Alicia Machado responds to Donald Trump's Tweet storm last night.

I don't speak Spanish either so here it is in English:

“The Republican candidate and his campaign team are again generating attacks, insults and trying to revive slanders and false accusations about my life. All this in order to intimidate, humiliate me and throw me off balance again. The attacks that have emerged are slander and lies cheap generated with bad intentions, which have no foundation that have been spread by sensationalist media. This, of course, is not the first time that I faced such a situation. Through their hate campaign, the Republican candidate insists discredit and demoralize a woman, which is definitely one of the most terrifying features. With this, they are seeking to distract attention from their real problems and [Trump’s] inability to pretend to be the leader of this great country. When I was a young girl, the now candidate humiliated, insulted me, disrespected me publicly, as he usually did privately in the cruelest way. As this happened to me, it is clear over the years that their actions and behavior have been repeated with other women for decades. Therefore, I will keep standing, sharing my story. I absolutely support Mrs. Clinton on behalf of women, my sisters, aunts, grandmothers, cousins, friends and female community. My Latin and in general, I want to thank all the support, love and respect, my career, my person as a human being and my family. I became a citizen of this great country because my daughter was born here and because I wanted to exercise my rights, including voting. I will continue standing firm in my lived experience as Miss Universe and you with me supporting me. I’ve been so pleased with many kind words, for so much love. I’m focusing on my busy career, in my work as mother and I will continue taking positive steps for the Latino community, I will continue as activist for women’s rights and respect we deserve. I appreciate all your love and all your support again, thanks. “Thousands of blessings.

Hillary Clinton also weighed in on Trump's tweets.

Who indeed?

Like I said I think Trump's misogyny is going to be the thing that really turns voters against him in this election.

And the best part is that he clearly cannot help but provide fodder for those going after him over it.

Why Donald Trump can't stop feuding with Alicia Machado, explained

Hillary Clinton knew exactly what she was doing at the first presidential debate when she mentioned Alicia Machado, the Venezuelan Miss Universe who provoked Donald Trump’s ire in the 1990s by gaining weight.

She wasn’t just depicting Trump as a creep who “hangs around beauty pageants” and who insults women (he called Machado “Miss Piggy”) and Hispanic immigrants (he also called her “Miss Housekeeper”). She wasn’t just using Machado, who became an American citizen this year, to urge people to register to vote. She was hoping to draw her opponent into one of his signature self-inflicted damaging news cycles.

And it worked. Trump has been relentlessly, publicly attacking Machado all week, most recently in a string of tweets at 5 am. His reaction proves he’s easy to bait, and demonstrates how badly Trump’s life experiences — his business career and his reality TV show — have prepared him for the presidency.

    Hillary Clinton Takes Your Questions

As part of Glamour’s ongoing 51 Million Voices campaign, we asked female Democrats, Independents, and Republicans to submit their top queries, then sent them to Clinton. Perhaps surprisingly—debate moderators, take note!—women asked less about topics that typically dominate the news, like Clinton’s email server, and more about the issues that affect your everyday lives: your paycheck, your family, your safety.

... key Senate Republicans getting grilled over Donald Trump's Miss Universe comments say they either weren't watching or don't have an opinion on one of the night's signature moments.

"I didn't get to see it. I was traveling back from Utah. Stupid plane wouldn't let us tie into CNN. So I felt bad about that. I'm going to talk to them," Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch said.

"I didn't see it guys, I was on an airplane," Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, one of Trump's former GOP primary rivals, told reporters.

Sen Ted Cruz, who only fully embraced Trump last Friday, didn't want to talk to reporters.
"We put out a statement last night," he told CNN, as he ran into the Senate chamber.
Those who claimed to missed the debate had it the easiest.

As they have all year long, GOP lawmakers have been in a bind as they were forced to confront the latest controversial statement from Trump.

    1. Anonymous4:04 PM

What a bunch of spineless wimps. They wouldn't be forced to confront the latest controversial statement from Trump if they had the moral and ethical character to shut him down in the primaries. They spent more time trying to stay out his line of fire than thinking about the good of the country.

