John Oliver explains how Donald Trump can be a hero.

Courtesy of Rolling Stone:

With Donald Trump struggling in the polls, John Oliver sees three options for the controversial GOP nominee: He can eventually lose – a "disastrous" option since "his entire brand is built around not doing that." He can eventually win – an even worse outcome because that would involve "living in government housing, conversing with fully clothed women and traveling in a plane that doesn't even have his name on it." This leaves what Oliver considers a more noble, revolutionary third option: dropping out.

"Simply drop out and tell America this entire candidacy was a stunt, a satire designed to expose the flaws in the system," Oliver told the Republican. "And the thing is, you could actually make a fairly decent case for that. Because, although your campaign was the political equivalent of a bigoted clown's blazing funeral pyre, you have accidentally made upwards of four good points in your campaign."

Oliver then goes on to lay out those four good points:

1: The political system is broken.

2: The media focuses too much on controversy and not enough on substance.

3: Politicians will do anything to appease their base.

4: And finally that American voters are easily duped.

I know this video is almost a week old now, but that is only because it took me that long to actually watch it.

I started to receive it in the comments section and in e-mails after I posted this video of Oliver taking on charter schools on Tuesday.

At the time I thought well since I just posted one John Oliver video I probably should not post another one, that is just lazy.

But then I finally watched it yesterday and I thought "Holy crap! This is genius!"

And that is why you find it posted this evening.

Not only that it absolutely reflects what I have been secretly hoping for myself almost since the moment I realized that Donald Trump was going to win the GOP nomination.

And Oliver is right, if Trump were to do this he would go down in history as a legend.

Sure the Republicans might hate him, but really they would only have themselves to blame.

I say go for it, and if he does I swear that I will even sit down and watch every episode of "The Apprentice."

Not YET. The GOP would either elevate Pence, or Ryan, or baby-face Rubio. They would all lose, but I can see Preibus arguing that none of them should have to debate because 'unfair media.' He has to wait until the very end.

Oh yeah, I'm just waiting for the debates. Watch who will refuse to, and I can guarantee you that it won't be Hillary. dRUMPf has already put out the, "if I don't win, it's rigged" to pound into heads.

Remember Dubya and his wire? Remember Romney sweating bullets and going back to pick up his cheat notes afterward?

They KNOW Hillary will destroy him, and there's the rub. A strong woman that knows her stuff not coming across like a bitch.

Like Biden in '08, "oh, this is just too easy," for the know-nothing across from him, yet appear to destroy the sad sack, inexperienced female.

"You owe me," when he got offstage. He could have had her for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner!

"Never use info you are told or heard to attack someone."

The best advice anyone can heed. The world will be a nicer place if more people did. Though radar, NE, wonkette, tmz and gawker (all immoral sites) would have to cease for the world to be nicer.

You must be some special kind of stupid. Yeah, let's lie down so people can run over us in their quest for glory and domination. Not on my watch. I have a voice and I have a vote.

Melania is upset several news outlets called her a “former escort” because the word “former” implies that she isn’t one anymore.

I love John Oliver! He gets a lot of flack from the haters but he's chill with it. I highly recommend the three episodes where he literally started his own church. Don't let Sarah know how easy it is. But, yeah, this episode is pretty funny. Now I have to read that book.

Along with the book Oliver recommends that Trump read (or have read to him, condensed and explained) I suggest to the rest of us "I am a Genius of Unspeakable Evil and I want to be your Class President."

He does lose in the end but he learns some valuable lessons and grows up a bit.

BalancedRebellion.com came up with a system that allows Republicans and Democrats who mutually hate their candidates come together to vote for Johnson, and balance out the scales so that neither party gets the benefit of a lopsided vote. It's a pretty fun system that pairs you with a Democrat in your area, and makes you feel better about leaving your party to vote for Johnson.

But while the site alone is a pretty good idea, it's the video promoting the site that sells.

When does he want Donnie to drop out, because we could end up with some one worse like Cruz.
