The daughter of Ronald Reagan speaks out about Donald Trump's careless language.

Courtesy of ABC News:

In a Facebook post directed at the Republican presidential candidate, President Ronald Reagan's daughter blasted Donald's Trump's "glib and horrifying comment" on the Second Amendment.

"I am the daughter of a man who was shot by someone who got his inspiration from a movie," the post by Patti Davis begins, referring to the 1981 assassination attempt on Reagan by John Hinckley Jr.

Remember this is the daughter of Saint Ronnie.

And even though she is seen by many as a liberal I am sure that her words hit home for a lot of the older more establishment Republicans still struggling with the decision of whether to support Donald Trump or not in the general.

And if that were not enough to sway them, there is also this piece in the Dallas Observer comparing the mood of the country to the one that existed in Texas when JFK was shot.

Donald Trump thinks he can incite violence and then deflect criticism by saying that he was just kidding or being sarcastic, but once a bullet fires from a gun to take a life there are is simply no taking that back.

Here's what I can see from my porch. Any and all republicans are about to engage each other in a battle (2nd amendment?) to end all battles. The GOP may not exist as we know it after that occurs.

It's one thing to engage, quite another to talk "revolution" from behind a computer screen. I'm going with cowardice, 66, if Palin/Meyer is any indication.

    Thank you Patti Davis.

To think that John McCain supports that a-hole Trump. McCain has always been a jerk. Nancy Reagan was right about him, too bad she couldn't talk.

If the public had more truth, they may have skipped the part about having McCain run to be president. There would have been no Sarah Palin on the national stage.

People need to exercise first amendment rights.

    Use it or lose it.

      It's spreading to other media.

Trump actively seeks attention and turmoil. Violent rhetoric "worked" in that it got him notice in the news cycle. Trump does not distinguish between good and bad news coverage. It's ALL good to Trump.

I think Trump will continue to return to violent imagery whenever nothing else will get him in the news.

It's not dementia. It is a mental illness. More of an aberrant personality disorder.

And no, he can't control himself. Not for very long.

They talk to him. On some level he may even agree. He probably promises to change and he tries, he really does. But after a day or two he just slips back into the same old Donald Trump.

He is a sick and twisted man who should have never gotten into the position of a presidential candidate. And the GOP knew and did nothing to stop him.

Yeah, the daughter of a president who was shot, and who went on to announce an impending attack on the USSR on an open mic. Probably not the best guy to bring up when chastising someone for speaking carelessly unless you're bringing him into the conversation as someone who set a bad example.

Thank you, Patti Davis. It took courage, especially as the daughter of a widely-revered GOP President, to stand up and speak out against this.

I know Gabrielle Giffords also made a Twitter statement about this. But I personally would enjoy it if Gabby and Mark Kelly just cut loose on Trump.

BTW, I watched Gabby's speech at the DNC. Considering what happened to her, I was amazed at well she spoke.

    And just tonight Trump
    1) advised his followers to be vigilantes at polling places
    2) intimated that dangerous refugees were being hidden in their neighborhoods.

Any Republican who doesn't refute this evil deserves to be defeated.

Hillary Clinton Is Tossing a Lifeline to Down-Ballot GOPers, but Is Pulling Punches Against Conservatism a Smart Idea?
On Thursday, Clinton's campaign launched Together for America, an outreach effort created specifically to attract GOP defectors.

Hate Trump? You Should Still Hold Clinton's Feet to the Fire

It will make Hillary Clinton a stronger candidate if she’s held accountable for her past and for her actions. Oh, and it’s not a vote for Donald Trump

Here’s a news flash: if you’re a progressive, you can and should critique Hillary Clinton right now – and that doesn’t have to mean that you want Donald Trump to be president.

It means we are still using our brains, “That we are not checkmated,” as Michelle Alexander puts it, that engaging in discourse is not just possible, but necessary in a race with less than terrific choices. No matter who you ultimately vote for, don’t stop demanding a candidate endorse policies that benefit you in order to get your support, even if you vote for them.

Clinton should be pushed relentlessly by the left on her economic policies and history, for starters.

We have held Hillary Clinton's feet to the fire. Here is the choice Trump or Clinton.

I am not going into what drove her to stay with her husband. And that's the flaw she has for a lot of women. Look at the Kennedy's.

When strong women are called to make a decision and they know what they married they have called the shots, it's not my place to judge at this level. Would i put up with it? No, but i am not running for President.

This is what Hillary Clinton understands and it also makes her a fighter, a leader and her husbands days of nookie are gone. And now as they are older i think they are a team, a team that wants to leave a mark as the best of America and we are still great and we never lost our resolve. We never not rise to a challenged.

So "F" Trump who thinks we are not great now. I will not vote for anyone who has lost faith in the United States. "Make America Great Again" as a slogan is an insult. We are great and make no mistake Trump is insulting all the vets that gave their lives to keep America great.

You tell me America is not great right now and vets will kick his 4 time bone spur in my foot ass.

Trump has no idea what he meant.

Every day he shits out of his mouth and throws it against the wall to see what sticks. Then doubles down. The denies. Then blames.

It's the same old insanity day in and day out.

More and more people have his number and are getting tired of it.

That is why he is losing more and more each day. People are tired of his schtick and are being turned off.

He won't win with just his rabid core. There aren't enough of them.

Trump “Well, I know that they want to try them [American citizens accused of terrorism] in our regular court systems, and I don’t like that at all. I don’t like that at all. I would say they could be tried there [at Guantanamo Bay, under military authority]. That would be fine.”
We have long since passed the point where Trump’s tendency to fascism can be ignored.

We have long since passed the point where the repeated, daily now, multiple warning signs can be dismissed as sarcasm, or jokes, or Trump just being Trump.

He has authored weekly columns in local newspapers on the horrors of gun free zones, published widely-distributed books on the ostensible benefits of right-to-carry laws, and his newest book The War on Guns has received rave reviews by prominent conservatives, like Sen.