Hillary has done something those wimps couldn't and can't do, take on the Donald and save our democracy from the mentally ill.

I have the feeling there is going to be a lot of republicans on airplanes in October and a lot of moving trucks in DC come January.

If she was an "eating machine" and gained 60-70 lbs in a matter of months when she was 20, she'd be heavy now, 15 years later.

    She's not.

Because she is at a healthy weight for her height and age. And I'll bet it is around 135-140 lbs. About 15-20 lbs more than she weighed when she was 19.

Alicia Machado is a double-edged sword against Trump.

She is a woman he abused and so will lose him votes the longer he rants against and continues to abuse her.

She is also Latina. So he will also lose the Hispanic vote. Those he hasn't lost already. She will be working to get out the Latino vote against Trump and for Clinton.

This is the man who is busy waging a Twitter attack on a young woman for posing in Playboy and allegedly making a (nonexistent) sex tape? How hypocritical.

  34. Anonymous3:48 PM

Nate Silver is ready to say that Hillary Clinton's debate performance is helping her in swing states.

"Here’s what I wrote on Thursday about what we might expect to see in swing state polls, assuming that Clinton led Trump by 3 to 5 percentage points nationally, as national polls seem to show:

A 4- to 8-point lead in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Colorado, Virginia, Wisconsin and Michigan, which have been slightly bluer than the national average this cycle.

Somewhere between a tie and a 4-point Clinton lead in Florida and North Carolina, which have been slightly redder than the national average.

A roughly tied race in Ohio and Iowa, which have been significantly redder than the national average.
So, what data have we gotten since then?

In New Hampshire, a MassINC Polling Group poll (live caller) had Clinton up by 7 points.

In Michigan, a Glengariff Group poll (live caller) had Clinton up by 7 points.

In Florida, a Mason-Dixon poll (live caller) had Clinton up by 4 points.

Also in Florida, an Opinion Savvy poll (conducted by automated telephone and online) had the race essentially tied (Clinton up by 0.3 points).

And finally, in Nevada, a Suffolk University poll (live caller) had Clinton ahead by 6 points."

Nevada is flipping blue, Florida is drifting blue. Even North Carolina is starting to swing a bit blue.

301 electoral votes with 47% of the popular vote.

    Trump isn't looking so good.

236 electoral and 44% of the popular vote.

Clinton now has a 67% chance of winning against Trump's 32% chance of winning.

I think he's really going to put a stake through his campaign at the next debate. I suspect he'll try attacking Clinton on her e-mails and Bill's adultery. She'll turn the tide quickly and deftly. And Trump will be shown for the coarse bully he is.

    1. Anonymous9:43 PM

I think, these polls have not yet taken the Cuba issue into account. Now that it has been established, that he spent - illegally - $68K in the 1990s in Cuba, I am pretty sure he has lost the vast Cuban community in Miami and in Florida in general!

We went to a rally here in Traverse City MI that featured Chelsea Clinton this afternoon. Lots of people there. Chelsea Clinton did a great job. She spoke in general terms for a while and then fielded lots of questions and comment from the audience. She is very articulate and thoughtful towards the persons asking questions. Great afternoon. Now to get through the next few weeks.

By the way, while we were waiting to get into the auditorium, some people behind us overheard two men: one said to the other that he would get in line if Trump Jr. were in town and the other one suggested that someone should liven up the crowd by shooting a gun into the air. Gosh, Republicans are such quality people, aren't they?

Besides, all of us standing in line were having a great time and did not need to be "livened up": it's always good to be surrounded by those who feel the same way you do. Here, where the GOP pretty much reigns supreme, we Democrats sometimes feel very isolated.

She's draped in a flag that's dragging the ground in that photo above.

She wraps herself in the U.S. Flag in the one at the top of this story.

What gives with people using the flag as a blanket???!!!

I suspect they don't teach flag etiquette anymore. And it makes for a colorful, dramatic photo.

    2. Anonymous7:12 PM

6:42, it's a bit disrespectful, according to protocol, but it is a piece of cloth. Not disastrous in the scheme of what is going on in this country right now.

