteI'm mad as Hell and I'm not going to take this anymore
Deletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGIY5Vyj4YM
"Network" is one of the best goddamn movies ever made! I like the connection you drew.
DeleteRyan is not even worth wasting my time . He doesn't have a clue?
ReplyDeleteThis picture is old news but I guess worth repeating. The bigotry is a red herring from trumps true ambitions.
ReplyDeleteSomehow I think that we should attack Trump on his NATO remarks and relationship to Putin. Kind of like how Palin went after Obama except Trump would like to rule the world with Putin-splitting the world. It sounds hyperbole but didn't Flynn, his possible vp get in big trouble for meeting with the Russians. Putin (and his staff) has been remaking himself for years just waiting for this opportunity. He also wants the Ukraine back. Trump will nuke the Ukraine first because it already has radiation problems so what's one more nuke and it will be his present to Putin. He may nuke Syria too because he can.
Nuclear weapons are his big dick.
And if you look at just how old they really are (mcconnell, mccain, drumpf, newt, etc) it really may not be that long. The BBros may get many of the things they want, just in a more realistic time frame.
ReplyDeleteEd Gruberman, you have failed to learn the lessons of Tai Kwan Leap. Boot to the head! fwap!
McConnell, hopefully, is the one that goes first! The guy is a racist pig from Kentucky.
DeleteI detest the man and despise how he constantly tried to abuse President Obama throughout his near completed two terms (because he was a half-black man!).
McConnell, a Republican, is the one that should be tarred and feathered and then driven through the streets of Washington D.C. - in the back of a truck for all to see!
McConnell has been one of the main Republican politicians (born and raised in the south - Kentucky) that helped bring back the resurgence of racism we are currently observing in our country!
Want to clarify that I'm white and have lived a long life into my later senior years!
It's serious folks. The GOP just nominated the Fourth Reich, Hitler part II.
ReplyDeleteWe have to get every Democrat registered to vote, and get those ballots counted in November
VOTE Democrats, VOTE! EVERY VOTE COUNTS!
It is CRUCIAL!
If you hate Hillary so be it. Understand though that governing and foreign policy subject matter experts, both republican and democrat feel that he is a threat to democracy as we know it.
ReplyDeleteThe media has been to blame for the constant negative ranting about Hillary Clinton for the past year! Cable TV has been a leader in the bashing of her!
DeleteIt's no fucking wonder her likable ratings dropped.
But, I still think she will be elected POTUS and I'm going to do everything I can, in my city and state, to see that she is!
She is a much better candidate than Don the Con ever thought of being - well qualified and ready to walk into the White House. Plus, I love the idea of having two Presidents Clinton residing in the White House.
Really, do the heartless republicans actually think they can pretend talented people of color can be totally ignored without insulting the entire nation? What is wrong with them? I used to actually admire Paul Ryan until I took a closer look and read some of his shocking policies positions. I was fooled by his faux tolerance, I suppose. It seems to be all about HIM and his expectation that he will one day be Potus.
ReplyDeleteEver noticed Ryan looks like the newest Sister WIves, the one Kody Brown's married to right now. The one named Robin.
DeletePaul Ryan looks like Robin Brown with a buzzcut and no make-up on.
I did spot one African-American in the Republican sea of white interns. I felt like I was playing "Where's Waldo"
ReplyDeleteAt the bottom of the white Republican intern application forms it reads.
ReplyDeletePEOPLE OF COLOR, THE DEMOCRATS ARE HIRING
That would be a great picture to put up on the jumbo-tron at the Democratic convention. I hope somebody uses it in a speech. Privilege vs opportunity.
ReplyDeleteHow did the one African-American get past Paul Ryan?
ReplyDeleteRyan's photo looks like a Wasilla High School class photo. Todd and his thug buddies would attack the one person of color.
ReplyDeleteIf that was Wasilla High, the Heaths and Palins in that picture would be pregnant. BUT, before they start to show they would be sent to their auntie's house for MONO.
DeleteWhite Amerika, don't get excited and complain and write to your Republican congressmen and wonen about the one colored in Paul Ryan's selfie. It ain't Paul's fault he was photobombed.
ReplyDeleteThe Republican Party's white intern picture reminds me of Private Gomer Pyle eating a box of Crackerjacks.
ReplyDelete"Sargent, SURPRISE SURPRISE SURPRISE. Lookie what I got"
I would be more impressed if the Democrat side was equally black and white.
ReplyDeletePUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
ReplyDeleteThe Republican Party will bring in one more colored intern within the next 5 years which will show that the Republican Party has doubled their number of coloreds and prove to President Hillary there is no reason to write an Executive Order to demand we diversify our white interns.
Keep in mind our plan to increase our colored interns will be accomplished in 5 years. So if we are successful in making Hillary a one term president, we will reserve the right to keep things as they are.
Pleading with Wisconsin to finally vote this creep out, just like they did with Cantor. The lazy, ignorant jerks in Kentucky threw away a great senator with Grimes and we have 4 more lousy years of Turtleman unless we can take back the Senate. This election must take back both the houses or we won't move forward. Dan Savage said it best on Bill Mahr's aftershow...the GOP is the author of all the misery Trump is complaining he needs to fix. That's how incredibly gullible these lemmings are. They listen to all the lies, elect these assholes and do nothing they promised...which leads to all this misery. Insanity
ReplyDeleteDon't feel too bad about Wisconsin as Alaska will vote Don Young and Lisa Murkowski back into office and despite protestations regarding our current Legislative failures the majority will vote exactly the same miscreants into office again.
DeleteThere are a lot more privileged white kids that can afford to do a lengthy unpaid internship in DC than there are black kids.
ReplyDelete8 months no pay and rents for even a studio near capitol hill are in the $3500/month. This is why interns tend to be white, private-schooled children from very wealthy families. It's a "gap-year" tradition for privileged white kids.
Notice, the black congresswoman has a preponderance of whites in her intern galley as well. She did put the black people in the front of the photo so people would notice, but still, her continent is 75% white.
There are some small grant opportunities to fund minority interns, and yes, there are a handful of minority kids whose parents can subsidize an internship that will cost them more than a year at a good college, but really you have to have rich parents and a lot of time on your hands because subsidized internships for minorities are few and far between.
