Senator Elizabeth Warren tears Wells Fargo CEO into tiny bite size pieces, and it is a thing of beauty.

Courtesy of UPROXX:

During a Senate Banking Committee hearing, Senator Warren joined panel Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) and others to grill Stumpf about his knowledge of and participation in the scam. Warren’s cross-examination was particularly tense, as the senator had to repeat her questions three or four times before they were answered to her satisfaction.

“Mr. Stumpf, the Wells Fargo Vision and Values statement, which you frequently cite, says ‘We believe in values lived not phrases memorized. If you want to find out how strong a company’s ethics are, don’t listen to what its people say, watch what they do.'” Warren quoted. “So, let’s do that. Since this massive years-long scam came to light you have said repeatedly, ‘I am accountable.’ But what have you actually done to hold yourself accountable? Have you resigned as CEO or chairman of Wells Fargo?” Stumpf admitted that he had not resigned, nor had he returned any of his earnings to the company or fired any top executives.

“You haven’t resigned, you haven’t returned a single nickel of your personal earnings, you haven’t fired a single senior executive,” Warren said. “Instead, evidently, your definition of ‘accountable’ is to push the blame to your low-level employees who don’t have the money for a fancy PR firm to defend themselves. It’s gutless leadership.”

The reason that Strumpf finds himself being treated like a puppy's chew toy by Elizabeth Warren is because his company just paid a 185 million dollar fine for opening fake accounts for its customers in order to make a profit without their knowledge.

This is fraud, and if Senator Warren hates anything, it's fraud.

I don't know about all of you but I could not help fantasizing about what it would be like to watch Warren laying a smackdown like this on Trump's running mare Mike Pence in a VP debate.

I know, I know, that ship has sailed.

But you can't blame a guy for wondering what if?

"This is fraud, and if Senator Warren hates anything, it's fraud."

She especially hates it when she gets busted for fraudulently claiming to be Native American.

She probably shouldn't have "gone there" but she did, everyone makes mistakes, let it go.

@12:00 PM - There are so many of U ignorant wanna-bees trying to emulate Conway - it won't happen. Go someplace and spew your poison.

FYI - Elizabeth Warren's great-great-great grandmother was Cherokee and there is apparently Delaware Native American heritage in her background. Elizabeth has never used that to gain anything. Harvard says they were unaware of any connection to her Indian background and knew nothing of it when she was hired.

Just another lyin' Rethug, this time Scott Brown running against her for the sentate seat, and a made-up story. Go figure.

Actually it is the best, and only 'proof' she has moles, mawmaw and pawpaw stories.

  3. Was it just me or did Stumpf keep lifting up his right hand as if to say "stop being mean to me, I have a boo boo"?

That Elizabeth Warren is one dynamic woman! She's afraid of no one and I so wish she would do more of countering Trump and Pence!

Loved her takedown of the Wells Fargo Executive. He should be in jail and the management team with him should all be fired if the bank had any balls!

I stopped banking w/them years ago, but have friends in management with them. No one is saying a word right now.

Pull your money out of that bank folks - that is the way to kick them in the ass! Bank with a credit union in your community - they are much better as to service, etc.

I owe only 15 grand on my mortgage, only 7 months left, so I'm going to sit tight but I won't do business with them again.

We purchased a home on a 10-year mortgage with them 9 years ago and it's the only account we've ever had with Wells, they just happened to be the best interest rate for a 10-year and we've had no trouble, but my sympathies are with those that got railroaded.

The Wells Fargo guy must share some kind of kinship with Donald Trump, whose family's original old-country last name was Drumpf. Strumpf's personality, his gutless selfishness and greed mirror Donald. Hmmm. Gilbert and Sullivan could have written a wonderful musical about them.

Elizabeth Warren is a perfect example of what all our elected representatives should be doing to represent us. She takes this responsibility seriously and we definitely need more like her in the Senate and the House.

Republicans are all about gutless leadership.

Just look who they allowed to be their party's nominee.

Would love it if Elizabeth Warren would start her own party, like say "United Citizens of All Americans", and guide it to be an ethical, patriotic force to allow America to achieve its potential at home and worldwide.
    Elizabeth is awesomeness!

      @2:55 pm
Is this or could it be a part of Bernie Sanders' plan for changing the Democratic Party? Would Elizabeth Warren go along with a third party that would fracture the Democratic Party?

Or does this happen several elections down the line when more progressive and younger people are elected in off-year elections to effect a more progressive shift to strengthen the Democratic Party without a third party (of the left)?

We must vote Hillary/Kaine 2016 and blue down ballot. We must rally the vote in 2018 for Democratic progressives local, county, and state seats. It is important to consider what Democratic administrations have to work with after the general elections.

Think about what more could have been accomplished had President Obama had a Democratic House and Senate for the past six years. POTUS did a lot of good even with the tea-bagging do nothing congress working vigorously against him.

Can we please, please, please clone this woman? We need more like her. I wanted her to be part of Hillary's presidency, well I originally wanted Warren to run, but watching her eviscerate this scam artist that sprained his hand counting his rewards gave me so much pleasure.
I hope she decides to run someday. She's wicked smart, quick on her feet and knows how to drive her point home.

  13. I wonder if Stumpf is related to Drumph.

And what's with his arm in a cast? It reminds me of Bill Cosby hobbling around on a crutch as the rape accusations started to pile up.

    Thanks for posting that, Gryphen.

I liked the part where she held up the bloody pulp of his severed genitals and said "And I will do the same to every other CEO whose company cheats the American consumer in a similar manner."

    Helluva woman.

The Republicans want it both ways.

They criticize the CFPB for not acting fast enough while at the same time they'd like to dismantle it because, you know, anti-regulation.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/wells-fargo-fraud-republicans_us_57e4192be4b0e80b1ba0d583?section=&

"The Consumer Finance Protection Bureau and the City of Los Angeles recently fined Wells Fargo $185 million for five years of misbehavior, but now congressional Republicans are asking why this didn’t happen faster.

Their bewilderment, however, is in itself rather bewildering, if not downright disingenuous. Not only has the GOP consistently opposed the very existence of the CFPB, but Republicans have more recently registered strong opposition to specific new rules proposed by the agency that would have helped bring Wells Fargo’s misconduct into the open sooner."

So yes, they want it both ways.

    What else is new?