    3. Anonymous7:27 PM

I see no flag dragging on the ground. Even if it did touch the ground, so many who claim to love this country more than anything have let the flag touch the ground as they've engaged in using it in a decorative way. And these have often been the same people who would do anything to publicly--when being watched by a camera--stop the flag from being burned or from touching the ground, but that flag could be right next to someone starving or hurting in some way and the flag lovers would choose to protect the cloth rather than help an actual human being.

    4. Anonymous7:33 PM

I see nothing sleazy in the photo. Machado's wrapped in the flag with pride. She's not looking like so many other females who have posed provocatively in the flag. What I see is someone who might be naked, and if she is it's to get across that she stands there wrapped protectively and with pride and without the humiliation that certain people are trying to make her feel. She's embracing the flag, embracing America. She's barely showing any akin and her hand placement might appear to cup a breast but it more so looks like someone with her hand over her heart in respect. As well, the photo reminds me of the kind of Lady Liberty pictures and sculptures you see in art, including on our coins--and there, there is an exposed breast and it's not sexual in the way some people always see breasts (ah, the oxymoron of puritanical pervs).

    5. Anonymous7:43 PM

If she is gonna wrap herself in our flag the least she could do is write in English.

      I agree, 7:33.

    8. Anonymous7:13 PM

3:20 I don't think Olympic athletes should drape themselves in the flag. Sets a bad example.

If we want it to be OK to drape one's self in the flag. Fine. Let's all be on the same page.

If not, let's not make it OK to do it.

Why not cradle the flag? That shows respect, love and caring.

ps, and also, too. It seems it's OK for Machado and Olympic athletes to drape themselves in the flag, but not You-Know-Who.

I say all or nothing. Either way, I'm fine with it. Just pointing out some hypocrisy.

And, yes, I can see more than one side of this and can understand why many see this, especially since she's an immigrant, as a beautiful photo and expressive of her journey.

    -Donald Trump

Clean up in Trump Tower movie/video room... bring pressure washer and Hazmat suits

    Huffington Post

Your daily dose of *ugh vomiting forever* comes courtesy of an old Howard Stern interview with Donald Trump.

While Trump was discussing women he did or did not find attractive, he brought up Paris Hilton, a friend of his daughter Ivanka’s.

“Now, somebody who a lot of people don’t give credit to but in actuality is really beautiful is Paris Hilton,” he said. “I’ve known Paris Hilton from the time she’s 12, her parents are friends of mine, and the first time I saw her she walked into the room and I said, ‘Who the hell is that?’

Did you wanna bang her?” Stern asked.

“Well, at 12, I wasn’t interested,” Trump said, “I’ve never been into that ... but she was beautiful.”

He then went on to call Hilton “dumb like a fox” and admitted that he had watched her sex tape.

This kind of comment is unsurprising coming from a man who has weighed in on the appearance of seemingly everyone from his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton to supermodel Heidi Klum. He also infamously told The View in 2006 that if Ivanka wasn’t his daughter, “perhaps I would be dating her.”

Editor’s note: Donald Trump regularly incites political violence and is a serial liar, rampant xenophobe, racist, misogynist and birther who has repeatedly pledged to ban all Muslims — 1.6 billion members of an entire religion — from entering the U.S

    1. Anonymous7:48 PM

Trump should have made a face and squirmed when Stern asked if he wanted to bang Paris as a preteen, but of course Trump didn't. Ick.

  47. Anonymous7:35 PM

So Melania watched Paris Hilton's sex tape? The same naked Melania who was skin to skin with that naked lady? That must have gotten the Donald hot. Was he thinking if I dropped Marla Maples and marry Melania, she will bring her friends home so he can watch?

    1. Anonymous7:47 PM

On Stern's show he said it was Melania who gave him the tape! I bet SHE was hot watching Paris. If she then had sex with Trump, Melanis may have experienced her one and only orgasm during sex with the pig. Hah, that may have even been the night she conceived Barron. She probably silently thanked Paris for making it possible for her to endure sex with Trump--she probably recalled the tape every time she had sex with Trump again.

