Even though the Republicans cannot bring themselves to support Donald Trump, they still intend to block everything Hillary Clinton tries to accomplish when she becomes President.

You bastards!
Courtesy of Raw Story:

Politico reports that Republicans who feel that Donald Trump is a doomed nominee are already looking past the election in November in order to make plans to block Hillary Clinton from doing anything that might remotely resemble a progressive agenda.

One GOP operative tells Politico that it will work to block her Supreme Court nominees by targeting vulnerable Democrats who live in states where her agenda is unpopular.

“Take Joe Manchin in West Virginia,” the operative said. “If Hillary puts up an anti-coal pro-EPA judge for the Supreme Court, the smart play is to start pressuring him with an advocacy campaign to vote no.”

Another anonymous GOP staffer, meanwhile, pledged to use the same obstructionist tactics against Clinton that the party has used with such success against President Obama.

“If she wins, her four years will look a lot like the last six years of Obama,” the staffer said. “She’s talking about things the president couldn’t get done, why does she think she will have more luck?”

And Dan Holler, communications director at the conservative Heritage Action for America, says that he sees no reason for Republicans to do anything she wants.

“There is a long history of Republicans opposing pretty much everything Hillary Clinton has done, from trying to reform healthcare in the 1990s to what she was doing as secretary of state,” he said. “There’s a long memory there.”

Yeah, but it really does not make any difference whether it is Hillary or not.

The Republicans realize that right now they cannot win the White House, so if they are going to the the opposition party they are going to turn that opposition up to eleven.

It used to irritate me to no end that certain folks had convinced themselves that Bernie Sanders would be able to push through progress policies easier than Hillary Clinton.

Really? On what planet would that happen?

All the Republicans would have to do is start throwing around the word "socialist" and not one GOP Congressman or Senator would have anything to do with it, and any Democrat from a district or state that was not dark navy blue would stay as far away from Bernie as humanly possible.

In many ways Hillary is in a similar predicament except that she more politically adept and knows how things work in Washington better than just about anybody.

Still the only way to ensure that we do not start this next presidency by reliving the last he years of the Obama presidency is to help the Democrats take back control of the Senate.

And that is not only doable, but it is becoming more and more likely.

How dense are these Repulicans? (Dumb question, I know.)

Won't they ever wise up to their role in making the country's disgust for the do-nothing Congress? They would be better to let Democratic legislation pass, and then fail. If it fails, they were right. But, the problem is, it probably would be successful, so they would never get a chance to be right. Poor stupid Republicans. We just HAVE to get them out of power for this country to be all it can be.

With good campaigning, they won't wise up until after they have lost the election … badly.

      GET OUT THE VOTE!

@ 7:15 you do realize that it is teh ReTHUGS (and teabaggers) who want more in the form of block grants to states to adminster, which is where the abuse in the program is, as the Michigan example in the article points out?

“Welfare Family Caps are prima facie offensive, ineffective, and harmful,” Adams said.

No, they aren't. They often give women who may be fighting religious bans (Xtianist Quiverfull, RCC and Muslim bans on birth control) great cover to use BC.

Not to mention, TANF allows the buildign of a family next egg and is incremental in reducing benefits as a person on welfare begins to work in the wage paying industry - saving is rewarded instead of being punished. Same for working. This is especially important with our non viable minimum wage.

And to do that, we need to GOTV so get your butts out from behind that computer, contact your local DEM office and get out there - NOW! On election day, call bank (you can do this from your own home and cell phone) or volunteer to drive people to the polls. Or urge them to vote absentee ahead of time.

Then you have Alaska where the AK Dem. Party leadership is backing independent candidate for Senate instead of the Democratic candidate who won the AK primary. That is some crazy stuff!

"This lackluster turnout took place at a school which in fall 2015 registered just 294 students"to make the point that the Christian college did not support the Republican ticket.
continued out in the street outside Patrick Henry College’s main entrance, where students held signs reading “PHC is Not Trump Country,” “Immigrants Make America Great” and “For Christ and Liberty, Not Bigotry And Idiocy.”