"Is this what keeps you up at night, @realDonaldTrump? Thinking of new & interesting ways to call women fat or ugly or sluts?"

"You never tweet at 3am with ways to help students getting crushed by debt or seniors struggling on Social Security,"

"You never tweet at 3am with ways to create new jobs for workers or hold Wall Street accountable,"

"Nope, @realDonaldTrump: the only things that keep your mind racing at night are your next racist, sexist tweets & disgusting lies."

"A thin-skinned bully who thinks humiliating women at 3am qualifies him to be President does not understand America & is not fit to lead."

Basically the Democrats let Trump hang himself this week. He ranted about Machado and his broken microphone all week. Finally today, Hillary, Elizabeth and Bernie took him down.

I expect Kellyanne is going to take his phone away again. He's on restriction for a few days to think about what he's done and what he will do differently in the future. Until then, no more 3am tweets. (Unless she can't control him anymore either. )

Isn't this the guy who is supposed to be cramming for his next debate? Instead he's up at 3am attacking a 1996 beauty queen.

What a sicko. Trump was 47 when Paris was 12. When he saw her he said, "Who the hell is that?" What adult, let alone a middle aged male, uses those words when he sees a child who he thinks is very cute or pretty? A normal person would say, "Who's that pretty girl?" or "Whose daughter is that very cute little girl?" but he talked about a 12-year-old using the kind of line he'd use for an adult female he saw sexually. ICK ICK ICK.

And on Stern's show Trump also said that Melania got hold of the sex tape and then she and he watched it together. This woman should be FLOTUS?!

So Donald was checking out Paris.
Did that make Ivanka jealous enough for her to sit between daddy's thighs and stroke his face ever so softly? Hope that wasn't the scenario for the daddy and daughter picture next to the statue of two birds doing it like doggies?

"Trump admitted that he and his then-girlfriend EAGERLY watched Paris Hilton’s grainy video together."“I’ve known Paris Hilton from the time she’s 12, her parents are friends of mine, and the first time I saw her she walked into the room and I said, ‘Who the hell is that?’ At 12, I wasn’t interested… but she was beautiful.”

Ah, this thread reminds me of a thread on IM a while ago...

The softcore porn film has been found!

Only problem is, Alicia Machado isn't in it.

    Donald Trump is.

... Republican leaders and strategists are unnerved by Donald Trump’s erratic attacks on a Latina beauty queen and other outbursts this week, increasingly fearful that the GOP nominee is damaging his White House hopes and doing lasting harm to the party in the campaign’s final stretch.

Party officials said they are newly embarrassed by Trump’s impulsive behavior and exasperated by his inability to concentrate on his change message and frame the race as a referendum on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, according to interviews with more than two dozen of them...

    OT? Little prick #2>
“It looks bad. The question is, who’s benefitting?”

Perhaps Hillary has a 13 year old volunteer who could engage in this stupid twatter war with Drumpf. It's beneath her to stoop to his level with this nonsense.

President? I wouldn't want that douchenozzle as a next-door neighbor let alone a powerful elected official. He's one seriously fucked-up dude.

Eight TACO trucks are now registering voters in Houston.

This woman, with her broken English and shady past, could very well be the US citizen who saves this country. I believe she was well aware of the dirt that would be dug up on her if she put herself out there. But she also knew she'd shine a light on the vile person that is The Donald.

I think Donald is pissed that today Alicia Machado looks better than Melania. Alicia is a true beauty. Even at almost 40 years old.

Melania is about 46. Not that much older. But compare the two side by side. Years of abuse will wear on a person. I think you see it in Melania's face.

I think perhaps Donald tried to boink the hispanic beauty queen and was rebuffed.
    Smart girl.

    1. I'm sure Trump believes as owner of the pageant that he has droit de seigneur rights over each newly crowned Miss Universe. Perhaps Miss Machado didn't go along with his imagined rights.

I haven’t seen this soap opera that has scandalized little Donnie, however I do know that foreign tv programs are more explicit than American network tv.

I remember RAI, Italy in the 80’s had variety shows with topless women.

Don't feed the trolls!
It just goes directly to their thighs.