At this point, I don't think it would matter if it were any Democrat running for president be they male, female, black, white, red, brown, yellow, Christian, Muslim, Jewish, atheist or whatever.... If they have a D after their name, the R's are going to try and make it as impossible as they can to be an effective leader of this country.
THAT is how truly horrific they have become. They need to be voted out... every single damned one of them.

The big difference between Hillary Clinton and President Obama is that Obama is just too nice. As President, Hillary Clinton will rip the Republicans' balls off and make them eat them. She is smart and a fighter.

The first one who needs emasculating is Mitch McConnell. He's the worst of the lot.

They blocked President Obama with a Majority GOP. They will lose that majority with Trump.

The Republicans do not love America. They are with Putin, and want to bring to the system so that women will not choose. They get richer. Minorities are shut down. The list goes on. Somehow Russia's political views became aligned with the Republicans. In their hands America has become unrecognizable. Trump is just the nail that will seal our coffin.

I think blocking the supreme court nominee was part of their despicable strategy to force Hillary to expend a good part of her limited political capital on a knock-down-drag_out fight to fill the vacancy right in the first few months of her term.

I'm starting to feel confident that we're going to take back the Senate, though not nearly with a filibuster proof majority. That's what we really need.

The house is the bigger problem. As long as the repubs have the house, they will endlessly obstruct any legislation and, worse IMHO, will gin up endless investigations, just like they did with Bill Clinton. False scandal, one after another.

We have got to take back the House. I know it won't happen this election cycle, but we have to do it if we are ever going to reclaim our democracy from these vile, evil people who are bent on destroying it.

Well, enacting this plan will only help the Democrats to take back the House after retaking the Senate. They haven't been listening to their own voters who are tired of obstruction and of them taking taxpayer money for doing nothing. People, all people. are tired of the deadlock.

If they're smart they will confirm Merrick Garland before the end of Obama's term, like, right after the votes are in and Hillary is the winner. Better the devil you know and there is no telling who Hillary might nominate in place of Garland. If they sit on her nominee they are doomed.

Here's an interesting 'tidbit' for IM readers:

"4th mysterious death connected to the DNC in less than a month"....ready oh Hillary Clinton lovers and haters of guns?

    Here we go:

Democractic staffer, SETH CONRAD RICH, only 27 years old, was shot in his back multiple times on his way to meet with the FBI to discuss election fraud on July 10, 2016.

UN official, JOHN ASHE, died suspiciously the day before he was set up to testify as a top official against the DNC and Hillary Clinton on June 22, 2016.

VICTOR THORN, author of books exposing the Clintons, found of a gunshot wound on a moutaintop near his home on August 2, 2016.

SHAWN LUCAS, lead attorney in the Anti-Clinton DNC FRAUD case and a Bernie Sanders supporter found dead at his home on August 4, 2016.

Coincidence? Of course not. But you sick asses at IM don't have two brain cells to rub together to think these DEATHS were just random. On a scale of 1-10, your ignorance is 100.

  15. Anonymous 12:42 PM - Trump friend Vladimir Putin has been killing journalists right and left who criticize his regime.
He'd probably not hesitate to help his American puppet get elected by sending assassins to kill relatively unimportant people who've been connected to either Hillary or the Dem party, with the purpose of prompting RW propaganda media (Drudge, Infowars, Daily Caller) to hype a conspiracy theory?

I expect the Clintons have gathered more than enough information to make a good many Rs offers they can't refuse. Just as Hillary did to Bill.

This is going to backfire on them even more so than now.

People are already refusing to vote for do-nothing Republican congresspeople running for re-election because they are taking taxpayer money and not doing their jobs.

If they continue this they will simply lose even more seats.

It will, however, be a great barometer on Hillary Clinton. Obama had to put up with this shit for six years and still look at what he accomplished. Will she be able to do the same under the same conditions?
